>Dune will never work as a visual medium. It's mostly philosophy.
People said EXACTLY that for Story of Your Life and Villeneuve made Arrival.
Dune will never work as a visual medium. It's mostly philosophy

Every other damn fiction book is considered "unfilmable" by fanboys who don't know what the hell they're talking about. There really aren't that many novels that couldn't be made decently into a movie.
And people were right.
Arrival is the best movie of 2016.
Arrival was pretentious pseudo-intellectual drivel for insecure women with a degree in humanities.
It was fucking dogshit.
Arrival was shit
samefags
are faggots itt really disliking Arrival or am i being memed
I agree with this, though I also think the later Dune books such as God Emperor are among the unfilmable books. No problem making Dune and Children though, and I am really excited about Villeneuve's take.
bitch
>a literal videogame manchild
yikes
You're not fooling anyone with inspect element retard
Maybe God emperor of dune can work by focusing on the characters that surround Leto
>OpenOffice in 2019
You don't want to see a giant slug god amuse himself by taping a dildo to his body and shaking it at his slaves?
>not using macOS
You know that saying "it takes one to know one"? It's never been more applicable.
>giving a fuck what program is displaying the words I'm reading
Unironically, have sex.
I actually shopped it pixel by pixel.
>
I haven't been this excited for a movie since The Return Of The King. It's going to be amazing
>You know that saying "it takes one to know one"
I went to youtube to see which manchild video is that and it sure is.
Will this make or break Villeneuve’s career? Sicario and Enemy were successful for mid-budget films, and Arrival was critically acclaimed, but 2049 seemed to underperform. By all indications Dune is the same as 2049: niche enough that normies need it explained, long enough to lose the ADHD audience, and with a bloated budget that eats into an otherwise respectable box office performance. Honestly what makes it different from 2049 in those terms?
Will it be a trilogy? No way in hell they'll condense all of Dune into a two and a half hour film.
>2049 seemed to underperform
No one blames Villeneuve for that in this industry, the audience consensus is amazing. Shit like that happens.
Two films out of the first book.
Makes sense then. I'm guessing the second film starts with Paul and Jessica escaping the Harkonnens?
Dune has a slight chance of becoming the next thing normalfags rave about like LOTR, especially after got.
Blade Runner is just normalfag repellent through and through
That's where the made for TV flick broke it up, but that was three parts. I'm thinking around there or when they first meet the Fremen.
Yea Forums has a very crude view of how movie industry works. Just because a film wasn't a big box office success, doesn't mean the producers regret making it. If a movie is good and breaks about even (which is the case with BR 2049), that means people got paid, relationships with subcontactors were strengthened, tax shenanigans were made, brand presence was upheld, awards were collected and now the owners of the rights have a solid position in their library that they can make residual income on for years to come.
They'd let him make another BR 2049 in a heartbeat.
I hope the normies don't go in expecting SW pewpew and laserswords. They are really going all in on this and it looks like it could be a very faithful and excellent kino to one of my favorite novels.
And Arrival was garbage compared to Story of Your Life
While I don't disagree with a lot of this, do you think they'd bother with a BR2050 after a lukewarm response? I think it was the marketing that let down 2049, but these people are all about profit.
A faithful adaptation of Story of Your Life would be garbage to be honest
A faithful film adaptation wouldn't be possible since the ambiguity of Story of Your Life rests on it being a text
> Arrival was pretentious pseudo-intellectual
this movie has nothing to do with intelligence or intellectual understanding you fucking retard, it has to do with emotional understanding
only women understand things emotionally
t. soulless tranny
western civilization is about sublimation of emotions you degenerate tranny
Well, my emotional understanding is that the movie was fucking stupid and the main character was a bitch.
They already fucked up with their casting. This movie is going to bomb. Dune doesn't translate well to film and Villenuvo ain't up to it.
Lower your estrogen levels, gals
>western civilization is about changing emotions from solid to gas
BRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
I'm not going to see Dune because they cast a nigger as Chani.
Fremen should be arabic or central asian not negroid or mulatto.
I don't want to look at some ugly nigger with a squashed nose playing Chani I want to see a cute caucasoid.
Gonna cry? Gonna piss your pants ? Maybe? Maybe shit and cum?…
played yourself
user NEVER waste your life or time with such petty bullshit. that user is clearly retarded.
>Fremen should be arabic or central asian
nice headcanon
Fremen should be Nordic
I agree but I'll watch it anyway because I hate arabs, too, so it isn't that much worse than it would have been.
>dude if you learn a language you get magic powers!! because that's totally the same as African third worlders learning that the concept of past and future exist!!
No, he absolutely failed.
What are some movies with actual philosophy in them?
She didn't just learn a language, she physically interacted with the ayylmaos and even had sex with them in the floating weightless semen room in the ship.
Also nice of you to expose yourself as a plot point mental midget
The sperging of aside, Fremen should be some future neo-mongrel-bastardized-space Arabs, but Zendaya works well enough for that.
The Pervert's Guides to Cinema/Ideology and that's about it
>>dude if you learn a language you get magic powers!!
you autistic fuck can't even understand that the movie is about emotions so your suspension of disbelief is broken by a magic language
If fags like you are so hellbent on emotionalism, you should like the short story more since it's a more personal story instead of ending with China threatening to nuke aliens
Arrival is a highly personal story. Literally a film about a mother daughter relationship and grief.
The ayylmaos and the le science is just the setting where it takes place in.
That's why I'm asking why you don't like Story of Your Life better since it doesn't involve convincing a Chinese stranger to call off a military attack. In fact it doesn't involve the military or governments at all.
I also saw it as a pretty stunning recharacterization of right to life/right to choose. Renner would not have chosen to have the child had he been given the a priori knowledge Amy Adams had. Yet still the choice was taken away from him and he was powerless to stop it. A metaphor of women's control of a baby in utero.
based
anything by bele terr
>People said EXACTLY that for Story of Your Life
Gonna need a source on that one my friend.
it's like they're afraid of (((books))) going out of style or some shit
except arrival worked on a visual level. its the script that sucked dick
