caddyshack is peak 80s comedy, and one of the best ever. there will never be another movie like it. on the surface, it's such a fucking mess because it's got so many storylines crammed in it, but it gives the entire place depth and color, brings it alive. scenes are packed with so much going on. you feel like danny on summer vacation. god it's so fucking good.
real talk though, bill murray is the worst part of the movie. i can't quite pin it, him acting like an unironic retard is just so out-of-place with the rest of the movie's tone.

Caddyshack literally seems like there was no script, it's almost abstract, but it moves so fast with such cokey good spirited energy that it gives the illusion of a plot. The editing saved it. But everyone involved was scared it was a huge mess. That's why the gopher was added way after it was done. Which drove the National Lampoon writer to near suicide. It's in that National Lampoon Netflix movie.
