K is in every way a better more fleshed out protagonist and character in general.

There's a reason why everyone talks only about Roy Batty.

Ford is the better gritty noir detective. But Gosling the better autistic replicant.

There is barely any character development with Deckard for 90% of the film, while with K literally the entire film is his character development.

That's because the narration was removed.

Deckard just reminds me how good BR could have been when I compare it to the book. The movies I hate the most are the ones you can tell could have been so fucking good, but they are not. They're worse than movies that could never have been good.

Which was intended. Deckards payoff comes at the hands of Batty at the end of the movie. Before that hes a blank paper, a trained killer.

K on the other hand is a relatable character throughout the movie but the ending payoff is less impactfull than Deckard's.
