Well try imagine having a high IQ, there, see. That’s why we don’t dub everything.

>not going for the dubs
it's shameful, really

Fucking based.

Is this a meme? Why would I want to watch a dub? The voice is like 50% of an actors performance, I don't want some second grade local voice actors replacing that. For example, a movie with Sam Elliott, who can do that voice?

French here, fucking hate dubbing, sub everything, maybe IQ will improve

Pretty shit map here. In Lithuania Most of the things are voice overs and in movie thetres they go full dubbing, almost never see subtitles.

>Exclusively dubbing
>Latvia

No.

>he watches dubbed film

Attached: 2 headed viper.jpg (537x354, 33K)

>his country doesn't have voice actors on par with the original actors
Or
>he doesn't appreciate its country's art of dubbing
Yikes.

Or
>he is not drolling retard

>Reads movies

I am living in a dubbing country and I am PRO dubbing. I've used to be AGAINST dubbing and wanted to watch stuff with subtitles but it is fucking distracting. YES I know English so I can watch English stuff but if you watch something where many are talking at the same time and a lot is going on you will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS miss the action because you are too focused on reading the subtitles. Also there is always a subtitle reading delay so action happens / you are done reading the subs and the action the comment was about is already over for a bit / happened in the previous cut. I've noticed this when I was in countries that use subtitles and I would already laugh about a joke in a movie and the entire movie theater would always laugh like 2 seconds after me. It almost felt like a weird echo where I was always the first to laugh and then they would follow. Strange.

The thing is: Foreigners who don't know about the high quality of certain dubs (France and Germany do an amazing job. I really like Leonardo DiCaprios French voice or I PREFER Bruce Willies German voice over his English voice) can't just judge the situation.

The best thing would be if you are fluent in EVERY language but one can only know that many languages.

Watching movies should be a comfy thing. Reading subs isn't comfy. You just want to lie in bed, watch a film and maybe cuddle? Forget about that if you have to read subtitles. I even have a hard time reading subtitles if it's late, I just want to chill and watch a movie and I need to focus on subs if I am NOT sitting up straight. Becomes hard to read then.
You also can't just eat something and read subtitles at the same time. I will look at my plate and cut my meat or something and I will miss a line of dialogue.

Countries like France or Germany watch movies from all over the world. French movies, Scandinavian, Japanese, South Korean...whatever while Anglos just watch ANGLO SHIT. Foreign movies is a genre to them.

dubs and i get a cute gf

>onda vital

learn to read, retard

Note: I've used to watch stuff with subtitles for 18 years but then I got a life and a girl and friends who don't want to read subtitles and I adjusted to it and got my head out of my ass.

The articulated, well thought out, and coherent pro dubbing comment
The nonsensical, cringe, and weak argumented anti dubbing comment

Imagine having such a meme language that you can't even have dubs movies and series

>be Italian
>school of dubbing and diction on par with japanese dubbing
>can enjoy 2 versions of the same film at the same quality
>sometimes the italian one is even better
feels good.

test

>art of dubbing
Youre literally just speaking the lines in your language moron. Its voice acting

>not wanting those sweet sweet dubs

how fucking slow do you read? watch movies like the director intended them to be watched you fucking brainlet

>voice-over

What the hell?

Based.
>be italian
>everything is dubbed, from kinos to flicks to live action series to animated series to videogames
>many times the dubbing is on par or even better than the original
>become attached to our beloved voice actors, how to forget when our beloved actors for Homer from the sneedsons passed away

>be russian
>one guy voicing all of the characters

Most dubs are unironically shit.
t. Goymany

>tfw you'd rather hear the voice of based Giannini than the original

Is italian dubbing really that good? Post some examples

The thing is, people with a functional brain don't actually notice the subtitles and instead reads them unconsciously. Your brain genuinely filters it out to the point where you don't see it and even notice it's there.

But again, that requires a normal semi-functional brain.

imagine living in a voice over country

>be italian
>be russian

Attached: PEUh12RW-600x338.jpg (600x338, 52K)

>tfw can't imagine things because my mind is too wilted and undeveloped because I grew up watching dubs

>implying I want to listen to brit accent in ancient rome setting

>watch movies like the director intended them to be watched you fucking brainlet
reading whatever's going on and missing half of the action? not being able to appreciate cinematography and shit because you're stuck reading at the bottom of the movie screen? fuck off

Russia needs to be nuked.

Dubbing is fan fiction though there are fringe cases where the dubbing elevated the boring original to cult status, like the Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill Movies here in Germany.

Dubs are fucking dumb. You just can't convey the original meaning and keep the lips synchronized. The dialogue ends up butchered.
Subs are better but even then a lot of meaning is lost in translation.

if you knew how to read past primary school level, you wouldn't have that problem

Same here in german speaking countries , i heard the french have some great dubbing as well. Don't know about the other dubbing countries

youtu.be/OCP-Y4u-beQ
Here is a comparison with other languages in a hard to dub scene. All the aggressive and tense tone from the original is perfectly captured and even better embraced.

>Not watching rome with realistic Italian dubs
kys

Attached: rome.jpg (400x249, 16K)

>not reading fast AND enjoying the cinematography

It's like seeing a move and reading a book at the same time. And you sometimes get to laugh at funny translations.

Dubbing is for normies who don't know foreign languages well enough (70% - 99% of population depending on the country)

>italian, not latin
pleb

Japanese dubbing is only good when you watch anime , live action movies dubbed in japanese are over the top and cringy as fuck.

You read when you're like 10 years old. Then you learn English because you're not a low-iq mutt. Hell, i was proficient in English at 12 years old thanks to subs and i never needed subtitles again.

But we are talking Dubbing vs Subtitles vs Voiceover here. All of these translate the original for those who don't know english well enough to understand the whole movie, your argument could be made against subtitles or voiceovers too.

>watch movies like the director intended them to be watched
so without subs

youtube.com/watch?v=2CvCnR026bU
This scene is considered already really good in english so it's very testing for voice actors, but it holds up farly well if you don't focus on the occasional mismatch between voice and mouth (I look into the eyes of the characters)

>being this much of a brainlet

Shouldn't it be Greek? At least among the patrician characters.

Attached: 1512921173808.jpg (771x886, 138K)

Fuck off falseflagging ameritard

Everyone in Europe learns english in 4th or 5th grade, only little kids and grandmas actually need or like dubbing

you guys love to pretend you watch everything subbed. I am talking about native english speakers, but you only watch hollywood crap instead of international movies. I don't defend dubbing, but you spanish and english speakers have it way easier than most countries.

They've actually started dubbing stuff in the Balkans too. Aladin and Detective Pikachu are the most recent examples

Notice that people in blue countries are vastly multilingual. Go to Hungary for example and try to speak English to someone. French and Italians also act like cunts in that regard. We learned foreign languages thanks to subtitles, dublets can't even compete.

Holy fuck, people actually watch movies like this? Jesus Christ. I feel for everyone in those low-IQ countries.

>watching Hollywood flicks
No thanks I am not to capeshit pleb

>He doesn't appreciate the beauty of other languages and finds reading too hard

Literal pleb tier, based blue countries

youtube.com/watch?v=B6-coj9oHr8
I thought the Commodo voice was really funny but Joachim Phoenix also has a weird voice in the original and it makes sense for the insecure character

it's shit. Maybe when they manage to deepfake the lips into actually making sense it could be good.

Dubbings are usually very well done by stage theater actors

>mfw literally the same dozen failed theater actors dubbing in Croatia

Alright EVERYONE here seems to be an expert and thinks they know it all. This debate is fucking old and beating a dead horse here. The question is: WHERE are you from? Are you Scandinavian, Anglo or Dutch?
>how fucking slow do you read?

You all claim to be SO INTELLIGENT yet you didn't even really UNDERSTAND what I have written there. I have told you that I was in the cinema in several different countries where they use SUBTITLES and the entire fucking AUDIENCE was all behind me and this created a delay. Now you can all give me:
>OMG OMG YOU READ SO FUCKING SLOW

Where in reality I have experienced EVERYONE in many different countries to read slow but I know how your logic works. I am stupid and I read slow and everyone else in all those other countries I have been to is also stupid and reads slow. Well guess what: Guess the majorioty is stupid then.

Really this is an argument you often have with people who DO NOT KNOW IT.
Look at this Italian for example. He gets it.
This debate is often SOUTH EUROPE vs The Rest. The Germans who are PRO dubbing won't be found on an English board. The fact a French guy is against it actually shocked me but I mean come on. We are all fluent in English here, if you are a European who lurks around here you feel superior to your local crowd so I can see why the Frenchie hates it. Like I have said I've used to hate it myself. BTW I am German so go ahead and give me even more shit.
I LOVE the Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill movies or I love Louis de Funès. Those are cult classics here. Louis talks way too fast and is way too hectic to fully subs, also JOKES do not transport well in subs. BudT. say stupid stuff in the German LOCALISATION (something you guys keep on forgetting) which could never be translated into another movie. Dubbing isn't just going from language A to lang B. Can you tell foreign accents apart? I only understand English accents but Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis with subs? I would have been lost

voiceover is great you low iq plebs

>low iq countries
Dubbing countries have the highest iq's in europe

same here in France, some performances and films were saved by the dubbing. The Mummy in Italian is kino.

that scene is kino in French too, the guy that dubs Nicholson also did Anthony Hopkins in a number of kinos

I know right?

the goat
youtube.com/watch?v=xuZeHwJdzPQ

No this is just not how it works. You can claim to be an expert all you want but the action is happening at the BOTTOM of the screen so the focus of your eyes HAVE to be at the bottom otherwise you can't read them. Sure look at the very top of the picture and focus on there and for some magical reason you will still be able to read the subs. This is NOT how it works. Your brain will always focus on what is important aka the subs and it will actually filter out what's around it so there might be a bird flying by or someone creepy standing in the background or god what do I know and you won't notice like others because YES your brain does filter out stuff and that is the stuff it is NOT focused on. Did you actually study psychology or know anything of the human brain? You are just pulling shit out of your ass that doesn't make sense and is just not logical. Your brain filters out the subtitle and yet you read it.... you should really hear yourself talk. You are full of shit.

Attached: he really is a shit.gif (250x250, 675K)

It's literally not, but keep believing in your delusions. Maybe one day they come true.
>only example of dubbing in this thread is a hollywood movie
Haha

guason

yes, the majority of people are stupid and cant read

Scandinavian.
>and the entire fucking AUDIENCE was all behind me and this created a delay
That doesn't even make any sense. Are you saying the subtitles was out of sync?

I have never once in my life experienced anything what you are describing. Hell, even if people read a bit slow how does that effect me?

Just like in documentaries
you still hear the original audio but have one guy translate everything that's being said

This. Also, about ,
Germans have the highest english speaking proficiency in Europe, without counting England or Ireland obviously. Europe's most eastern countries have the lowest. Furthermore, the accuracy of French, Spanish, or Italian dubbing shows the vast knowledge of English of the voice actors. But even without talking about English, Italy has many linguistic minorities of German, French, and Slovenian in various parts of the country, and same can be said for France.

Attached: 1558190251753.png (744x742, 158K)

>Dubbing is for normies who don't know foreign languages well enough (70% - 99% of population depending on the country)

COOL so you are fluent in French, Japanese and Korean?

>You read when you're like 10 years old. Then you learn English b

See YOU are the fucking problem and fucking cancer. You ONLY watch Anglo scum and you shit on people watching dubs when all you watch is Anglo shit. I thought this was a board for cineasts and not shitposting retards. Educate yourself and watch some movies that aren't American/British for once.

well, Italy has the highest IQ in europe. oops sorry I forgot Italians are not european according to nordicists. nevermind.

>I am too much of a brainlet to read subs and still follow the action
>Therefore other people are too!

You need to go back

Go look up an iq chart , retard. Italy and german speaking countries are on top while the sub countries like the balkans are full of brainlets.

Here they are done by actual movie stars, stage actors and well voice actors WHOSE FUCKING JOB IS TO HAVE A GOOD VOICE! Some actors just have the looks but have a terrible voice ie. Bruce Willies.

What EVERYONE seems to be forgetting here: This is for movies of planet EARTH while many of you faggots only talk about ENGLISH ENGLISH ENGLISH. As if English movies where the only thing that exists. Just neck yourselves.

Attached: slaps-and-beans-bud-spencer-terrence-hill_2776071.jpg (720x405, 68K)

That's the thing you don't understand. It takes your brain(if you actually know how to read) such a short time to read the text that it's entirely unnoticeable for you.

It's essentially like blinking. It's so fast and your brain is so used to it, it filters it away. You take in the information without even knowing you did. Like so many other things in your day to day life.
I don't even know why I have to explain this. How is this surprising to you? This is basic human brain anatomy.

The fact that the movie is shit doesn't matter in this context, dubbing countries adequately dub kino as well as the lowest of flicks. Sometimes the new dubbing elevates the overall quality of the flick since the voices are better.

>countries that do dubs are brainlets
or they have a big enough population where the film and VA industry thrives and they are not an English speaking country. Britain gets a safe pass because america shits movies and they speak the same languages. The rest of europe are ESLs who have their own film industry and therefore are able to provide with voice acting. Portugal doesn't do dubs became they suck anglo cock and have been sucking it since their birth.

>I have never once in my life experienced anything what you are describing. Hell, even if people read a bit slow how does that effect me?

Did you even read what I wrote before?
Be me, watch movie and laugh about joke in movie. Swedophiles are done reading line, start laughing while I am already done laughing. This continues throughout the entire film and I always laugh like 1/2 seconds before the rest of the audience because I am the only person who does NOT read subtitles. It is really irritating.

an actual nigger retard you are

How fucking retarded are you? I have told you many many times that I have been in cinemas and everyone was too slow in different countries but just blame it on me then.

Kek , wtf is this shit? Is this some italian ytp? Those can't be the real voices ...right?

>This is basic human brain anatomy.
>anatomy

You should look up what the word anatomy actually means because this is not anatomy.

How the fuck is this annoying to you?

>Italians are not european according to nordicists
Thats right faggot no Italian can pass for a white in north

>Italian animated series openings
IT'S TOO FUCKING KINO
youtu.be/OesMMmvADGg
Here's an American cartoon, but I also really enjoy the translated anime openings.

Yeah it's a parody/shitpost
>tfw even the parody dubbing is kino

The problem with dubbing is when the dubbed language is part of the movie, things get weird and translators have to hack something together:
youtube.com/watch?v=40HS7mxA5CQ
Pitt's character is introduced as sicilian and there is some sicilian related small talk inserted over the italian ones of the original

Most Hollywood movies are not multi-lingual so the problem is very rare

>anatomy, a·nat·o·my (ə-nătə-mē)
>The science of the shape and structure of organisms and their parts.

Hey dubfags!

If dubbing is so great then how would you dub this scene? You literally can't! Prove me wrong!

youtube.com/watch?v=q8Zca5vsUFE

if it's just one scene they can probably use some famous english song as substitute (I don't know, haven't watched this film)

fuck the walloons for dubbing their shit
>t. flemish masterrace

Dubbing or not, you're still going to read the movie in your own language.

Which dubs are worth checking out?

German, Italian, French, and Spanish (latin American too) are the starter pack.

In my country you literally can't watch undubbed films in cinemas.

Go back to your capeshit faggot

Italy? I can't imagine people watching subtitles in cinemas.

Spain. For comparison, in Japan they usually have both the dubbed and the original versions in cinemas.

>Watching shitty dubs instead of the original voices
