I like the movie for the goat. It was hilarious, like when the kids were chasing him and he was dancing around while he was running, then after he killed the dad and did a dance too, then dipped out so the mom wouldn’t see him. Lmao love that goat. But yeah it would have been better if more grownups were involved and witch stuff was in it more. Still a pretty good movie.

Just because we had a glut of terrible horror movies in the late 90s and 2000s doesn't suddenly make a slower paced, or character focused, or whatever you think is so unique, horror movie outstanding. There were plenty of them before the 80s, ffs Silence of the Lambs and The Exorcist won oscars, and The Witch wasn't remotely the first one to attempt to bring this type of horror back. Ti West's House of the Devil and the Innkeepers are far better but they didn't have le epic meme material like live deliciously XD and black phillip XDD, nor did they have the pretense of being something more than a horror movie. The Witch is a poor drama and a poor horror movie.

Not even a jumpscare and like you said, it's five minutes in. I do think it was a poor choice to actually show there was a witch at all though, but you have to at least attempt to pander to normies if you want your film to get funded.
