What went wrong?
Hollywood significantly overestimated and misunderstood how the west understands and thinks of Godzilla. He's the equivalent of a longstanding meme here. People know about him and think he's 'cool', but beyond that there is no historical or nostalgic connection.
In 2014 when the movie came out. lots of people basically thought "oh cool, a godzilla movie". So lots went to see it. But we don't really care about him in the sense of being a cultural icon, because he isnt one over here, so when the sequel came out, people were over it.
fpbp
basically this.
It's a shame too because, at least in the monster front, KOTM is an kmprovement.
All the human elements were annoying as fuck save the old jap scientist
>All the human elements were annoying as fuck save the old jap scientist
improvement. that's what I meant
the monster stuff was improved
the human stuff was even worse
so take your pic
basically yeah, this
the beat way to watch KOTM is drunk or high
If you do that it's quite literally pretty kino
I loved king of the monsters when the monsters were on screen
everyone wanted to see it...but then James gave it a lukewarm review. Most people don't care about the critics when it comes to godzilla movie...they only care about James opinion. He said it wasn't bad, but you can tell he had mixed opinions about it. And nobody is going to see a movie based on the "lukewarm" reception. Godzilla 2 will flop. It all depends on Godzilla vs Kong.
uh
somewhere
over the Rainbow
that was kino
you're kino
Americans are dumb.
Monster movies just aren't very popular right now.
nah, see
>Kong actually made more than Zilla
This is all the evidence I need to know that the American box office > worldwide
>Cuts to humans between fights
Gee I wonder why
This entire year is a box office disaster. Only MCU is doing good.
I don't think the film really did anything wrong besides apparently not being woke enough for today's """critics""". This is simply one of the worst years in a long time for Hollywood, takings are down 25% and counting. The only thing making money is the MCU, and it's debatable how much longer that will go on for.
I'm gonna guess that if you polled the general audience only a minority would realise KOTM was apart of a larger franchise leading to Godzilla v Kong, and the majority would've just thought it's yet another Godzilla remake. That's only counting the people aware it was coming out, so you have a big problem getting asses in seats.
Captain fungus and Endgame sucked the average Joe's cinema-budget dry already
plus it wasn't the bestes movie in the world, not even in the franchise (fucking Farmiga)
>Farmiga
it ruined the movie for me
hey
