I haven't seen a lot of Jackie Chan movies but I saw this one and it was excellent. I honestly never knew that Jackie Chan could get mad before watching this but then the end happens.
bug kino
jackie has done a lot of edgy shit in his older movies, he even played some parts where he was kind of a pervert, which is hard for some people to imagine, his american stuff is a lot more tame, and i think at one point he made a conscious decision for his movies to be more familly oriented
Police Story is a masterpiece and my favorite action movie!!!FACT!!!
I saw a movie that was called “new police story” was that a remake?
trable
1 is kino of the highest order, 2 is good but drags at parts. New police story is okay but it's completely different than the others.
says it's a reboot that relies more on drama than the previous ones, i haven't seen the newer ones myself
KINO action and humor
Don't watch the new one. It's not awful, just mediocre.
that is hard to imagine, what films are those?
No joke I hum the police story theme to myself (which Jackie Chan himself sang) pure Kino
m.youtube.com
I have no problem watching a mediocre jackie chan movie
Some of the best action movies ever made
Police story 1 is great
Also, thoughts on Syndromes and a century ?
The first one is certified Jackiekino. My question though are the rest of them as good? Like 2 and 3 and whatever else.
i would have to go back and re watch them, but it's a lot of things like falling into a chicks boobs and getting slapped, or something sexy happens and he does the old pulling on the collar gag, things to do with like chicks panties or something, pretty much scenes where he gets slapped or shooed off
2 is pretty great i didn't even know they made a third one
I hope youre not watching the atrocious Criterion version
2 is at least as good as 1.
Take a shot every time you see a Mitsubishi logo.
Don't encourage alcoholism
I see what you mean, sort of like Benny Hill type stuff. I think there was a little of that in Police Story with the girl he was protecting.
Jackie should have gone into music if he ever crippled himself during a stunt
Very Hong Kong comedy
Whats wrong with it?
I remember watching the Protector and being surprised when they showed the heroin lab.
are you talking about the tony jaa movie? that and ong bak had heaps of drug shit
eyy, I was just about to start a thread to ask for his best films after watching the entirety of Police Story.
1 is a really good mix of action and comedy.
2 is more or less the same thing but it has that crazy fight on a kid's playground, very well choreographed.
3 didn't catch my attention, maybe I need to rewatch it because apparently it has better critics.
4 is boring except for the very last fight in the aquarium.
New Police Story is depressing and is a reboot/spiritual successor, not with the same characters. But the action is still good and the bad guys are really despicable.
And finally 2013 is edgy and kinda soulless and jackie doesnt do much shit, but I can't help but love him in the end.
So now that I'm done, what other movies of him should I watch?
They fucked up the video transfer for 1 and 2
he already is in music
en.wikipedia.org
2 feels like they literally took two scripts for a sequel idea and mashed them together. THey're obviously setting up one guy as the villain, but then drop it and do something else. It's good for what it is, and has some great action sequences.
drunken master one and two
youtube.com
Project A, 1 and 2 are really good imo
Fun all around
Robin B. Hood is absolute absurdist kino
Rumble in the Bronx is my favorite, it's great
Who Am I? is great
The Operation Condor movies; while filming a stunt in the first one, Jackie fell out of a tree and fractured his skull, almost died
Mr. Nice Guy
I like watching them in English for the wacky dub and silly dialogue.
wheels on meals is also really good
>when his gf comes in and pushes cake in his face
suffering
>when he's talking about his gf to salina.
what are the best donnie yen movies fucking hated ip man 1 & 2 but he seems like a cool dude
>when he accidentally pulls her off her scooter
Ive seen almost all jackie chan flicks and most of them are at least worth watching. Most of them have very little story and youre only there for the action, but the action is really good. Maybe 2010 onwards it gets a little wonky. Clearly hes made some movies only because the chinese government asked him to or just to have fun. That one movie where he sings Rolling in the Deep was just embarrassing and Skiptrace was like china trying to copy hollywood and failing miserably. Weird editing and music.
she even remembers it in the second movie
I saw the 2nd movie ages ago, didn't even realise it was the same girlfriend. That's my brain on alchohol
the tape in the fucking coutroom
holy fuck
>I was very nasty to you before but now i'm sick and peniless
:(
Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh are absolutely kino together.
they overdid it with the drama and it drags on for too long.
I like the ending song, sung by Jackie himself
youtube.com
he's a pretty good singer
youtube.com
remember when he wasn't in Tekken 7 but Harada said if classic characters came back you would NEVER have to pay for them? Can't find those tweets anymore, now he's paid dlc
They're both good. 3 has Michelle Yeoh being based as fuck too
1 and 2 are kino
3 is shit
4 is best Jackie kino.
New is shit
Holy shit
Bruce Lee never sang
Mei ching chong! New Police Story is a drama with high class action and stunts. The comic relief character is not Jacky, but I like it. The 2013 Police Story is more of a low budget straight to DVD production.
bump
1 and 2 are good. 1 is probably the best, but I prefer 2 for the action.
3 and 4 are a mixed bag. Pretty mediocre overall, but the action is still good, even amazing at times.
New police story is kinda bad. You won't miss much skipping it.
>Also, thoughts on Syndromes and a century ?
That seems pretty random.
Anyway if you are into contemplative cinema you may get something out of it. I personally found it boring. I don't mind slow burns but that just didn't do much for me. It's also pretty pointless by design I think.
>the fight with the negresses in Armour of god
kino
thoughts on the one where he has a retarded brother? i haven't seen it in a long time, wondering if it's worth rewatching
He's amazing
youtu.be
he's crippled himself multiple times. motherfucker just keeps on going.
Every hong kong production since snake in eagle's shadow. Maybe leave the lucky star movies for last.
Spl is great.
Flash point is good too but only has a good fist fight in the end, so not really a martial art movie (that fight is amazing though).
Kung fu jungle is dumb, but I really really really dig the action.
Once upon a time in china ii is great (as is the whole series) but he has a secondary role so not really a donnie yen movie.
Iron monkey is a fun watch, but far from a favorite.
There is a Michelle Yeoh mivie where they show her doing the stunts during the credits. Anyone know which one and if I can just see the stunts online?
i think he means Dragons Forever. there's a heroin/coke lab dumping toxic chemicals into the water and of course a really fucking good fight sequence takes place there.
best set piece in any action movie ever. absolute kino I need to watch it again
Sammo Hung is based and any Jackie Chan movie is improved with his presence.
this what you are talking about?
No, I think it's one of her solo movies. I haven't seen it but I've heard several ppl say it has a crazy stunt where she got really hurt.
the first one is kino
the second one has some amazing moments but it focuses more on the story, which by all accounts is pretty shit and not what Jackie's movies are about
the third one (Supercop) isn't as good of a movie as the first, but the stunts are fucking crazy and make the first movies stunts look like baby shit
No one on tv has seen old jackie chan movies? Are u people responding to your own posts?
a lot of people probably grew with single moms, so they didnt have cool dads to watch jackie with, that's the only explanation i can think of
Ah Kam aka Stunt Woman 1996
>During the shooting of one sequence, the story required Michelle's character to get PUSHed off from a freeway overpass. First Michelle succeeded a 60 foot jump for a long shot. But things went wrong when they were shooting with a lower bridge for a close up shot. This time it was an 18 foot bridge and there were some cardboard boxes and mattresses to soften her fall. But the force of being pushed made her out of balance. Instead of landing on her chest as planned, she landed on her head and her legs went over her head. Her then personal assistant (Philip Hemnell) recalls that: "She had basically folded in half backwards. If she hadn't been as flexible as she was, she would probably have been maimed or killed." Michelle suffered deep-tissue bruising and a cracked rib. The fall also worsened her old spinal injury.
He's fine. I think there are way more sammo hung movies that are improved by jackie than the contrary
Thanks bro
apparently her spinal injury kept her out of ballet school, so she got into martial arts and doing stunts instead? i just find that funny, she is pretty badass though
I watched a lot of the older Jackie Chan movies. I don't really remember most of them, only the most memorable titles like Half a Loaf of Kung-Fu.
Most of them are just goofy as hell, similar storylines, and they reuse the same footage. I think about 20 of his older movies have thats same clip of him naked and chasing frogs
There are things you don´t know about the big man
iirc she was never a "martial artist" like Chan, but her ballet training made it easy to do film martial arts. filming one or two crazy stunts once per year is a lot easier than the daily stress ballet puts on a back.
thanks bud looking into them now
something about those old chinese movies where everything is dusty and people are poor or homeless, stealing chickens and sleeping in barns...a life of total freedom, super comfy
>being poor and homeless
>freedom
snake in the eagles shadow is kino
you just don't get it man
It's good but it kinda suffers from Jackie not yet playing the more cheeky persona he adopted from Drunken Master onward. It's kind of an odd role for him.
He's pretty cheeky there as well though
>he doesn't know
youtube.com
BAM, BAM BAM, BAMBAM, BAMBAMBAM
How many movies in the series?
5 I think
Not his best movies but the first 2 are ok.
what are his best ones
not him but OBJECTIVELY these are his top 5

City Hunter
A nice mix of all of Jackie has to offer.
For me it's
Legend of drunken master
Police story 1/2
Project A
Dragons forever
Snake in eagle's shadow
>City Hunter
