Itt: Historical TV thread

I'm on episode 34 of Three Kingdoms and I can't remember any character more based and redpilled than Cao Cao

>"The greatest traitor has always resembled an honest man, and the greatest falsehood comes across as truth. Righteousness and evil cannot be discerned by their appearances. Cao Cao is quite based in this adaptation and Liu Bei is a particularly huge faggot. "muh honor" in China is another level of sheer autism. It only gets even better. Wait until Liu Bei makes his son retarded. You'll know what scene I'm talking about.

Have a webm, OP.

Attached: Crafty Villain.webm (720x400, 2.91M)

I know it's a cultural thing but Liu Bei just seems like a fucking autistic retard who is no less evil than any other leader

Sit the fuck down cao cao.

t. Loo Gay

t. Big-hearted villain

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 54K)

he is delusional.

He's a lying hypocrite

This was an underlying subtext of the book. Despite all the superficial claiming of muh honor and benevolence, in the end, Liu Bei was just using the lives of ordinary people and destroying the peace and unity of China for his own selfish ends.
At least that's how I learned it in Taiwan. Maybe my literature teacher was based.

Show didn't exploit and depict this well, what a waste.

Really? I thought it was pretty clear cut
Liu Bei was a fucking asshole by the end, his only heir was useless and a lot of good people got killed as a result of his idiotic principles

>that part where Zhuge Liang made a guy spew blood and die with bantz alone
youtube.com/watch?v=A7JpXRNP3hk

>"chaos is a ladder"
t. caocao

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wtf spoilers maybe/???

I loved how
>I would rather betray the world than have the world betray me
made every chink in chinkland completely shit their pants

Cao Cao is OG nihilist

He was, and it was clear, all I know about all this story is from the show. What I mean is that it could have been done better, too much retarded drama around him, and his brothers where stupid caricatures. Liu Bei and everything surrounding him (except for Zhuge Liang who bas based, but got all shitty in the end with the non-stop crying) was the worst part of the show, but it didn't have to be like that.

> based on a novel
> which is itself based in history
> ...spoilers

It is like spoiling Rome

I made it a point not to read any history about the 3 Kingdoms period when I was watching the series and I'm pretty happy about it because who actually founded the next imperial dynasty was a god tier twist

more so because of how it unfolds, and how unexpected it is being that the show doesn't use much surprise or twists during the whole plot

Also he's a faggot who never even played Dynasty warriors

Being Chen Gong is pure suffering. Damn.

Sounds like social score is going down to 0 if China finds out about your heresy.

Deadwood has been great so far in both adapting the historical characters and the feel of the setting.

HAO

Is this show actually good? Was thinking of trying it out

Yes.

"Rome" is just an inferior prequel to "I, Claudius" anyway.

Where do I download/watch this?

Is it good all the way through? 95 episodes seems like quite a time investment.

The nihilists would consider his talk of honor "spooked."

Only based Anons have watched the old ROTK anime

It's good in streaks. A few episodes and sections slow way down but that's how history is. It's great overall if you find the story interesting.

PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOO

Attached: 1560209479908.png (720x400, 175K)

Yep, I came to the exact same conclusion in the book. Liu Bei was an opportunist just like every warlord in the era and for a supposed man of honor he betrayed every single one of his benefactors. He also didn't hesitate to discard and/or kill those who did not benefit him.

Fuck the Wusses

It's a shame that he was so good at losing and so bad at dying, otherwise Cao Cao could have taken everything in like 20-30 years.

>China used to be a pioneer of Philosophy, Economy, and Warfare in ancient times
>Now turned into soulless husk of their former self
What the fuck happened?

It's still a pioneer in 5G. Also they're one of our last hopes at stopping the globohomo agenda.

Immigrants
>In order to alleviate the shortages of labor caused by the Three Kingdoms wars, the Jin allowed millions of non-Chinese, Yi people to reside in Jin territory. Many officials opposed this decision in the name of the Hua–Yi distinction, claiming that if the barbarians did not identify with the Huaxia, they would conspire to destroy the empire.
Chinese thought they could import third worlders and teach them to be Chinese.

>tfw no titty monster concubine

It’s on YouTube.

China's been utterly defeated time after time by forces with deficits over 10:1 when compared to theirs. Their military history beggars belief.
>Emperor's brother goes to negotiate a truce
>horse niggers take him hostage
>have to ransom him
>have a giant party
>have tons of parties
>horse niggers come back
>this time with some pet chinamen of their own
>breech city
>kill the emperor
>kill most of his family
>take his wives as sex slaves
>massacre the civilian population in general
>salt the fields
>all after the chinese emperor was partying after having to literally ransom back his brother
Reading their history feels like taking crazy pills.

>"The greatest traitor has always resembled an honest man, and the greatest falsehood comes across as truth. Righteousness and evil cannot be discerned by their appearances. Perhaps in the past you decided wrongly about me, and perhaps today you misjudged me too. However, I remain myself. I have never cared about others misjudging me."
typical of the national villain Cao Cao

I'm around episode 70, is there an episode missing? Playlist has 94 episodes but the list for the show has 95.
Things get pretty hard to watch from here don't they?

>Playlist has 94 episodes but the list for the show has 95
I'm not sure. I think there's another upload, I'll check that when I get back home

Attached: 1558696915256.gif (480x270, 2.16M)

the playlist doesn't have episode 6 or 7 if I remember well

Thought I was in /twg/

Yeah episode 6 gets blocked for copyright but it's still on the list so I'm wondering if a different one is missing completely. I found 6 on daily motion though.

Actually, I very much liked how it was done. It's not clear cut on whether Liu Bei is an ambitious warlord that just uses the Han as a pretext to gain power or truly a selfless Han scion that wants to save the dynasty via his noble and just attitude. The dialogue that indicates the former is always very subtle, very nuanced. It's way better than just spelling it out for the audience.

the 1994 series looks pretty dope

Attached: lol.jpg (966x672, 90K)

>watch the show for the 1st time years ago
>think Liu Bei and his brothers were pretty based

1994 version is pretty vanilla, pure right out of the Romance novel

I think you mean "borrowing."

I guess it flies under the censorship because its a foreign production.
Usually tits get censored quite heavily.

anyone watch anything besides Three Kingdoms?

I watched Empress of China in full.

Your teacher was a Maoist. It wasn't until Mao that Cao Cao was given respect as a philosopher king and Liu Bei an upstart.
In the end it's all bias bug shit, but Cao Cao in this show is based.

CAO AHMAN

The Qing dynasty fucked up the Han chinese badly and made them into servile bugmen. The Communists finished the job by eliminating all vestiges of civilization and replaced it with Qing style tyranny coupled with forced collectivisation, making them into the soulless insects we see today.

They'll get there again soon.

tfw I am literally Cao Cao, finally someone that understands my philosophy, might start watching this, thanks guys.

That's a YT rip, right?

not sure just started downloading myself but considering a few episodes are jewstruck on yt its the best i could find

any historical Yea Forums that isn't full of overt sexual stuff or violence and is actually ACCURATE?

>accurate

only stuff that would qualify would be documentaries/docudramas, best I'd say would be David Starkey's Monarchy/PBS Empires stuff, especially Napoleon

>Liu Bei """"barrows"""" Jing Province and the Riverlands
>still loses the war
How can anyone like these jobbers

Attached: 1554299156804.jpg (232x217, 9K)

ok what about stuff that is less accurate, will also settle for period piece kino

Attached: LiuBei.gif (240x172, 158K)

Sima yi is so based

>a few episodes are jewstruck on yt
How the fuck is this even possible? I don't get how can someone even claim copyrights on that? I'd understand if it was one of the shows/movies Netflix bought the rights for

and yeah, it's the same thing as on YT

I Claudius if you like the roman period, Rome if you somehow haven't watched it(also quite accurate for a tv show). Hornblower series if you like napoleonic navy era stuff, Sharpe is similar but focused on land, idk theres a lot of decent historical Yea Forums series/miniseries

"From the Earth to the Moon", if you're able to enjoy historical fiction about the moon landing hoax, is pretty kino.

For me, it’s MtG Cao Cao

WANG YUN? GODS WHAT A STUPID NAME

>Cao Cao
What the fuck is wrong with the chinese names, it sounds like some asian pop idol. Why didn't they have manly names like Genghis or Ivan Vasylyevich Rurikovich?

Cao Cao is a kino name, wtf

Did you just talk shit about mah boi Kongming

>Implying Kong Rong isn't a based name

like said, it is good in streaks, some parts are shitty, some are great

It is a lot of episodes, but episodes are short (40 minutes)

>gets BTFO by a sick man
Heh.

I like the subtle part, I'm not saying I wanted an in-your-face depiction, that part was OK. What I don't like is the caricatures and over-abuse of the "I'm such a good guy" dramatization, made me cringe.

>sick

lol. The Marquis of Wu has to resort to murdering his own generals because he's too much of a beta to execute them when they disobey him

Holy shit I am on full onions mode right now. Is this a kino? Is it historically accurate?

Reminder that Lu Meng started out as a poor illiterate nobody and eventually became one of Wu's top generals/commanders.
Reminder that Lu Meng seized almost all of Jing province without spilling a single drop of blood.
Reminder that Guan Yu treated his subordinates like crap and that's why they handed over his territories to Wu
Reminder that Guan Yu and his """oath brothers""" were basically mercenaries who raped and plundered wherever they went
Reminder that the three of them often slept in the same bed
Reminder that Guan Yu couldn't even govern his lands properly and much of Jing province was starving because he couldn't or wouldn't even distribute food from the supply depots

What is the name of this incident?

>Is this a kino?
Yes
>Is it historically accurate?
Not really, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms its based on is not particularly accurate, it's considered more of a fictional saga than a true account of the period. I think it's more or less pretty faithful to the source material though

Meant for
