What if we let the PEOPLE decide?

>What if we let the PEOPLE decide?
Would it have worked?

yikes what a fat faggot is this from 4channel the show

Who knows? A true democracy has never existed and never will.

Nothing he said would have saved the show from the dumpster fire it already was.

What if the king was chosen by digits

Attached: 1559003534736.jpg (400x400, 50K)

There is no absolute way a democracy would have been even remotely feasible in Westeros.

only your magnificent hypercriticism could have saved it, user. godspeed

how the would democracy function in a world where everyone but nobility is illiterate

>What? You expect me to lose weight to reflect the hardships my character goes through? You realize this is a show with ZOMBIES and DRAGONS, right?

look at those fucking quads of tarley

Then you'd lose
check em

Barely works in places where most people have a complete mandatory education, so thats a stupid idea

The Iron Islands elect their king.

Democracy came from two violent revolutions, from the people who were starting to be overcentralized, allowing for partisanship
In the French case the world declared war on the new republic to reinstore monarchy, it had to brute force its way into modern history
In Westeros democracy would come from one man (who hasn't read plato) telling the world "hey guys, you get to decide who's king!" , in total indifference for power.
What would have happened is that they would vote for their lords and the most populous regions would win everytime until one man coups his way to the throne, and no one would have batted an eye

Good, westeros deserves to burn

Stannis wins

AGHHHHHH DUBS HELP ME

(checked)
One word, just one word: analphabetism

>they all laugh, even the women
based

Stannis will win by paying the iron price and kill that Dragon slut.

no. too many margins of error and opportunity for corruption for a fuedal society

4channel is so good

Europe already had republics before the 18th century, dating all the way back to Rome.

Westeros doesn't really resemble any European medieval state. It manages to both lack a feudal system that people believe in, and any other institutions that, in real history, led to the formation of democracies.

It's a fantasy series, don't compare it to real life.

>spent months in the most terrible conditions
>forced walks in the snow
>nothing to eat
>still fat as fuck
I guess he ate his plot armor

They couldn't help themselves. I'm surprised they didn't have someone dab or allude to the coming technology of phones.

Digits is a laddah

Attached: 1477592961934.jpg (805x638, 47K)

what if we choose a cripple as our president? would that work?

Was this D&Ds jab at the U.S. political system?

>lords start terrorizing peasants to make certain they vote for them
>essentially whoever has the most peasants wins
>but lords could even fake untold amounts of votes
>no more claims to the throne means anyone who feels the election didn't go as planned can simply ousted the king with no consequence so long as they have the power to
>war of five kings every election

And this is assuming that an actual system could be set up. Who would actually be able to be trusted with the power of collecting and tallying these votes from the peasantry. No one, no not even the maesters, especially not the maesters.
The obvious answer to the ending would be to have all the kings become independent and no longer vying for power (YOU KNOW LIKE YOU FUCKING IMPLIED WIT THAT MELTING THE THRONE SCENE YOU FUCKING HACKS) given none of them had any right to rule the others.

A cripple who's also the brother of the queen of an independent kindom in the north and who's also an imortal forest wizard being that knows and sees everything in the past and present. Really sounds like something the common people would want and I'm sure both the higher and lesser lords and the clergy will support.
Genius.

democracies are only really able to exist when a significant amount of power is in the hands of the merchant/trade caste. without this there's no reason to give the poorfag masses power because they don't have any power to begin with, whereas in the classical republics and modern nations the cash flow is almost entirely in trade.

when manorialism is your prime economic model, feudalism is a natural response. but yeah, this all falls down when you realize that the institutions (schools, the Church, monasteries, easily-accessible trade routes, etc.) that Martin cuts out are some of, if not the, biggest makers of the society he puts down and the ones that come later. One of the big reasons peace was possible in the medieval war was that everyone followed the church, so starting a war the church didn't explicitly approve of meant the pope calls open season on YOU and then you get tag-teamed by neighboring powers vying to cut up your land

As king I will institute brap barns

sounds familiar

look around you and ask yourself

How did this fat fuck manage to stay as fat as he is while Gilly got infinitely fatter?

>The obvious answer to the ending would be to have all the kings become independent

>the north declares independence from the throne
>the queen of the ironborn, the kingdom that's been trying to seceed for the entire length of the show and that even fought war over this in the past, who only allied with the mad dragon bitch because she promised her independece sits right there next to sansa and doesn't say a word

The ending was a complete and utter trainwreck. There's literal nothing to salvage out of that failed attempt to tie their own hack writing and the rough outline the fat man gave them together.

Cringe and bluepilled

Also only in small city states with extremely limited franchise.
If we take Westeros as an example, there are probably tens of thousands of people in bumfuck nowhere who don't even know Robert died. Are they gonna send people with ballot boxes everywhere in Westeros, explain what the fuck voting is and who the candidates are, and expect anyone to give a fuck which lord gets to sit themselves on a chair? They were right to laugh at the idea

it was a jab at the idiots who wrote theories about the story ending with democracy

basedmure

The fastest way to get fat yourself is to hang out with fat people. This is especially the case with women.

Why was KL suddenly fine after Bran took over? The city should be a disease-ridden shithole with people starving and dying in the shells of burnt out buildings and the surrounding area awash with refugees
The victors don't have anywhere near the capability to triage the sheer number of people who would have been wounded in the sack of the city, let alone feed and water them or prevent infections and typhus/cholera. You'd probably see the population of the city drop to less than ten thousand from the million pre-battle

Attached: fitzjames-136426423604202601.jpg (810x456, 37K)

must have had a good tax policy

Fat people can still starve.

Don't forget about Dorne, so stubbornly independent that Aegon couldn't even conquer it, but then Thenew Martel seems find bowing to the tree magic king.

It doesn´t even work IRL and you think it could have worked in a world with an education level akin to the dark ages?

Fuck danny fags
STANNIS IS THE ONE TRUE KING

Unfortunately, no. The sad fact of the matter is that the vast majority of people have no idea how to keep a country running and ultimately need to be controlled. Letting people vote in the setting of Westeros where morality is skewed and the majority of peasants don't know shit about anything would have been horrendous for the land and its people. Much better for each house to have one spokesperson who is learned in politics and knows the will of their people and votes on their behalf.

Does no one remember that it was Sam who abused the flaw in the true democratic vote to get Jon elected as Lord Commander?

George better tell us about his tax and genocide policies in the last book. Don't fall into the same trap as Tolkien

Yes, because the people would have chosen Jon Snow.

DnD subverted my last braincell

joffrey

dubs for Stannis, trips for Jof the thot slayer

op was quads so stannis wins

I bet there was some theorycraft guy absolutely creaming his pants and squealing with joy when Sam suggested the democracy only to get mocked 2 seconds later

confirmed

Exactly. Westeros lacks any kind of burgher class that we have any focus on, as well as what was probably the defining feature of medieval life, the church.

Westeros is basically disneyland.

"People" are lazy, entitled bastards that don`t know what is good for them.

>maybe we should give the women a vote as well

>what if we turned to anarcho-primitivism?
Could it have worked?

We've already got a mental cripple as president though.

So thats why USA is the true Land of the free, they have the largest burger class in the world

Even NOW democracy doesn't work in most of the world. Why would it have worked back then?

>then id be king

Attached: carder.jpg (400x400, 28K)

yes
until women got the vote

>looks at the screen
>this is your chance to put your favorite character on the throne
>for jon: press 1... for tyrion: press 2 ...

Sam is a retard and GRRM is a bigger idiot if he thinks an elected monarchy will not end in absolute failure. The best way forward for westboros would be an constitutional monarchy

Unironically a better ending.
Subversive too.

there are also 7 kingdoms. most people probably have no idea who the candidates are.

Because people are retards and confuse a representative republic with a "democracy"

>vote on our Facebook page, and dont forget to watch the grand finale next month after the poll ends and a winner is chosen, for more information follow our official Twitter accounts

All hail Bran the rape-o-vision

are we supposed to believe that he is intelligent? a medieval infraestructure and their limited communications demands feudalism and independent warlords. if they let everyone decide they will either forced to vote their local lords or whatever lords they know, which is clear will be little. not to mention the complete dissaster it will be to let everyone vote, there will be certain corruption and vote fraud because the seven kingdoms are so big and imposible to completely supervise.

bow you shits

beautiful

Then seven realms would rule by BOAR

Attached: THE BOOOOAR.jpg (368x322, 60K)

Dubs for the Qarth merchant prince.

DARKSTAR

No king yet, this is really bad. Luckily I'm here and ready to take this on me.

I am a Stannis chad. I bow only to the one true king.

No. "The people" are uneducated, illiterate trash.

MOMMY MILKIES

>a representative from Dorne would be agitating for his candidate to some dirt farmers in the Riverlands that barely even recognize that Dorne exists
the election could have been its own season

>half the season is Robin being accused of working with the Braavosi

oh and by the way. why didn't the other kingdoms instantly call for independence after Sansa went full retard with that tantrum? why would they need to remain attached to the crown, when Salsa broke the rules. This goes after Tyrion's "stories unite us" speech. Why? why would they submit to autist king if they can leave? If I were chadmure I would independize and conquer the North and remand Sansa to marry Chadmure.

dubs for radmure

then bow

fuck off fatass

HE HAS ARRIVED

>Yara wins the popular vote but Sam wisely decided to include electoral college in the last draft of the bill

BOW YOU SHITS

only if people = whites

>series ends with sam proposing a "constitution of rights!"
bravo dumbndumber

I don't know man. the Dornish are the most advanced (in the books) socially. they even give subventions to their population paid by their nobles.

FETCH THE DUBS STRETCHER

Democracy isn't just bad, it's downright immoral. My neighbors can't even feed themselves or bathe their kids yet they get to dictate government policy to me.

>haha imagine if we let a whole country with millions of people all just decide on who's in charge without any basic kind of test to make sure they know who the candidates are, what they stand for, or even guarantee they understand the basic principles of the system they live in
haha imagine haha

CHECK THESE DUBS BEFORE I PISS MESELF

the dark imperium novels would be better if that was an actual quote

Pretty much the same as it does now.

How come bikes never existed in GoT times? I know they didn't have science back then but shit even I could probably put together a working bike with some sticks and rope

Attached: 1558365420394.jpg (983x500, 97K)

no you couldn't

memes aside, if you used rope and wood for that, your bike would catch on fire after a couple hundred feet
same reason those large ass ballista were improbable
The directors don't understand what happens when you scale things up

Jon Snow

I cannot fathom how you could have a fair election, given the size and technology of Westeros.

DELETE THIS

Robert is the only true king, fuck the targs.

The leaders of democracies are chosen by whoever controls the media in that country.

Dubs? I don't want it. She's muh queen

Is there a way to torrent the first seasons? I want to rewatch them and publichd is no longer around, apparently.

Why does that face piss me off so much? I cant explain it

Shitty character played by an even shittier actor.
