Are there any Japanese filmmakers similar to him that made films during the same time?

Based. What's the best Wong Kar-Wai kino? For me it's In the Mood for Love.

Want a pineapple?

What the fuck was his issue?

ChungKing Express had loads of deleted scenes

youtu.be/xv-wkseAxvY

What was so good about the movie though? I couldn't finish it since it seemed like it had no story at all

This explains a fuck load of that shit film

Crazy waifu

I love wkw!!

nobody really cares about WKW, everyone just likes the cinematographer and Tony Leung

How good are any his movies without Christopher Doyle?

Takashi Ishii has a similar vibe albeit sleazier
Check out
Gonin, Black Angel Vol. 1 and Alone In The Night

I am a visually illiterate pleb so what do I know but this movie felt almost like WKW movie to me with how it focused on a small story between a few people and had this (for me cozy) retro asia look.

Gonin's great.
Kitano as a director, writer, and actor is great

Sounds good. Bring on the Wong Kar-Waifus I say.

Lol you don't watch kar-wai for story

Blueberry nights is bad but still quite interesting
Grandmaster is good but lots of ppl don't like it because they only saw the american cut not the original cut which is much better imo

Who's the most relevant HK actress Wong can bring in?

Also call me a filthy weeb but asian movies from the 80-90s look so damn cozy to me even if the subject matter is depressing.

As well as that black and white film where he thinks a lot about Jesus Christ.

Doyle was the real deal.

It's the aesthetic for me

What do you watch him for?

the feel

Yeah, I love that one too. Very beautiful film.

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'
ON SUCH A WINTER DAYYY

>>“Blossoms” has been in development for the last several years
Nice, it looks like we'll get another passion project unlike his last film which was a failed expirement in making a blockbuster. We haven't had proper Wong kino since 2046

Holy fuck, these morons wanted more exposition and quips like their favorite capeshit products. I'm glad that Chungking Express had limited dialogue or else it would've been hamhanded, like Hollywood movies are.
>actually wanting to see Bridget Lin's character become a drug kingpin
these morons watched too much Scarface.

2046 was a incoherent mess tho

Who needs coherence when you got nice images.

Wong Kar-Wai summarized. No substance but epin stills you can post on the webterrain. Nothing but In the Mood for Love matters.

They aren't easy and I'm an English sub title reader.

Can't wait. He has an Amazon TV show coming out too. I thought it'd be cancelled by now but apparently not.

What should we call ourselves as Wong connoisseurs

I don't that will happen, his shooting is too unconventional for TV. He would be shooting it for 5 years and editing for 10.

Oh it got cancelled actually. He is doing another tv show though screendaily.com/news/filmart-huanxi-releases-details-on-wong-kar-wai-web-series-paradise-guesthouse/5137774.article

Wong Dongers

BASED

It wasn't, you just need to keep up with reality vs. narrative.

I remember reading that it got cancelled but i couldn't find an article. I just hope Blossoms is released within the next 5 years.

I'm giving a rewatch once the 4080p versions get released, I was really confused the first time I couldn't get what was going on

Better rewatch In the Mood.
Though you aren't supposed to figure it out, that's the 'POINT' the film makes.

Why the dude dismisses the lady in the end of 2046 escapes me though

Coz Tony is a faggot

Rude desu

It's true tho

Bump

He will shoot it for 3 years, edit it for 5 years and release it 2028.

>substance
not enough hamhanded leftist critiques of capitalism and white patriarchy?

How does one come to be like you 2 cretins?

When leftists talk about "substance" they mean like Spike Lee movies.

How the fuck do you suppose he's a leftist? Are you a paranoid loon that thinks everyone that doesn't share his taste is the enemy?

>chinks

Yikes. I'll pass, thanks.

And that's a good thing

Nice

...

Can any of you good fellas point me towards either a stream, a direct download or a torrent of this film with English sub (preferably a Blu-ray rip)

Welcome to the Great Culture Wars of 2019. Everything is political.
