->Active shooter drill in middle school. Are American schools really like this?
Justin Rogers
Isaac Perez
Only schools that dont handle bullying cases correctly yes

RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
I wonder how universal my school experience was and if anyone knows what I’m referencing
Daniel Green
Teacher here, yes we have "lockdown" drills once a semester where we lock our doors, cover the windows, turn off the lights and have everyone in the room move away from the door and be silent.
Jackson Gray
Wouldn't you be teaching the potential shooter as well? How is that supposed to fool them into thinking nobody is in there?
Grayson Lopez
>teacher
>on Yea Forums
Andrew Flores
It will stall the shooter so he will off himself sooner.
Jaxon Perez
Yeah it's goofy. It's basically the modern-day equivalent of the "duck and cover" drills for nuclear warefare from the 50s.
The purpose is to just lock the doors and get out of the line of sight of the doors and windows as best as you can but the "turning off the lights and staying very quiet" is kind of dumb.

I want to love and kiss Kayla
Kayden Bennett
So he either expends all his ammo shooting through literally every door or you get to watch a skinny 14 year old trying to kick in a door, either way it's better than having a target rich environment for him.
Jaxon Hall
I see. It's a shame they can't just kill themselves and leave everyone else alone.
Tyler Jackson
>or you get to watch a skinny 14 year old trying to kick in a door
lol imagine bullying a kid while he's on his rampage.
Samuel Davis
So the next school shooter is just going to bring one of those rams with him and break open each door and sweep the now target rich corner as he passes.
So schools will respond by replacing normal school doors with rolling cell style doors that can only be opened by a passcode input from the office.
Justin Long
I teach 5th grade in an extremely affluent area so probably no kids bringing guns. Classes are often empty due to teachers having planning periods or taking the kids to the library or whatever so if the doors are closed I guess they'd have a harder time telling which rooms actually have people in them. It's all about slowing them down while a police officer comes and wastes them.
I actually goofed, they told us in recent years that you don't need to cover the door's window. I think someone realized that covering the window kind of red-flags a shooter that there's people hiding in there.
Cameron Brown
Yes. Every public school is required to do active shooter and fire drills.
Mason Anderson
>It's all about slowing them down while a police officer comes and wastes them.
Don't count on that happening. It would be the first time, if it did. You're better off arming yourself and taking it into your own hands.
Ryan Price
Yep, every few months they do a "school shooter" drill.
The idea used to be that all the kids should huddle up in the corner, but I think they're changing that now because someone realized that having a bunch of targets all in one place just meant you were giving the shooter a bigger high score.
Noah Powell
Our school is old as shit and even it has doors that there is absolutely no way a person could break down. Our walls are framed from steel, not lumber, and the door is thick as fuck. The glass windows presumably are weak so a shooter would probably just knock that out and stick their gun in and shoot. If they have a handgun it's game over because they can just reach their arm in and shoot people all lined up.
Jackson King
I remember doing one in kindergarten I remember thinking this in school, the answer is the the shooter wouldn't know which buildings are worth the trouble of entering and would have limited time to find out
Michael Evans
We do have a resource officer on campus at all times. He has a handgun and some kind of rifle, an AR-15 I think. Unless he fucks off like that one dude did in Parkland then I assume he'd be able to reach the shooter within a couple of minutes.
Isaiah Howard
>not going for the pipe bomb in the lunch hall play
nigga did you learn nothing
Dylan Parker
>It's a shame they can't just kill themselves and leave everyone else alone.
spoken like someone who bullies other people and fears retribution
you'll get yours cunt
Brayden Edwards
no that would require a dance off
Parker Cruz
lol I'm hasguns so good luck with that.
