He was right, not his problem the waitress doesn't get paid a decent salary.

>not his problem the waitress doesn't get paid a decent salary.
Technically true, if servers want to be paid fairly they need to do the right thing and unionize.

tipping is the prisoner's dilemma w/r/t altruism. Tipping is stupid and should be banned, but if you don't tip you're a sociopath.

euros are always wrong

>le drag out a scene for 10 minutes arguing over tips x-DD
Tarantino is the BEST director! Haha!

I only tip immigrants

i tip really well to demonstrate how money means nothing to me and i have lots to just piss away while theyre slaving away like mendicants

Attached: 1558370556572.gif (400x241, 1.47M)

I'd gladly go to the kitchen and pick up my food myself. Fuck tipping.

>Was he wrong or right?
Depends on what the waitress gets paid hourly.

Why do people care what other people do with their money?

Technically, yes. If the server goes above and beyond, then yeah, I'll leave a tip. But beyond that, no, it's not my responsibility to boost a waitress/waiter's wage. Look, I know the food industry sucks, and I can sympathize, but I'm there to pay for the prices listed. I don't fuck with people who handle my food either. If something is wrong with my order, I'll politely ask for aid (though thankfully this rarely ever happens).

What pisses me off though are places like Panera Bread asking for tips at checkout. Motherfucker I go to the window myself when my food is ready, you don't do shit except hit buttons on a keypad.

Attached: Doctor Cox.jpg (1668x938, 140K)

I'm not going to pass on my poverty to another if they do a good job that I'm asking them to do. Americans that don't tip when deserved are fucking vultures. Know world culture differs, but it is petty and childish not tip when someone deserves one.

>going to a restaurant where every single customer is allowed in the food prep area.
NOPE.jpg

because earning is a zero sum game and people think what they'd do with the money is somehow better, like buy digital lootboxes or engagement rings for undeserved thots

I didn't mean it literally. I'd pick it from a counter, not enter the kitchen myself.

Is the counter outside of the kitchen food prep area?

roastie

yea imagine if you had to get your own food lol

Obviously wrong

>Why do people care what other people do with their money?
Because they're COMMUNISTS!

The more you tip the bartender, the stronger she makes the drinks next time.

Attached: Gangsta.png (647x1120, 748K)

Because what other people do with there money has an impact on what's expected of me. If everybody tips, I am expected to do so too. If people buy retarded shit, then the industry changes to cater to them instead of me.

>20%
fuck off with that shit it was 15% stop trying to fuck me in the ass.

>times it
Not taking advice from the mentally deficient

He was in the right. I’ve started eating at restaurants even more for the sole purpose of not tipping afterwards. Nothing can describe the feeling of childlike giddiness and sneakiness of penning a line through “TIP” on the receipt and slithering away into the crowd before the waitress returns. It’s such a thrill, especially after a pricy meal with liquor.
>inb4 wagie copealots tell me my food is spit in or some other shit

I wait an extended amount of time before returning and never get the same waitress.

>Is the counter outside of the kitchen food prep area?
Not in certain restaurants

>yea imagine if you had to get your own food lol
imagine if everyone who you don't know where they've been are near the area where your food is either being made or is waiting for you to pick up.

you really want a dude who hasn't showered in 36 hours and just took a massive diarrhea shit without washing their hands anywhere near your food?

I only tip my barber.

I usually get take out at restaurants like a chad.

Get a better job you fuck. 15% is generous enough

how can one man be so based?

principals is a
underrated show btw

This. If you're staying at the bar all night and intend on drinking a lot tip the bartender well on the first drink

>you really want a dude who hasn't showered in 36 hours and just took a massive diarrhea shit without washing their hands anywhere near your food?
You just described most servers

>you really want a dude who hasn't showered in 36 hours and just took a massive diarrhea shit without washing their hands anywhere near your food?
No instead I’ll let some diseased roastie with a yeast infection and an abortion scheduled next week to serve me wine

How does the waiters service change based on the quality of the food? Is delivering a burger less effort to him than serving Wagyuu beef?

I'm pretty much the same

>The more you tip the bartender, the stronger she makes the drinks next time.
I and a huge group of friends used to go to a restaurant once a week.
we all ordered a meal and we all tipped 50%+. we could do (and often did) anything we wanted there.

>Get a better job you fuck.
If everyone got a better job then they'd be forced to pay waiters more to keep them on and the cost of eating out would rise anyway, retard.

People will straight up kill for you if you tip 30%+

>paying 15% more than the listed price to avoid looking rude
Americans are so cucked lol

Attached: f6d5b6e.jpg (4032x3024, 1.09M)

>I won't tip because society says I have to, I'll tip when I want to
He's pretty much based

>Not watching the waitress' face contort with rage while still striking a smile as she looks at your $0 tip
Pussy

>tipping 50% for the privilege of rollerskating or some stupid bullshit in a restaurant
wow, you really outsmarted the system

>this
My friends act like I'm a jerk when I give an average waiter 15%. I'll go above if they entertained me or did something particularly nice but they're not getting 20% unless they gave me a handjob under the table.

Tipping nothing is an asshole move unless the waiter sucks so bad they deserve to be fired (actually a waitress did get fired once from how she treated my table and we got free ice cream out of it).

Only poor people care about what others do with their money, it’s a cope

Well thank god that it's an endless pool of rotating staff so we don't run into that problem, genius. There will always be a supply of servers

>I am going to hold the strength of your drink and quality of your experience hostage unless you keep giving me money

Lmao how the fuck is that legal again

>>tipping 50% for the privilege of rollerskating or some stupid bullshit in a restaurant
We knew the waiter and we were having fun hanging out with friends and we could all afford it.

What's wrong with that?

Top kek

Fucking retarded boomer maths

if holding power over someone in a monetary form to make them dance for you gets your rocks off then be my guest

I mean, the sign's not wrong

Talk about faggot shit. Most waiters in $15 minimum cities were against the change, mainly because they could earned more than $15 per hour in combined tips and wages. Shifting to a flat wage lowered their income and resulted in waiting jobs being lost, because now the restaurant is paying for everything, raising the cost of labor for the retaurant.

Checkmate statist union faggots.

Obligatory restaurant kino incoming

>tip 50% for the first time
>tip 10% the next time you visit, to make them feel like they really fucked up
>they give you free appetizers and try to make your stay as great as possible.
>then tip 15%

and thats how you fuck with their heads

here in south america we only tip in high class restaurants, not run of the mill dinners lmao

that seems pretty close to Game Theory Optimal. good thinking

>if holding power over someone in a monetary form to make them dance for you gets your rocks off then be my guest
lmao fucking commie.

91 days x 30 min is 2 days not 23, thats where it goes off the rails

Tipping is for cucks

This guy gets it. Bottom line, don't be a bug-eyed faggot who doesn't tip wait staff. That shit is absurdly petty even for poor fags.

this sign is fucking stupid

>your server would literally rather be anywhere else in the world than doing this stupid, horrible job right now

Then go shovel shit at a zoo or fill potholes with hot tar, faggots.

then get a marketable skill? pushing buttons on a Point of Sale terminal and carrying food 10 yards is worth less than minimum wage

So glad I don't live somewhere with this retarded customer guilt system.

>30 minute coffee break
>hour lunch
are fucking kidding me? breaks are 15 and lunch is 30. anyone who needs more time is a retard.

yah i worked shitty min wage at fast food, easiest job i ever had, and ppl still act like asking for napkins is a todo

*craaaack*
*siiiip*
AAAAH... I remember the good old days, when 10% tip was the norm

Seriously though, when did the propaganda machine do the switch? It seems like it just turned into a 20% expected tip overnight

And don’t forget to tip your board janitor!

this was not meant in defense of tipping

t. waiter

Fuck you

>a day of work is 24 hours straight

My comment was. It's good to tip and that's the market at work. That's why we can have wait staff and restaurants that stay open longer than a month.

tipping is probably the most cucked, nonsensical practice of all time.

not to mention deducting full days instead of 8 hours each for holidays and such. stupid stupid math.

What's your problem with earning your wage son? Why don't you apply yourself and earn more?

Attached: 1521176109512.jpg (560x560, 203K)

Wrong from a professional standpoint. Last thing a professional thief should ever do is attract unnecessary attention to himself or his accomplices while on a job (They’re all dressed up having a meeting, ergo on the job).
The boss should have bitchslapped him for not acting like a pro. If he wants to be a cheapskate he needs to do that in his own time only.

Ironic considering that after this point onwards Mr Pink is the only one who acts like a pro.

Every tarantino movie is just him talking to himself and some violence thrown in

Triggered incelioids

The USA: home of the only restaurants in the entire world

Probably the most and certainly some of the best restaurants in the world. In the US they operate on razor thin margins and are in constant chaos, with shops closing up and new ones opening in the same location with stunning regularity for brick and mortar business. Fast food has eliminated most of the profit for actual eateries with wait staff.

are you from the midwest?

In theory yes but no, I was born in Los Angeles

midwesterners are even worse than southerners, at least the south has a culture

just curious, have you ever stepped foot outside of LA?

>He was right, not his problem the waitress doesn't get paid a decent salary.

This, I can’t engage in this feudalistic practice.

Pink was right but the problem is that Joe bought him breakfast and expected the others to pitch in. If Pink normally doesn't go to restaurants or bars where tipping is expected, he's not in the wrong.
But a real nigga of the #NoTipsCrew would be calling the manager/owner of restaurants and setting up big reservations before cancelling once they find out there's no gratuity, telling the boss that their greed just lost a big customer.

Yeah man I live in Arizona near the border which has the best version of Mexican food I've had on the continent. Lived in North Cali too.

No, that's why you get slightly cheaper meals and why restaurant owners tend to make more money off you while their workers get less compared to a non-tipping, higher wage paradigm.

oh, okay. my bad, you have plenty of perspective on how the rest of the entire world's restaurant industry operates

How come waiters are the only one who get tips?

The kitchen staff are doing the hard work

You sound upset about people making their own decisions.

Attached: 1529056272413.png (586x634, 276K)

you desert people are even better than midwesterners

That's my question since I was 4 years old.

I genuinely do not tip and I have about 7 figures in the bank. I only eat fast food when not at home.

>Bawww don't eat at nice restaurants if you don't wanna tip
Fine, I don't. Fuck you and fuck your jewish boss. Guys like me would actually give you my business if it weren't for this horseshit.

Thanks user that's really nice of you to say.

Attached: 1560148106968.gif (300x168, 285K)

so if you take 2 days off you've worked negative days? How does that work?

The waiters sometimes split tips with the backend, afaik.

Try harder.

>most restaurants in the world

go ahead and tell me about the economics how not tipping wont work. while you're at it tell me why hidden costs that everyone expects is a better alternative

How to tip:
Your bill = 105.47
Nah bruh
Final total = 100.00

Nope, the waiter denies themselves the opportunity by taking a minimum wage job

I never said not tipping won't work. I don't even know what that means. Work for what? Tipping is putting money in the pocket of a service worker. If you tip cash you make it possible for them to evade the owner taking a cut. I always tip and often in cash. Are you so miserly you won't part with some dollars to reward good service?

The problem with eliminating tips is it shifts the entire burden of the labor cost to the restaurant owner, who is already barely getting by unless they're upper crust or overcharging successfully, which raises the cost of wait staff labor which incentivizes firing waiters to bring costs back in-line before the mandate.

Of course he was right. I earn a damn good salary for doing my job, and I don't get tipped for it either, so why the fuck should I have to give even a small part of it away to subsidise the wage of a serving monkey who is incapable of finding a better paying job?

>Tipping is putting money in the pocket of a service worker.
Just pay them a normal wage. I dont see you tipping the guy bending rebar on the side of the highway.

Eliminate tipping and the price will show real value. Good. Maybe we'll have less fucking families bringing their 8-year-olds to a steak house and worthless niggers being themselves. The equilibrium point just slides a bit and the restaurant still takes in the same overall revenue.
Servers will still make a good wage that actually reflects their value as well.

>Servers will still make a good wage that actually reflects their value as well.
god forbid they're evaluated on their value added and not paid on guilt and societal pressure

The guy bending rebar is unionized, or apprenticed; in my state you can apprentice with union guys and not even join the union. Journeymen doing manual labor typically earn $17 an hour, well above the minimum and comfortably middle class with 40 hour work weeks. Difficult work though; retire early.

What do you expect, it's aimed at mutts.

You're supposed to tip the takeout people. They aren't as pushy about it as servers but they get mad when you don't
t. married to a girl who does takeout part-time who rants to me about it

I was in the airport in Atlanta, and I ate at one of the food places, when we got the bill, the waitress circled the 20% gratuity charge on the receipt, so I paid the flat amount for the food and didn’t tip. Did I do right or am I an arse? I’d have tipped her 10% if she hadn’t circled the 20% gratuity on the paper.

>Tipping is putting money in the pocket of a service worker. If you tip cash you make it possible for them to evade the owner taking a cut. I always tip and often in cash.
This is why anyone that worked in the service industry needs their social security benefits docked

You did the right thing. Fuck uppity servers.

I tip my bartenders alright, but it all evens out based on the amount of free drinks I get. If I am unable to do math, then I know I got overserved and need to hang out a bit.
>i had 11 beers
>I think
>let's say 11

That's when I ask if anyone wants anything to eat while I go get something. It's nice to get hammered at bars you used to work at.

No one retiring after 2040 is not going to get any benefits dumbass. The entire institution is insolvent.

Alright I used a double negative. What I meant was anyone.

yeah no shit its going to be gone if a bunch of people that evaded taxes try to collect

I'm a pizza driver so I'm all for good tips but this bitch is insane expecting a 20% tip. I'm fine with 10 and that what I tip because I'm a poorfag. Waitress can fuck right off because they have the easiest job in any restaurant, they don't do dishes or clean or do prep, the worst they have to do is make the cook redo something and deal with a grouchy boomer for a few minutes. Meanwhile, I have to not only keep the store clean, do prep and wash dishes, but also stink up my personal car with pizza smell (which is as hard to get out as cigarette smoke), go to the hood and get stiffed and possibly robbed, plus if the kitches fucks something up and I don't catch it before I leave then I get yelled at for what some other retard did. Death to waitress THOTs, they are completely useless.

Attached: 1559876923811.jpg (750x621, 386K)

Because of tips servers and bartenders actually make a pretty decent living for a relatively unskilled, entry level job. That's why no server wants to go to a """"living wage"""" because they'll make significantly less money.
Best serving job I ever had was being a bartender in a big sports stadium. You could make rent in one night with tips.

100% right.

If you want a normal salary you write it into legislation instead of playing stupid games with paying customers. If i ever in up in the US, ill tell whoevers in charge to include the tip in the bill and if they cant, they're getting random spare change.
Im not sitting there like some shmuck counting the extra %.
