Just saw it. Did I like it?
Godzilla: King of the Monsters

You loved it
You're in awe. It was KINO
You did
>You will never experience this masterpiece in IMAX again
feelsFUCKINGbad
Maybe it's the cope talking, but perhaps it's for the best that it under performed. At least this way the genre doesn't get pumped full of soi like what happened to super heroes and Sci-Fi.
Seen it twice and it's even better the second time. One of the craziest films I've ever seen. The bit where they open the under water shields is KINO. 9/10 easily the best action movie of the year. So far.
Kino of the decade.
Seriously, what a great introduction for godzilla in this movie.
Yes
IT WAS THE MOST BASED MOVIE OF THE YEAR
>MFW THEY DO AN EMERGENCY BLOW TYPE SURFACE LIKE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, BUT ITS A NUCLEAR BLASTWAVE THAT LAUNCHED THEM
AWESOME
You gave it a 7/10. The monster fights were good, the human shit was annoying but no worse than MCU
Everything with the monsters being on screen was brilliant, but the absolutely and utterly uninteresting human characters drag it all down considerably. It wouldn't even be that bad if that shit wasn't like 80% of the movie. It's even worse than Godzilla 2014.
THE MONSTER FIGHTS ARE THE WHOLE PURPOSE
THE ACCOMPANYING MILITARY SHIT WAS ALSO GOOD
PEOPLE WISE ITS JUST HONORABRU SERIZAWA, BUT NO RET ZEM FITE IN THIS MOVIE
okay
this was good. set him up perfectly for the rest of the kino.
I was shocked when I found out this guy isn't Jewish.
This movie did diversity right. Few Japs, few blacks, few whites. It felt natural all the way through and pretty much everyone was based and gave a great performance. The main guy, Tywin, the Japanese dude were all fucking great. Even the stranger things girl had some good moments
Science is always the best reason for diversity. Never feels forced for them all to be in the same room.
>the only good human character dies
>Was going to see it in imax
>Hurt my back
>Finally see it tonight in my shitty local theatre because it's not in imax anymore anyways
At least I saw it
Is this movie a stark reminder that ecoterrorists and hippies are always wrong, and that nuclear power will save us all?
IF UR EVER FEELING A BIT RUN DOWN JUST TAKE A NUCLEAR BOMB TO THE FUCKING FACE
So much poster bait with every scene with a monster. I loved it.
WOWOWOWZA
Delet this
Yes. You did. After you recognize it, you now have a leg up to those who will rush to praise it in the popular re-assessment that will come within a few years.
>GIVING A FLYING FUCK ABOUT POPULAR SENTIMENT
I ASSESSED IT PROPERLY WITH THE FIRST TRAILER AND WAS REWARDED OPENING NIGHT IN IMAX
AND TO BE HONEST THE TRAILERS WERE IRRELEVANT
ITS A GIANT MONSTER MOVIE I WAS GONNA SEE IT AUTOMATICALLY
THE ONLY REASON AT ALL TO CARE ABOUT ITS PERFORMANCE WITH THE PLEBS IS TO GET MORE OF THESE MOVIES WHICH ARE ALL BASED
Ghidorah should not be this sexy
Hopefully they didn't ruin GVK with all the shitty "comedy" that brought this movie down. It tried to be marvel quips: monster edition and failed miserably.
After streaming/physical sales, I'm sure its going to yield a some (smallish) profit, even if you assume the higher than reported budget estimate and P&A costs. If Zirra v Kong does gangbusters, I could see the license being extended.
Sadly, even if we get something post Kong, it prob wouldn't include Dougherty--which is a shame, as I think if can tighten his scripts (which shouldnt be an issue given how tight Krampus and, esp, Trick r Treat were) this is a guy who clearly loves the material, has guven the series a few truly iconic scenes, and with another bite at the apple, I'm sure could bring a film that addressed some flaws some observed.
I want that nigga to do the solo Mothra kino
it wasn’t that bad. you’re probably thinking about the gonerhea joke and the god...zilla joke.
Those were top of the list but the cringey shit about blurring genitals and mothra and Godzilla being shipped was just retarded. Same with most of what MBB's character did. She was shit.
If any Legendary/WB suits are ITT--and I know you are or are seeing this--this is the idea. If you continue this universe post Kong, and want to take in "a different direction" for the main films, give Dougherty a smaller budget standalone for Mothra or Rodan. February release material-tier budget. No studio mandates. It would't set the box office records but it could be a very solid hit if you keep budget low enough. This guy did something right enough to where probably a majority of fans love this film (which for godzilla movie, is pretty good for this fandom). There's something to grow on here.
Monsterverse needs to grow and expand, I want more. I just hope they let Goji win in GVK, it will fucking crash and burn the series if Kong asspulls a victory all to appease the West because MUH GIANT EMPATHETIC APE! Let Goji embrace the whole protector of the Earth thing, he doesn't have to kill Kong, just have Goji win. Apparently people said they did see mention of Goji actively protecting humans in that credits scene with all the headlines.
Oh and I want a Ghidorah standalone movie, I fucking hate prequels but some user mentioned a movie about Ghidorah fucking annihilating another world somewhere far off, just decimating all the kaiju of the world and eradicating the landscape and local populace until it's fucking nothing and he moves on to the next one.
