movie could have been half as long. the propaganda, the teacher talking about the failure of democracy, rico joins the military, argentina gets destroyed, they quickly get to the planet, it goes terribly, so the top general is replaced by a woman of color so that nobody can criticize the war, they turn the tide, they win, but the war keeps going.

normally I'd want the characters fleshed out more but these characters sucked so much, and somebody's gonna explain why that's the point and they're bad on purpose. but this movie is so god damned long and doesn't say enough about the nature of the state to justify it.
