Why didnt they just drop a nuke on it?? problem solved.
Why didnt they just drop a nuke on it?? problem solved
Theoritcally why couldnt this work?
ummm nukes are made of radiation stupid
okay this is bait but seriously, why didn't they just get a crane and lifting the destroyed core out of there and dumping it in the sea or somewhere empty?
Sounds like a joke, but wouldn't that actually work? Wouldn't the nuclear chain reaction of the explosion use the uranium or plutonium of the reactor core as explosion mass and get rid of it much faster by turning it into explosion energy?
First, because corium is incredibly dense and would be a nightmare to transport for this reason alone.
And then there's the slight issue of it being so radioactive at the time that unearthing it would cause every single living creature in sight of it to die of radiation poisoning within the week.
It would imply putting the weapon in direct contact with the melted core, which could theoretically be possible, but as a general rule, detonating a nuke on the ground is a very bad idea, because the explosion would send tons of radioactive soil and dust dozens or even hundreds of miles away, especially if you detonate it in a place which is already heavily irradiated. So basically you'd end up with slightly less radiation overall, but spread over a much larger area.
no
okay this is bait but seriously, why didn't they just use big trebucehts to launch sand and boron into the core instead of inefficiently using helicopters and hoping that the wind carries it where it should go?
Wouldn't that throw molten radioactive material into the air and additionally produce it's own cloud of radioactive particles, massively compounding the problem?
>tfw that's actually a pretty good point
Shit
it was faster to use something they had and knew how to use instead of something they didn't have and didn't know how to use properly
Why didn't Chernobyl just have sex?
I honestly don't know who believe on this supposed disaster. Some act like this wasn't that big of a deal but obviously the accepted rhetoric (that I'd always heard my entire life) is that it was terrible.
Why didn't they use the eagles to drop water on the fire?
I read, that bureaucracy was big problem.
Many practical ideas couldn't be realised, because adobe commites would have had to decide before.
That the "biorobots" had to clean the roof was insane. I can't imagine, that there wouldn't have been some way, to sweep at least a lot stuff from the roof with some crude mechanism.
Why didn't they get a bunch of niggers from Angola to do all the cleanup work?
they'd probably steal the (alleged) graphite
Could have given someyhing valuable to Kim Jong Il and thousands of north korean chinks could have cleaned up, dig the hole, eat the dogs in no time.
based
For the same reason firemen don't put fires out with actual fire.
Why didn't someone just chuck a bucket of ice over it?
and what reason would that be?
Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is Radiaton Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Nuclear Power Plant Like Nigga Close Your Eyes Haha.
Why did they not put a giant bowl of glass over it?
