If you look closely you can see that the monkey shits on him

don't bother, it's shit

cute girl. should i watch this movie just for her?

No, but so what if he was? Stop being a faggot and calling people homosexuals.

where did they even get the monkeys? were they just wandering around the set or did they bring the monkeys with them? If its the latter, did they even bother recovering them after they jumped into the river?

it was a different time

>The monkeys that appear at the end of the film were somewhat difficult to acquire. According to Werner Herzog's commentary, he paid the men who were to provide them only half of what they asked for, as he didn't trust them and thought they would try to run off with the money without providing the monkeys. He was proved right, as they had sold the monkeys to someone else and they were to be flown to Florida. In desperation, Herzog pretended he was the veterinarian and that the monkeys didn't have their vaccination documents, which allowed him to finally get the monkeys and film their scenes. After this, all the monkeys were set free into the wild.

goddamn herzog is based af

>herzog did not trust brown people
based?

What's not to get its simple apocalypse now

He wanted to fuck his daughter like any normal adult male.

niggers

Why is this such a revered classic? It's considered one of the greatest movies of all time but its statements are so bland, and the camerawork and editing werent all that interesting to me either, what am I missing?

He just had a really bad week

i like it because it's a film about conquest period south america, which you don't see often in film. and the expeditionclimbing down the andes is one of the best nature scenes in film, up there with Lawrence of Arabia. but the acting and dialogue is a little stiff.

Dont make a kingdom in a jungie

>At last, after all this time I have finally become Aguirre, the Wrath of God
Seriously, Werner?

Have you seen his daughter? He beat the puss up, you wouldn't even believe.

Nature and the jungle are the wrath of god. Men falsley believe they are gods and get picked off one by one and sent insane by nature. Agguire on the boat with the monkeys at the end was a great metaphor for this. They're just a load of monkeys on a boat trying to tame the untamable.

Also he wanted to fuck his hot daughter.

How do you not get it?

>goddamn Herzog is based af
my favorite bit of trivia is how many times he (allegedly) tried to murder Kinski
>Also he wanted to fuck his hot daughter.
he was the greatest method actor

>Aguirre
>white
DROPPED

>tried to murder Kinski
zero times he even said it himself

>what am I missing?
You're missing the entire natural element of the film. The whole thing feels incredibly organic, like they were actually filming this as it happened. Not only that, it feels like none of it was planned, like each step forward by these people is actually being planned out as they went along, which is pretty much how Herzog did it I think.
To me it feels very child-like, like the people involved have no idea what they're doing, which isn't far off from reality. The whole using the river as something to conquer makes for a good framework as well.

>imagine being left behind to hang and die in a savage jungle like Ursua was
that part freaks me the fuck out

>allegedly
just the fact the story about Herzog sneeking into Kinski's house exists is funny enough to me

i like the opening sequence of this movie

Is that cat alright?

looks bit hungry but I think she's fine

the folly of man

It was made a really fucking long ago, if you showed any of the critics from back then a sub-par movie from today they'd be amazed at the directing skills and impressed or disgusted by the speed at which everything in the movie happens.

Fuck Spain

looks like long aguirre threads are getting fashionable...

>incest

Its a descent into madness as man sees himself king of the new world.

>Basques
>white

it was either this or Fitzcarraldo where the natives on the set propositioned to murder Klaus Kinski for him and make it look like an accident.

>sees himself
he WAS the emperor of the new continent
