Taxi Driver is more relevant now than it was back in the 70s
It predicted crazy white men going on a rampage due to sexual frustration, also explores porn addiction of white men and consequences of it.
It predicted white women fucking niggers left and right (the scorsese scene), and white men being very mad about it.

That's why, Yea Forums loves Taxi Driver so much. That's why they identify with him. Travis, is in fact, an embodiment of an average white boi that browses Yea Forums. An Incel archetype, that don't know how to act around women. I loved the film, ending and all. The ending is not so obvious and leaves things open to interpretation a little. Some people just hate that kind of story telling.

The ending is great, and was not a dream. Calling it a dream defeats the entire purpose of the movie. It's just as retarded as the people who say everything that happened in American Psycho was just a dream.

It was the 70s so a movie ending in a murder-suicide seemed super edgy at the time. In the end the city has to consume Travis there really was no other ending.

I thought it was because he realized that killing politicians won't fix anything, but killing the people that do the bad shit will. Kind of seeing politics and politicians claiming that they can fix stuff is just deflection to get the vote. Dinero was kind of a scumbag, and the first girl represented how the government sees people like him. They only care about those directly in their lives, again, like the first girl and the guy with the glasses. When an outsider tries to show them their world and what they actually live in they get disgusted by them and want nothing to do with them.
It was more so about how the layman reacts to these big figureheads getting all the attention by claiming they'll fix all their problems but end up not doing it in the slightest.
Or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Travis casually driving Betsy home at the end was a good conclusion of the story to be honest.
