Isn't the new movie supossedly trying to adapt it?
What are some good dnd movies?
That's not saying much. The first movie was cringe and the second one was a snoozefest.
I was just thinking of this. Cavalier OP.
The Brazilian car ad
That's the closest we get to a finale.
I rented the live action DnD movie like twice as a kid. It was pretty bad, but it had a funny scene were a dwarf kicks somebodies legs under them which was hilarious and me and my friends used to laugh about it.
there were others?
The movies.
>implying
>literally Legolas and Gimli
>Funny how all the good things in the world are dwarven. "Behold this dwarven-forged shield. Marvel at these dwarven pastries."
The elvish-dwarf bants are why I keep coming back to trashy pulp fantasy.
It was too good for it's own good. Maybe it would have better luck if it wasn't on IDW.
Is that a black female adventurer? FUCKING PASS
not even fucking close
also my main
The black is portrayed as a backstabbing thief so it's alright
Is this worth the read?
It's decent. Short though.
They should just extend the rensult advert it was brilliant also
DRAGONLANCE IS BETTER
> tiefling
Blocks your comic
none
Why hasn't anyone tried to adapt DnD recently?
The copyright is a fucking nightmare, that's why.
Most memorable maybe. It has about as much to do with DnD as the Rambo cartoon had to do with Rambo
There aren't any
It's not just Hasbro these days?
yes but say Drizzt belongs to RA salvatore, baldurs gate to wizards of the coast, also theirs this whole dispute about using neverwinter which is why so many stories are set in waterdeep, everyones allowed to use waterdeep but not necessarily allowed to use kelben blackstaff
The Dragons Graveyard episode was kino but they pussied out by not killing the bad guy once they won.
I remember this bit when the old wizard goes to fight an evil necro or something, the badguy shoots lightning at him, the old wizard catches it swirls it around and throws it back, george lucas completely ripped off that scene
Wizards is owned by Hasbro though. I don't know what the Drizzt stories in particular created themselves outside of the handful of characters they feature as I've never read them, but I can't imagine it's hard to work around that for an entire world (or god forbid just use Greyhawk or something instead of Forgotten Realms)
Kino music
I miss playing 2e with my boys
is it available online?
The best DnD movie is the live action with Jeremy Irons. It is so good, every scene with Irons in it he steals the show.
But RA has the rights to forgotten realms, its a complete mess
all comics for everything is available online every single one ever
why are you lying RA is a writer who writes stories in FR. Ed Greenwood created FR for his homebrew wrote about it in dragon magazine TSR bought it off of him to have it be main setting for 2e AD&D TSR was bought by Wizards which is owned by Hasbro. How is this a mess?
>Not so talented now eh Mr Ridley?
fucking kino
That movie does at least capture the essence of being stuck in a shitty campaign, down to the characters randomly swapping out and the dwarf player that refuses to do anything ever. I'm pretty sure that was on accident though.
I'm not I've just been reading about it, even though tsr sold to hasbro RA also retained the rights so it has to go through both hasbro and RA himself before almost anything in forgotten realms can be made, look it up and try to find sources more indepth then wikipedia
post the source than.
Also RA is not the creator has only created shit characters how does this translate to owning the realms?
if you can't find a comic in one search attempt you should seek medical attention
I think he was in charge of the setting in some sort of creative control sense for a while at the very least, but I don't see how he could possibly have the rights to more than a handful of characters and locations from writing some books
>Autism: The Game
I will never unsderstand how this shit is still popular.
Storytelling is one of the oldest pastimes since pre-history, but clearly you're just too cool to understand why anyone might enjoy making a game out of it.
>look it up yourself
>post source
no, look it up its all peice meal their isn't one article that conviently condenses it all into one, for instance one part of the dispute is between Allspark Pictures, Sweetpea Entertainment (a division of hasbro) and Warner Bros for who owns the rights to make a d&d movie, this has recently been resolved with all 3 studios agreeing to make the new film in partnership, thats not even touching on the novels/individual characters and locations, hell for years their was a dispute over who owned the rights to the vorpal sword
Then why are you in this thread?
correct its not exactly from just his novels, its because he was kinda like a feige type controlling all the official novels and the direction they took
Funny when I goggle it. RA Salvatore website comes up saying Wizards and Hasbro owns FR. You are just a nigger. Thanks for trying
thats because your lazy, but w/e I'm not really intersted in convincing you, you want to know why so few d&d stuff gets released? thats why believe me or don't or even better try looking it up for yourself and go past the first 3 search results
I was actually hyped for this pre-release, but it ended up being essentially unwatchable. Not sure why they would budget so much money for voice acting (e.g., Kiefer) when the animation is kindergarten-tier.
I know you aren't trying to convince because you post no source no information. But you're better than me arguing on a honeypot
its awful, but for some reason kiefer is raist, but the animation is worse then any sat morning cartoon ever, yea this was so disappointing
ok
can confirm
>I'm old
I love it when a zoomer tells me about shit I lived through. So nice
>thats because your lazy, but w/e
It's rare to see something so loaded with irony
go to bed kid, i'm older and wiser then you, also have higher int, just let it go
you lived through a dispute that started 10 years ago? congrats kiddo
Agreed. I still remember the dissapointment of thinking the live action adaptation was going to be the adaptation of this show. Instead i got the Jimmy Olsen movie. To this day i still don´t understand who thought that guy had any potential to play the lead on a movie.
No TSR failing and being bought out but thanks for trying
Such a shame since it's source material that could actually be made into something fucking amazing. Dragonlace wih LOTR budget but all the heart that was mostly missing. It truly does have amazing and unique characters with surprising depth.
Although I feel like a well done series would work as well. Three seasons for Chronicles and three for Legends then end it because everything that came after was pulp poop.
What about the pinball adaptation?
Dragonlance is shit though. Literally retarded dwarves and childlike thieving little shit halflings are better off forgotten
>Dragonlace wih LOTR budget
Would be wasted because fuck Kender.
this, fuck kender shits
Depends how they do it. Yeah, huge potential to be done wrong, but f they focus heavily on how attached he is to Flint and do the Fizban thing it could work well. If they focus on the "oh so cute how they steal and sing and annoy you" then yeah.
they would have to completely overhaul the dialogue as well, its pretty bad, even raist gets cringy
Yes, the actual writing of Dragonlance was pretty amateur. The strength is the characters and their motives and how they are more than just fantasy cardboard cutouts. Fix the dialog by all means but keep the underlying story. Classic case of good story with meh writing. Some of the best kino is often like this; a good story not executed to its full potential in the source material.
action wise they could follow the plot more or less and it would be fine, their is even a perfect mid book break for 2 parts, fix the dialogue and the rest can pretty much happen how it happens imo
>best adaptation of D&D
This.
Most DnD games are more like Konosuba in my experience. Goblin Slayer is just Tucker's Kobolds faggotry only taken even further
why is modern fantasy art so soulless
I used to play for the factotum/warlock so it was similar to the Goblin slayer playing style.
Mediocre art.
Okay, why did they have to give the pig those sexy eyelashes? Imagine being a farm boy, trying to do the right thing, but without a female soul around for miles. And then you see this strutting around in the yard.
Factorum always sounded like a fun class, but everything you could do to make it actually good feels like it pushes my cheese limit
Star Wars: Episode X
oh shit I thought those characters looked familiar! I read a porno comic of this
The Mummy with Brendan Frasier is a D&D campaign.
This is bullshit, Dwarves sing about digging and smithing and drinking and chopping down elves and men at the knees.
post it
they can also bantz, that was bantz
It may not have the license but this is the best D&D adaptation.
I was just watching some video on youtube the other day where a guy complained how modern fantasy novels have covers made in photoshop while classic pulpy stuff like Conan or Elric used to have hand-painted covers. Literally soul vs soulless.
Alright.
Because it offers something for everyone, especially the autistic. People who like to hang out with friends, pretend or do fantasy stuff, lorefags, people obsessed with minute details, people who like to argue, and of course the autistic who love ridiculously specific things.
don't worry man, you're clearly right and that other faggot is clearly just trying to get a rise out of you
The redhead was the thief. The black character was an acrobat. She was overconfident and had trouble controlling her temper sometimes, but she wasn't cowardly or backstabbing.
That other guy was talking about Fell's Five, the comic, not the D&D cartoon. The halfling was darker skinned than the other characters and was also a backstabbing thief.
based
thanks
For me it's Mazes and Monsters.
The 2nd live action one was alright, desu
I know im late but the anime of this is the equivalent of the live action dnd movie.
The LN is the only way to go.
7
me on the left
How is the ln? Same ole repeat see goblin slay goblin or more of a back story for the mc?
Modern day dnd is retarded and boring due to shit like critical role and every other gay podcast willing to bank on the novel concept “improv with dice”
A movie would involve Matt Mercer jerking off on the camera and humbly requesting a sub to “d&d beyond”
Me and my brother used to watch the scene in home alone where the kid puts the spider on the guys face
> we thought it was the funniest shit ever
Here is your rpg, bro
The perfect murderhobo system
