Why wasn't Ash the protagonist of the Pokémon Movie instead?
Why wasn't Ash the protagonist of the Pokémon Movie instead?
That's not Ash, that's Red.
better question: why did they try to make a pokemon movie that was neither for fans or non-fans
He was the protagonist of the Pokemon movie, this was Pokemon: Detective Pikachu. The Pokemon movie came out in like 1999
Because then pol wouldn't have had that thing to cry about for a week.
This, have sex, incels.
Because Ash isn't a real character but a marketing tool, TPC knows that they can't get away with black-washing Ash since he isn't a literal who like Tim. That, and they wanted to do a different story, the fate of a PCU depends on how well does Detective Pikachu two.
P.S: stop making the same fucking thread every day.
This Red is a literal who compared to Origins and game Red,
Obvious samefag is obvious.
Am I insane or what the fuck was up with everyone liking how the pokemon looked in that movie? That all looked fucking awful.
Because Sam Raimi owns the rights to Ash as a character, not Nintendo.
>using "literal who" twice in one post
Not an argument, idiot. If that's all you've got, you're 10,000 years too young to have a respectable opinion on the greater Pokémon media world.
Mewtwo looked like a clay cgi
>Because Ash isn't a real character but a marketing tool
What?
That's not Gary. That's Blue.
If it weren't a black man, would this movie not flop?
why does he throw the pokeball so agressively as if its a baseball and he's trying to hit the other person with it?
because USA is black and they love blacks and gays
It's a bold tactical subversion.
I think they considered that the whole capturing pokemon in balls and forcing them to battle each other thing was too problematic
plus the whole ambition to be the very best and defeat everyone thing that ash has.
You get this from the start.
Capturing a pokemon isn't done normally, by beating it into submission and then slavery. It's turned into some kind of trust thing.
The main pikachu can't/doesn't fight anyone until the very end
Pokemon are shown on an even footing with humans and there are no pokeballs really.
The disappointing thing is that they're right. These are all valid ethical questions. They could have explored them in the films, rather than avoiding them.
The games do that with the villains in Black who want to free all pokemon and have a morally justifiable position and a sympathetic villain, until it turns out the head guy really just wants to rule the world.
/pol/ can easily cry about Jews and blacks daily, there's enough new material out there.
Because Ash was too busy fucking his bitches and snorting coke.
Detective Flop
Because the Japanese would wonder who Ash is when his name is Saitochi.
They would probably be right but personally I wouldn't get it. Pokemon fights are just sport, like boxing or wrestling, no Pokemon ever suffered or died from these (except when they're battling a villain, in which case the characters promptly react to this in a negative way).
People eating meat in this universe would be a more sensible thing to tackle on.
1. its not either of them.
2. the movie is in the anime universe.
Why did they finally make a pokemon money and instead of having it normal go with a retarded gimmick man talking pikachu? tainted the whole moive
Because Ash is a fucking shit trainer
yeah but to capture a wild pokemon you basically beat the shit out of it and drug it until it's too weak to resist enslavement
and then you force it to do your bidding
and the whole 'fainting' instead of dying, and 'take it to the hospital to be 100% fine again' thing is just nonsense lol
You don't force it to do anything. If they wanted to, Pokemon could refuse all your commands in battle. That's what happens with traded pokemon. The fact they do listen mean they trust you.
they are your property though
and they're also supposed to be human level intelligent and sentient
also the consequences of them not listening to you is you keep them in their tiny technological cage in a computer for ever and never allow them to breathe air or look at the sky or hear birdsong again
its perfectly reasonable when you consider what living in a world full of psychic firebreathing dragons would actually be like
sure but it's just not kiddy level hollywood america
>we're the good guys!
morality
based Bruce poster
This was addressed with Charizard, Ash realizes he just doesn't likes him and just wants to fly free. You can call human relations with Pokemon simple but it's what it is, this is just a wholesome universe with no hatred whatsoever.
The series doesn't explore this theme because it goes against what the games stand for. What are they supposed to do? Say "yes, you are an evil person for being a Pokemon trainer"? There are already plenty of justifications in the lore to justify Pokemon battles. How about you read up on that instead?
Based!
>Ash realizes he just doesn't likes him and just wants to fly free.
i don't think this was the actual way that went.
for me it wasnt the worst thing. the worst thing was the bulbasaurs didnt even say their names, they just chirped.
The Pokemon in the games use animal cries, not their names. That's more faithful than stupid anime trash.
What drives a man to make this comment. Of course its based, are you trying to say boobs arent based?
Because Satoshi is japanese.
yeah but half the other pokemon said their names. psyduck? jigglypuff? i could go on
How was it I don't remember that much.
Didn't Ash leave him with some chick, so he could train and fly with the chick's Charizard?
The one anime franchise where yes, the character actually is clearly japanese.
something like that, but charizard was basically an example of a traded pokemon that grew fast and didn't obey orders because of the trainers lack of experience. by the time he was traded he didnt hate ash. In fact he had some memory sequence that showed he remembered ash saved him etc.
Ah I see.
i don't care how they justify it all
it's all extremely convenient
easy. because Nintendo don't want to screw up their main franchise. detective Pikachu is just a spin-off that nobody cares, they don't care if Hollywood ruined it
Wait, isn't Yea Forums hates ash or is it just /vp/
Pokemon doesn't work as a feature-length film. You can't shove 8 gym battles and fighting evil teams into a movie without heavily fucking with the pacing.
A Pokemon movie about battling would suck absolute cock
He not black
>Erika isn't snoozing in a fancy robe
gay
well that's what happens when you bolt narrative onto a collectibles game
couldn't get ash, had to settle for coal.
