I have the entire toybiz/kenner Batman 89 line, including the costume and weapon sets.
>queen Diane
lmao
I had these guys.
Can anyone tell me what kids exactly did with action figures? Do you just smash them together or some shit? Fucking millenials
>Femanon here
unironically the only movie m="merchandise" I would ever consider owning, and I don't even like star wars. I can just see any potential "guests" to my apartment being shocked, upset, and slyly bemused by it all. hahahah
Reminder that the reason Lucas sold to Disney in particular was because he saw how they handled Marvel's movies and merchandise and thought they would do the same with Star Wars.
you roleplay with them; you speak through the toys as the characters, and have them interact
it's creative play
you can do it alone, or have your friends also pretend to be characters with you
it's basically a combination of acting and puppetry, and builds social and creative and problem-solving skills
toys are good for children
had little battles with armies, green army men were the basic troops and the action figures were generals/champions or kaiju vs army fights, pic related
it's a boomer thing, you won't understand
real question is what do girls do with dolls? just treat them like babies?
Holy shit those are stormtrooper blasters. What the fuck, Batman?
Pose them. Articulation is fun.
i would buy this
Roleplay just like with barbies. Boys by comparison play god with their toys.
If you think that left pic is nuts, you should have seen toystores from '78-'84. To be fair, that right pic is not a toystore.
Mafex made the crew a couple years ago. I also got some Planet of the Apes figs. Monolith is out of scale though.
Damn I had no idea Deloreans were RR.
I guess the 3' gap in the firewall didn't fit enough cocaine.
I totally have this.
RR layout was one of main factors it was so bad, unlike other RR sport cars like 911. The front was lightweight and tyres had almost no traction aft higher speeds. We are not talking about THAT high speeds because this car was pretty crap in terms of performance too. It was one of worst sports cars of it's era.
Literally fucking this. I don’t think I’ve read a better argument for toys than yours that you typed here.
when the nostalgia hits
I used to make my own Marvel vs DC fighting game scenarios.
i had laser batman
I have two of these. One is still mint in the box.
And your virginity. Mint.
Children used to have something called 'imagination'
Looks like fun
You can't compare the 90's to the 2010s. Back then kids didn't have smartphones and they weren't glued to their videogame consoles like they are now. They still played videogames and didn't have the tiny attention span both kids and adults have these days. So it's not a Star Wars thing, it's a toys in general thing.
But I agree that the new Star Wars movies don't translate at all to toy form:
>stormtroopers are brainwashed children that were indoctrinated for years
>Rey doesn't do anything with her lightsaber
>the Starkiller base mission only lasts a few minutes
>barely any variety or diversity in characters and vehicles
>They still played videogames
Oops. They still played with toys* I meant
I used to have one when I was 11. I wish I still had it. That design on the toy looks really cool.
Even Bob the Goon?
Nice quads
>not watching Blue Peter and making your own
Not him, but I had deep dive Batman and one of those penguins above. I'd forgotten all about these, remember having a load of Spidermans though, including some 3 stacked huge scorpion thing.
That´s not mechandise, it´s part of Ghibli museum in Mitaka.
Imagine being such a brainlet kek
Yesterday thread was kino
the only reason I watched the shitty puppet master movies
youtube.com
thanks cameron
god i love devil doll stuff.
Post the heads.
iphones and ipads happened. Kids stop liking toys at like 6 years old now.
If it wasn't fine for it's time, but it's aged like shit.
I fucking have these, they are so cool
Reddit really did destroy this place.
Prove you don't come from there. What was the most annoying fanbase on Yea Forums in 2009?
Marvel has no trouble selling toys to both kids and adult collectors.
Vidya has been killing toys since inception. There was a brief point in time though where not every must-have toy was attached to a license, so every month there'd be some one hit wonder toy at the daycare playground.
What's really doing the job now though is the race to the bottom, not incorporating collectors into the mix, and being in a position to be forced by whatever Walmart wanted.
Meanwhile weeb figs are lapping everything else, and cater to collectors almost exclusively by making everything built-to-order so they don't lose money, stores don't have glut, and collectors get the fig that would otherwise have never seen the light of day.
Glorious Nippon plastic folded over 1000 times.

>Jungle Tracker Batman
So basically Nigger Hunter Batman
Ah the 80s, where r-rated films had toylines.
The quality on this is insane
God, I miss the 80s. A time when every ultra violent R rated movie was turned into a show or toys for children.
>movie written by Dan Gilroy
huh, that was unexpected
Lets not even get started on the NES games based on R-rated movies.
This so hard. My buddy had a BBQ a few weeks ago and his kid wouldn't stop bugging me. Told him to go play and use his imagination. He actually said "I don't know how" and then grabbed his tablet.
When I have kids, I'm going to raise them on VHS and Leapfrog games
It was a magic time.
BTW, in case if you're wondering
youtube.com
Video games in general happened
ah the toys based on the cartoon that never got made
Believe it or not but kids these days' hands aren't dextrous enough to start writing in 1st grade thanks to touch screens.
Same went for Friday the 13th nes game (Developed by Atlus)
that's fucking sad
Why did they cancel it? The animation looks nice.
Wait, you're telling me the same people who made this....
....also made THIS?
yep
>Friday the 13th was developed by Atlus and published by LJN for the Nintendo Entertainment System video game console. It was released in February 1989. Its music and sound effects were designed by Hirohiko Takayama. It is an adaptation of the film franchise of the same name. It was developed as part of an "aggressive expansion" by LJN to focus on video games based on media licenses.
>Friday the 13th was released in North America exclusively in February 1989, as part of LJN's focus on creating video games based on licenses. It is considered by some as one of the worst games of all time. Game Informer lists the game among the most difficult horror games of all time. Michigan Daily's Matt Grandstaff called it a "poor offering" by LJN. GamePro listed it as the 10th worst video game based on a film, criticizing its "repetitive music score and amazingly frustrating gameplay". GamesRadar's Mikel Reparaz criticized its box, commenting that only LJN "would ever think to surround Jason Voorhees with neon-pastel vomit, thereby making him even more of an ‘80s relic than he already is. Writer Christopher Grant commented that the game was more terrible than the deaths of the campers in the first Friday the 13th film, calling it "craptacular". IGN's Levi Buchanan used this game as an example of LJN's poor development abilities. The book Vintage Games: An Insider Look at the History of Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario, and the Most Influential Games of All Time criticizes it for not being frightening, citing technical reasons for this. The authors of Nintendo Power rated Friday the 13th the sixth worst game ever made in the magazine's September 1997 issue. The writer stated "After playing a few minutes of this aardvark, you wanted Jason to slaughter all the counselors and then you. Anything so it would just end." Joystiq's James Ransom-Wiley noted it as a game that the staff "loved to hate." The Daily News of Los Angeles, however, noted it as a hit.
Friday the 13th isn't even the worst game they made, they made the fucking Karate Kid NES title
For me it was Gunpla. I feel bad for all of the money I begged my parents to waste on that shit.
One of the things that excited me more about a new toy was thinking on a way to introduce it into my toyverse
THEY MADE THAT TOO?
I have this nigger, I also have the skull fortress
I played out movies I liked with GI Joes. I played Die Hard on the stairs a lot, each step was its own office floor.
Nothing can top the the Burger King Twilight Eclipse promotion, but this comes close.
They needed to pay the bills after DDD: Megami Tensei was banned from being sold oversea's
Best toy coming through
It's not that terrible it's just deeply flawed like most of the nes era.
Confusing as fuck map you have to constantly refer to so you know you're actually going the right way, shit ai, and a lot of randomness.
toykino imcoming
It's your standard NES movie tie-in, rushed out the door for Christmas and selling purely on the name
>Operation: Aliens was a cancelled 1992 animated children's television series based on the Alien franchise, chiefly the 1986 film Aliens. It was to follow Lieutenant Ripley and the "Space Marines" as they battled the Xenomorph scourge throughout the galaxy. Although the cartoon was cancelled before broadcast, the tie-in toy line from Kenner Products did go on sale, albeit re-branded as simply Aliens, while the show's concepts and characters made it into a variety of other released merchandise.
Only a single pilot episode of the show was ever produced, although even that may not have been completed. Since its cancellation, no footage from the cartoon has ever been made available anywhere
so, were 80´s just remake of 70´s with cocain and capitalism?
that is supposed to be a jetpack right?
not something for underwater right? because that helmet would not keep any water out.
It could be worst
youtube.com
>non mammal alien with tits
lame.
Definitely shit but it was in a time where there were literally unplayable dreck shafting kids left and right.
one of my earliest memories is watching the commercial for these
beat this
I really don't get why ET is so hated, it's not even the worst game on Atari, I really do wonder why the fuck anyone thought making 4 million initial copies was a good idea
Everything from NECA.
>inb4 /toy/ autists start complaining about m-muh QC issues
Personally I prefer Door Ladder
The quads have good taste
It's a piece of shit cash grab but sure wish I bought another one since they go for 1k nowadays.
There are 7-inches butt plug? What the f
>There are 7-inches butt plug? What the f
Summerfag
I'd laugh so hard if that was officially licensed. I know they're trying to get girls into SW but wew.
The user rating of 4.5 is what really does it for me
I put this bad boy on the kitchen counter and the cat won't go near it.
dennis is my favourite
Is it bad that I still play with toys from my childhood?
For me it's the Lucas Collectors Set
dusting them off from time to time is nice, but playing it actively is weird user
Not at all
I don't understand the logic of this, did any adult even play the NES back then? Who's the audience for this?
AGAINST THE NINJAAAAAAAA
>Mfw my mom bought me all of those
>A movie about aliens slaughtering people and using them as cacoons for their young showing them hatching in full view
>She wouldn't let me have terminators toys saying it was too violent
>My friend had the opposite problem
>We used to have aliens vs terminators fights
Kids? Kids then loved this shit including me.
There was an adult market, but the entire point is giving kids what they can't have in theater's at home, it was truly a different time
Never got these, were they actually made of glass or just plastic?
also how much do these cost on ebay
They were glass, I remember having them
Did this ever get the episodes leaked like that street fighter cartoon where the "YES" meme came from?
That image is the only evidence we have of it even existing
That makes so much sense. Even as a kid I remember asking what in the fuck were they thinking the characters had nothing to do with the movie.
Tablets and smartphones should unironically be banned for anyone under the age of 16
It does if he only goes forward idiot, learn the physics.
And then the actual movie happened
youtu.be
>Be summers of the early 90s
>Friends come over in the morning
>We dump all the fucking legs on the floor
>Build boats tank and jet combos
>Have big rpg like battles in the pool with upgradable parts
Damn I unironically want these now
Imagine being such an NPC roastie that you don't even have imagination
Are you implying NPCs didn't exist in the 80s?
>Zoomer can't comprehend playing with toys due to being raised on an iPad and tidepods
Color me surprised
Exosquad had the greatest toy concepts and box art. I had nearly all of them except the retarded sport related ones at the tail end of the line.
Fuck, I just got nostalgic remembering the one I used to have
all the lead in the gasoline and asbestos kept people from becoming NPCs
Way before I started making films, or playing video games, I used to tell my stories through toys. It was a simpler time that I really miss.
I only stopped because I knew it was weird for anyone over the age of 12 to play with toys but goddamn it was glorious
When did Alan Moore get that bitchin eldtster roadster?
Mixing and matching is fun.
Videogames and the internet.
My 7 year old nephew spends all his time watching shitty Sonic machinima on youtube on my mum's tablet
"Yes"
Yes.
I'd argue the leaded gas and asbestos brake pads increased the NPC opinions relating to cars
>Europe and Japan are making ridiculous mid and rear engined cars with shitloads of HP
>Buy shitty Pontiac instead and let the government set tariffs high as fuck because America good other thing bad
I do too, user. Fuck any sóyboy that tries judging you for that while watching Endgame for the 100th time because he wants it to beat avatar
>tfw i wanted to have the Matrix phone so badly
The first two or three generations of toys had minicomic books attached related to the show I think. Fuck I wish I kept those books.
that doesn't look much like Azula
There's a difference between how boys and girls play(ed) with toys:
>girls interact with the toy (doll, teddybear whatever), as if it had its own agency and were a separate personality
>boys direct their toys, they don't interact with them: all their actions are explicitly under the boy's control
>The series was to be produced by Korean animators and was to air in the 11:30 am time-slot in the Saturday morning cartoon schedule. Aimed at the 6-12 year-old male demographic, the show was designed to promote the Aliens brand and was to be accompanied by a tie-in toy line featuring characters from the show produced by Kenner Products.
The cartoon was to feature several characters from the film Aliens, including Ripley, Drake, Apone (who wore a "NO BUGS" t-shirt), Bishop, Vasquez and Hicks; it is unknown if the series would have offered any explanation as to how those characters who died in Aliens could possibly be alive in the show. Similar to the contemporary film-based carton The Real Ghostbusters, the show would have used new appearances for each of the characters, as the respective actors refused to give up their likenesses. Although the overall plot of the series was never fully fleshed out, the general concept was that the characters would be formed into a special quick-reaction Alien emergency response unit with special abilities, equipment and talent.
The cartoon was slated for fall 1992. However, following the lackluster critical and audience response to Alien3 in the United States, released there in May of that year, 20th Century Fox grew concerned about the potential profitability of the show and cancelled the production. The difficulty of basing a children's television series on such an inherently violent and dark film series may also have been a factor in the decision. While a pilot episode was apparently produced (although possibly not completed), it never aired and has never been made available since.
> HIGH KIDS WE'RE HOME EARLY.
i remember a lot of nerds importing the phone to Europe only to realize that Samsung didn't build them with GSM network capability meaning they were essentially useless outside of the US and Asia, kek.
flew off the shelves no doubt
Honestly the new Godzilla movie has god-tier merch.
>there will never be a movie about Jungle Tracker BATMAN With Shoulder Mount Launcher!
why even live
There's a kornheiser to be made in that ''20 long bit
My four year old niece just watches YouTube for kids all day.
Is there a Rodan yet?
do they have a... um... you-know-who action figure?
asking for a shelf
checked and i still cant believe they canceled penny dreadful
No you can't hotglue her
looks like a constipated turd
They reissued the nokia slider phone with 4g, but they couldn't be tasked to actually make the things slide out without a mod.
Has there ever been Godzilla merchandise that also includes a miniature city? I always wanted something like that as a kid
Fuck I could go for that siracha steak melt right now
Toy-kino
I don't even like star wars and I would have begged my mum for this as a kid
No let’s actually get started on them please
on a related note
there are 2 more alien cartoons that never got made.
one based on the first movie Alien
avp.fandom.com
and another being more stand alone with the art style of gendy's clone wars
avp.fandom.com
Yes but he is smaller
>Tfw this is what the industry would look like if anti-copyright retards got their way
I will never not lose to Paul Saltines
That honestly looks like shit dude
fake bootlegs suck so fucking hard and will never come close to the real thing
Batman Returns didn't even have a scene in the jungle.
you have your parents build you a city set complete with lots under construction. have you ever even watched a toy commercial?
>Pic
wtf That plot sounds fucking rad why didn't they make a movie about that instead of 3 or that ressurection turd
thats pretty big
is there a mothra or king ghidorah toy also?
Get the monsterarts.
kids just watch youtube and play fortnite
>Not renembering the scene where Batman mowed down vietcong in the jungle
It's like you didn't even watch the Raimi cut
wasn't the sliding function a mod that the movie producers added themselves? the original Nokia 8110 didn't have it and people got pissed when they bought one and there was no automatic sliding function.
i remember drinking a lot of dew during this era
I've got two sealed Wheelchair Jakes. Different hairstyles on each one for some reason
I had the Snake Alien, which isn’t pictured here. Fucking awesome.
Video games and shit character designs will do that.
Kids dont wants to own guy with jacket and gun, black guy with jacket and gun, (specially if they have Solo already) bad guy in uniform, lady with stick, black guy in cape, another guy in jacket with a gun, they want the characters that have lightsabers and/or have cool designs like Vader, stormtroopers, kylo, Boba Fett, Phasma, they don't want c3po with red arm, they want r2 or bb8.
Also it doesn't help that nothing fucking happens with these characters in the movies because they're too busy virtue signaling and making tge most boring character the focus of the movie. Kids don't care about that shit, specially kids now that have an even shorter attention span than kids before video games were thing or this huge. Why do you think Spiderman and super heroes sell, because they have cool designs and have media with those toys doing cool things on screen. Even the boring robes design for the jedis in the prequels had the lightsaber going for it and each had a unique looking hairstyle or head to make it stand out.
it's based on the aliens: genocide comic. where 2 hives of aliens form on a planet and battle for dominance. one hive are the classic black aliens, the second hive have a red color.
>trying to find a box where the intercetor, b-wing, nebulon-b frigate, x-wing wasn't bent
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I spent too much time at toys-r-us as a kid,
I'm glad it's dead.
i had the scorpion alien with the TOBLERONE: hurts mah hand!(tm) button on the spine
Yeah think it was a simple one using a really taught rubber band or something.
People wanted the reissue but they dropped the fucking ball hard.
>Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game about a Game
It's fucking perfect
Does anyone else ITT still play with 80s toys? I don't give a fuck what others say, they're still damn rad.
What kind of childhood did you have?
How do they play back?
Playing outside in the woods and exploring, I grew up in the 50-60s before any of you millenials got your gay shit
I'll always say that's what Lucas' actual talent is in, making cool as fuck masked and armored bad guys.
>you now remember the French Darth Vader Burger for the 3D release of The Phantom Menace
I do
How many of your friends did you blind with a Red Ryder?
found mothra
I saw what you did
>went to pick these up at my parents during the TFA craze
>oh I threw them out, user, sorry
Fuck man, that shit hurts to this day, I had all of them except sebulba and watto
I think the demographic that buys toys these days are 25+ year olds out of nostalgia
Hot take; Against The Ninja is the better song
the neca toys where Always damn good.
better then some of the other brands
Sounds kino, is it good?
All my toys are boxed up in storage somewhere in my parent's garage.
I distinctly remember around the age of 13, all my creativity for playing with toys was suddenly gone. I couldn't do it, I couldn't come up with fantastic stories on the spot anymore.
>My parents let my cousin have a PAL version R.O.B and both games for free
>He lost them
I COULD HAVE MADE THOUSANDS OFF THAT
I still have every alien in that picture and the mantis alien, also the power loader...oddly I never wanted any of the people.
readcomiconline.to
give it a go.
the picture on the left is why toys r us went one of the reasons toys r us went bankrupt. the cost of keeping so much merchandise on the shelves was unprofitable in the long run
Careful user. They're a very slippery slope especially if you're prone to loneliness.
This post provided a wave of nostalgia remembering a friend and I pooling our bionicles together and giving them al distinct personalities and stories. I rarely think about being primary school aged but this made me miss those simper times.
Also, fighting with lightsabers was the most fun fucking thing.
Hasbro actually looks like.Luke.
My buddy had a yellow one and I was really jelly of that bastard. He had all the cool batmans.
Fuuuuuck Mysterio and Scorpion look tits.
>m="merchandise"
This isn't math class, fag.
Why does Spiderman in particular have the goofiest fucking villains? (Not counting Venom)
Amazing design
Lucas' character designers where on point during the prequels, even if most where cgi, the designs where all fantastic. Even in the clone wars, old favorites OT aliens like Duros had a coolness update with prequel lore, like Cad Bane, fucking space Clint Eastwood
False. Kids still play with toys, zoomer.
I'd only want Rodan, Godzilla, Mothra, Ghidorah and Gigan tho, maybe an Anguirus
*unzips dick*
Idk why but their name sounds like a would be slur, always puts a smile on my face.
I had the alien queen
>3 cents
lmao, also nice digits
Why is Yea Forums always at it's best when not discussing movies?
the fuck is he so smug about?
THE FATHER
this is bullshit. most the time you spent finding all their equipment in the toy chest and then trying to get the fuckers to stand on their own. by then you had better things to do and were ready to move on.
He just killed a shitload of Mexicans with a sonic boom, he thought it was pretty funny
she would slice it off.
mothra belongs to godzilla
I have that one! Holy shit I’ve never seen the packaging. Must have destroyed that shit as a child
Anyone got a pic of that? I'm curious
You'd think but the data shows differently, mainly because collectors look elsewhere for something more quality and not ruined by cost cutting or safety decisions. They want to kill two birds with one stone and it never works. The ones that do have enough sense to recognize the demand like the masters of the universe collector sub stuff eventually get greedy and wallet rape their fans.
Everything is hollow and rubber. It's a vicious cycle, mate.
Coolest monster in KotM.
Not until Kong rapes her
HOWDY DOO
I never understood the purpose of these.
someone shoop a MAGA hat on him
Rodan's design was the best thing in the film as far as I'm concerned
Dafuq, no one posted this yet? The ultimate action kino.
>guy in wheelchair
Amazing action figure! Not even a fucking logo on his shirt to make him less Sam borington, who the fuck would want to own this, it's not even visually appealing for adults to leave collecting dust on a shelf.
All they have to do is make ridiculous awesome shit like OP again
the hairy manlet with his micro dick can't do shit
no, go away
Oh man my family had to empty out the loft to re-insulate it and I found a box with all the old sci-fi micro machines. It was mainly Star Trek but there was also some Star Wars, Babylon 5 and Starship Troopers. Amazing.
Have sex.
Just kidding. I have all the Kenner Dark Knight Collection, Batman Returns and Animated Series Toys, vehicles and role play from 1990-1994. Toys were quality back then and a real joy to collect.
>Call it Mothra
>Looks like a wasp
Strange decision but OK
ACTION MAN
THE GREATEST HERO OF THEM ALL
Shut the fuck up bigot. disabled action toys are just as cool as normal ones.
He's gotten way bigger.
The only revo I own.
>Reddit screenshots
>Humanoid shit
Get out of my board
Even their ads were cool.
ah shit, Action Man. i actually had the one on the left.
also a ninja version and the badguy with his huge mohawk and robot hand
sold them all at a garage sale.
also all Hail the King. i wonder how big he is?
Every fucking thread
>Finn
>toy line is called The Black Series
>He actually said "I don't know how" and then grabbed his tablet.
Goddamnit, that is sad.
Who else immediately threw away that foam shit at the end when they got theirs?
Fuck 90's ad's were funny, like a more stupid 80's
I had Shocker
>Humanoid shit
>>>/reddit/
Look at him and laugh
Is it bad that I unironially fucking love the Rio films?
Is there anything /our girl/ doesn't look great on?
I said similar when I just wanted Gamera 96. Couple years later and it might actually just be easier to have work send my checks to bandai.
I want that Ray Liotta one they're talking about in that one on the right.
Man these merchandise threads are comfy.
Hold on, I'm gonna make another one soon.
Buy him Lego and crayons with tons of paper, shove him Justice League Unlimited, it will help spring up his imagination.
they sure where creative with the alien designs
I had a lot of these. I had that Scorpion and Kraven. I had a different Carnage and the super articulate Spider-Man. Green Goblin and Hobgoblin had those ones. I also had Kingpin, Peter Parker, Smythe, the Doc Ock tentacle Spider-Man, and The Punisher. There was tons of fun had with those.
I don't remember that being the origin story
As weird as this is, when I went to see my parents they had Captain Marvel bananas
This was my favorite toy as a kid
Looks way better in person. The printed faces stick out too much in promo shots.
Hasbro does good sculpts, only to douse it in glossy cheap paint.
I'll make a new merch thread as soon as I find something silly enough to be the OP.
I'm digging the swastika skeleton on the far left.
Literally name ONE (1) thing Kong has that Godzilla doesn't
Feels weird to praise the man but artistically speaking he knows just where to draw the line between overcooked and minimal.
Shortness.
A good movie
Hair?
nice they even made toys of the avp arcade game
Shitzilla BTFO
yeah, he's criticized for having a childish bent in his old age (darth icky) but the man was a hell of a merchandiser. it's fun watching disney flail with their attempts.
Reddit toy incoming. Mom bought it for me on my birthday. Dumb bitch.
Hold on, I have an even sillier produce-related product in mind.
What kid doesn't want a Harvey Keitel figure?
That's pretty cool. I could have easily pretended that was some cyber punk man
you can get decent money for these little guys. they actually have decent articulation and features, compared with modern toys. sold mine to a very cute woman and she winked at me. it was a good day.
I used it as a football and then burned a little. Amazingly, this fucker still worked.
they actualy made a toy of the joker alien recently
More like In The Red Series amirite?
Furbies must have been built by NISMO, you can't kill the thing no matter how much you neglect and thrash it
Seagal kino?
What are the pistols to the left of the gold belt, next to the crossbows? It looks like the gold portion of the pistols come out but I don't understand their purpose.
It was a cobralike wireframe with green black plastic and action fangs on an alien head
This it?
No, it's more hilarious.
