>On the pop culture side of things, things are much, much better than they were in 2010. 2007-2013 was a hellhole when it came to pop culture for the most part (There were some good things in there though), Whereas now, pop culture has improved vastly, even if there are still. we’ve had better entertainment that’s risk taking, creative and isn’t as pandering. While there are still some stinkers now, movies in general push the limits more, and actually have better stories, characters and writing.

Do you agree with this statement?

lady gaga may not be your style but she's an objectively top tier vocalist

I watched some anime and have just been shitposting here since like 2005.

Big-budget movies have only gotten WORSE in the last eight years.

pop culture is quite literally niggerfaggots now, no it is not better

TV was in a golden age back then, mumble rap didnt exist and capeshit wasnt everywhere like it is now

Movies are worse now than they've ever been

Ocean's Eight
Ant Man and The Wasp
The Titan
Slenderman
Captain Marvel
Solo
A Wrinkle In Time
Nutcracker and Four Realms
Sherlock Gnomes
Fifty Shades 3
Godzilla
Aladdin
Dumbo
Show Dogs
The Grinch
Uglydolls
Wonder Park
Secret Life of Pets 2

and a bunch of other shit

Agreed the 2010s have been the worst decade for cinema, music and video games altogether

2010-2016 was the worst time in gaming history. 2017 to now has been a renaissance but yeah a shitty decade it is

Agreed

Nearly every movie made from 2007-2014ish either were/had

>Overuse of CGI
>Terrible parody movies
>Terrible superhero movies
>Terrible Sandler/Micheal Bay/Snyder movies
>Awful comedies
>Endless sequel/reboot shit
>Terrible CGI/Live action hybrids

Pop culture was literally at its best since the early 90s from 2007-2012.

>entertainment that is risk taking, creative and isnt pandering
Bring me such a beast and lay it before my feet

Yes but most of this thread is underage so they'll forever consider that the golden age of cinema. Literally every grievance listed in this thread against the current decade can be made about the 00s.

Fuck off zoomer

Literally every single movie is cape shit

And music has been whittled down to top 40 pop and pop rap.

I can not even begin to explain to you the hell we live in. You would have to read some gnostic texts and realize this is a prison created by the demiurge to torture us.

The 2010s is where art went to die and got replaced by hyper capitalism, nostalgia and identity politics

You can not even belive the waking nightmare the world is if you are a person who has actually studied fine art and the history of art

>risk taking, creative and isn’t as pandering
endless recycled sequels that parrot the same two or three groupthink social messages is creative and not pandering?

Why does your image compare top grossing for the week to top grossing for the year? Is it because you are retarded?

>2007-2013
>bad
Unironically 2009-11 where Kino thanks to Gaga
Also Drive

>Literally every single movie is cape shit

Reminder that half this board unironically believes this is literally true.

I find it hard to believe that people could go to university and come out thinking that the world isn’t worse off. Unless you get a frivolous liberal arts degree and don’t have a lick of classic education I guess.

>Whereas now, pop culture has improved vastly, even if there are still. we’ve had better entertainment that’s risk taking, creative and isn’t as pandering.
But literally all of the recent years has been shitty pc pandering

actual movies and television are only the tip of the pop culture iceberg now, there's been a huge explosion online which is almost all trash and yet more and more popular by the year.

Attached: cbr.png (1312x966, 1.95M)

>she can sing!!!!
literally everyone can sing
>she can sing well
literally any half decent singer who then gets training can do this as well. the problem is lady gaga isnt creative at all

Movies have gotten worse, music has potentially gotten worse
Entertainment is only going to get worse as money centers more and more on clicks rather than making a good product. This has been proven with Netflix which has become much more about pumping out soulless 'watchable' shows/movies rather than making truly good content. Same goes for Youtube and music streaming services like Spotify.
I can't see how things will possibly get better unless people start realizing how terrible things are.

I didnt even got to university. Im a neet who has a deep interest in fine art, the occult, and philosophy.

Im poor and stupid. And i dont like leaving my room.

I spend all day studying the things i like.

The universities just brainwash you with the neoliberal brain worms

I dont know how anyone can stand it. I dont know how. Capitalism no longer even has the pretense of making art, all they make is fucking products.

This is hell. If you have actually studied art and the world and things like that. There is no other fucking conclusion you could come to besides. This is hell

How the fuck do you listen to dark side of the moon. And think thats crap. And then listen to fucking lady googa and watch ultrasuperman part 10. and not come to the realization

THIS IS FUCKING HELL

I feel downright insulted by this statement. In 2010 we had Breaking Bad, Toy Story 3 and Clone Wars. Now we have GOT seasons 7-8, Dark Phoenix, Disney Wars and Toy Story 4 is probably going to be a disaster. The only recent well written movies with mass appeal I can think of are MI : Fallout and Infinity War

>This has been proven with Netflix which has become much more about pumping out soulless 'watchable' shows/movies rather than making truly good content.

Broadcast network television has existed for a hundred years, and all of it is just as soulless and 'watchable' as anything Netflix produced. Basic cable like TBS, TNT, USA, have existed for decades. Equally drivel. And all of those networks wore commercially sponsored, which meant which meant watchability was the first priority so the morons tuning it would stick around to buy shit they don't need. Stop posting until you are old enough to know what you are talking about.

>Didn't go to university
>"da university brainwashes u"
It only brainwashes you if you can't form your own opinions on things plus you're going to school for a bullshit humanities degree

Released in 2007.

Movies have gotten worse since 2005
Don't listen to music really (I assume everything popular is gay dance music)
With premium channels/streaming long form story telling might have gotten better but I only watch repeats of MST3K and Seinfeld so I don't know

>Stop posting until you are old enough to know what you are talking about.
Lol so mad about such a little thing. Also if you think the streaming service platform of something like Netflix is anything like cable television then you're the underage one. A shitty show on cable that the network knows is going to fail isn't even going to make it to the viewers eyes. On Netflix they don't give a fuck. They'll take a chance on the absolute worst garbage because there's nothing to lose. Sure they'll be out some money but they'll just shit something else out and hope people watch that instead. There's no risk of clogging up air time because there is no air time. Every piece of shit is just waiting to be watched at any time. The sequential airing of shows is no longer there.

>infinity war

The point of the american univerity is to train the future neoliberal managers of america. The right wingers think they are commies. But they do not learn class warfare. They learn the bourgeoisie nationalism of identity politics and interseconlism. They learn to divide the poor, not unite them. And they learn therapy techniques like coloring books and safe spaces.

I repeat

THIS IS HELL
THIS IS HELL
THIS IS HELL

youtube.com/watch?v=jvGeujU6iK0

>They'll take a chance

That's funny, because I thought we we chastising media distributors for not taking chances. The fact that conventional cable *must* focus test everything before airing while streaming has more leniency is exactly why the ad-sponsored model of the past has stagnated television.

That's bad because it has a woman Yea Forums told me to hate.

Wrong movie, you obsessed faggot

Yeah that's why it's bad :/

That's weird, because when Infinity War released I definitely remember seeing webms of that woman in Infinity War. Maybe I'm thinking of a different Infinity War.

This

Go watch American Idol unironically and try to convince me that anyone in the top 25 couldn't outsing any modern established pop star.

>/pol/ being this defensive in the face of light criticism
This is just sad. You guys ARE the outrage culture. period.

>risk taking
Everything is mumble rap and black guys with dreads and tight jeans... and women are all tan black hair with augmented ass and lips... while the white female artists are literally boy cut and wearing retardedly androgynous cloths that hide any of their femininity because “muh artistic expression”...it’s the epitome of conformity. Literally nothing groundbreaking has happened in the past 5 years

Sure, you can make the argument that the more willing Netflix is to take chances, the more good movies they'll allow into the mix. However, it also means a ton of awful movies that they take chances on are going to be right there beside those good movies. Considering a lot more shit movies are made than good movies (arguably), I'm going to assume there's going to be a lot more shit to wade through in order to get to the good. But as more shit clouds these good movies, the less likely people will find these good movies. So why would they even bother to produce more of these 'good' movies if people are just going to keep consuming shit thinking it's good?
This is all conjecture but so is most everything posted on this site.

Infinity war is unironically kino.
Endgame is shit

>literally everyone can sing
I know lots of people with horrible singing voices

>22 mediocre films
>this new one is kino
You fooled me once with black panther...it's not happening again

Hollywood movies have always sucked and only a handful of them are memorable. The reason why we all think older stuff is better is because pop culture basically forgot about all of the filler shitty movies. Same thing is gonna happen with this decade too. You guys are fucking retards if you think there was any period in time where all media that came out was consistently good.

>period
Kek. Almost got a real response from me. Bravo

No I don't agree. I think pop culture has become even more stagnant, pandering and less risk taking than it has in years.

isn't pop culture by definition bad?

Pop = popular
Popular = appeals to the lowest common denominator as well as the average in order to be popular

Attached: fdhge.png (1152x648, 24K)

p much thisgoing to a liberal af public uni actually made me more conservative

Obama turned the USA into a literal niggerfaggot nation sadly. That's why it's so bad.

“Pop culture” is cancer, anything that becomes part of pop culture should be shunned. Also how retarded do you have to be to think the era of endless reboots, sequels and copycats is risk taking? How could someone seriously think tv & film today isn’t pandering to audiences? Every major work that gets produced on film or tv these days has some entry-level political commentary so parents can feel empowered bringing their middle schoolers to see Avengers 17 and man children think they’re changing the world by binge watching 48hrs of dogshit on Netflix.

Infinity War has the misunderstood hero win though

2007 - There Will Be Blood
2007 - No Country For Old Men

One could argue that 2007 was one of the best years for cinema.

...just sayin'...

>And they learn therapy techniques like coloring books and safe spaces.

I went to university and I never saw that shit

You’re mistaking Endgame (last film) with Infinity war, dumbtard

Oh my god I wish people would stop talking about those 2 movies like their the second fucking coming. They're fine. And that's ALL they are.

this girl is fucking 16 and is literally a better singer than all current popstars

lost too

youtube.com/watch?v=_K8B3xs-q-E

>And music has been whittled down to top 40 pop and pop rap.
>I can't be bothered to look past the top 40 therefore it's all bad

Legend

those views have to be inflated

>can

anyone and I mean ANYONE can train their voices to be at least tolerable and acceptable

It's sort of like how people think artists are fucking magicians but literally anyone can learn how to draw if you put in the time to practice

It's wrong because people still pander nowadays, just to different people.

Taking risks doesn't mean it's going to be good. People are doing things a bit differently (pandering to different people as I stated before), but the writing is somehow worse.

Liberal arts degrees are classic education, user. It's the modern education system that pushes technical, career focused degrees.

Attached: me marching into the sun.png (669x588, 394K)

shut the fuck up. bandcamp indie shit or whatever shit isn't relevant (and even those people worship shit like beyonce and kendrick), the point is that less quality filters to the mainstream. even Yea Forums now is a graveyard for any music beyond top 40

>Sherlock Gnomes
That sounds like kino

No. You know people who are singing in a style that doesn't compliment their voice. Especially after receiving training to maximize the quality of their voice for their niche.

classical education doesn't mean 'arts' in the sense we use the term, all it meant was learning in latin and greek language and starting with classical authors as a foundation.

Better than any movies YOU ever made, asswipe.

Probably the dumbest thing I've ever read. Billie Blacked is not better than Gaga. And I fucking HATE Gaga

I can tell you're younger then 25.

2007 is when not just video games but collectively huge parts of our pop culture all went to fucking shit.

2007 was a god-tier year for movies, so if you're going that far back I'm not willing to agree that it's a hellhole. Also, the closer you get to [current year], the more capeshit becomes ubiquitous, saturating our culture with garbage.

Lady GaGa is kino
