Why yes, I hold a keen interest in Japanese cinema. Want to borrow my Ozu collection?
>Ozu
Ah yes, the mainstream, the bread and butter of someone who just read a two block article about nip kino. Come back if you watched Guerilla Highschoolers.
I watched a ton of 40s-60s Jap kino a few years back and liked most of it, but Ozu's stuff was just too slow and domestic. I watched his Three Seasons trilogy or whatever it's called and then called it quits on him.
I appreciate your response, but my initial post included a prominent figure like Ozu to promote a welcoming atmosphere to my thread. It would be improper of me to introduce such a broad topic with a name like Ko Nakahira or Yasuzo Masumura. And as for personal taste, my heart lies with the dual New Wave collaborations of Kimifusa Abe and Hiroshi Teshigahara.
is this achievable natty?
shitty meme
>yep i am saving myself for the right person, what gave it away?
>what movie do i plan on playing for her? good question. stardust or fellowship of the ring. why do you ask?
Just when I thought this shitty meme couldn't get worse.
>Tokyo Story? Isn't that a 1:1 copy of the superior Make Way For Tomorrow?
>Stop! You can't expose one of the all-time greats like that!
Is that his final form?
No, Giga-Chad needs to keep evolving until he becomes a cube of ab muscles.
Absolute based lad. I aspire to reach your greatness when I grow up.
>yellow fever? why, of course I have it
it's not fair bros how does he keep doing it?
th-this is a photoshop, r-right? chads are just a myth, right? i mean, if that guy existed, every female would throw themselves at him, shamelessly flirting with/sucking off him in front of their beta provider boyfriends.
this never actually happens, right?
its not a shop.
I'm sorry user, but Chad has advanced onto a metaphysical level; able to break the space-time continuum and simultaneously hook up with millions of women. In turn, preventing you from finding your true love.
based and thoughtful pilled
I am a newbie to asian cinema. Could you recommend some mid/entry level kinos to consume?
Is this achievable natty?
Asian cinema in general? Definitely check out Edward Yang. Yi Yi and A Brighter Summer Day, in particular, are heralded as two of the highest-rated works from Taiwan, then look into Hou Hsiao-hsien and Tsai Ming-liang if you want more from the country. Over to South Korea, Lee Chang-Dong is a personal favourite. He's gotten a lot of attention for Burning, but I would go back a tad earlier and watch Oasis and Poetry, some of the most powerful work that's come out of the national industry. For Japanese cinema, Hirokazu Kore-eda is a great director who focuses on capturing the essence of everyday life. He's like a modern-day, more accessible Ozu. It should be easy to find a copy of Shoplifters, just don't forget about Still Walking and Nobody Knows.
