A movie
Kino.
The most overated anime series ever
The best anime series ever.
Anime. You talk about that on Yea Forums, not on Yea Forums.
My bad, I only wanted to discuss the follow-up film, does Yea Forums still talk about it?
They’ll just start sperging/debating about who the /bestgirl/ is.
Is this not a movie? why can't we discuss on Yea Forums?
That's a shame, there's some interesting themes in the film/series that I want to learn more about
A masterpiece.
What do you wanna talk about user?
All the religious symbolism was just there for the aesthetics.
>be a collective whole, the end of loneliness, but the trade off is having no identity
>take your chances of being miserable but at least you’re not just some amalgamated blob with no persona
That’s the real takeaway. Everything else was just kind of filler. Devilman Crybaby is similar but is done a little better.
Exactly, basically Plato's philosophy.
From a directorial stance, one of the greatest pieces of art ever made. The shot composition is Kubrick-tier.
From any other point of view, it's pseudo-arthouse garbage that proves to you that you only need good soundtrack and compelling visuals to make a salient, emotional film.
Fuck Anno for making everything so ambiguous.
>What did I just watch?
You witnessed what weeaboos actually believe.
if it's just there for aesthetics its imagery, not symbolism. I hope you've learned something
pure kino
just to get it out of the way: Asuka best girl
based
the brainlet ending
One of the best anime. I burst into tears when watch opening
OP here, I watched up to episode 24 and (just now) the film, are episodes 25/26 worth checking out? Do they add anything meaningful?
>WHAT THE HELL IS THAT
>whats going on
>we dont know
>all our meters and guages are going off the scale
>but we havent done anything yet
>you think it could be Shinji?
>thats impossible, Unit 01's power level must be at zero!
SHHHKKKRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOONNNKKKKKKK
>my god is that what im piloting
>god in heaven what kind of monster have we made this from
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It's Misato, there is nothing to discuss
It's supposed to compliment the film. You gain some insight on the actual instrumentality that happened.
>cool wine aunt is bestgirl
lmao
they are good, unlike eoe
It's a different perspective about wtf is happening during instrumentality and yes adds something meaningful to the overall experience. Only brainlets disagree
The man of culture's opinion, thank you.
It's Rei you stupid fuck.
Watching again with the commentary and then watch it again without the commentary.
Congratulations!
This
overrated trash
>OP here, I watched up to episode 24 and (just now) the film, are episodes 25/26 worth checking out? Do they add anything meaningful?
That's how I recommend watching it. If you watch 25/26 first it's practically incomprehensible. Those episodes were done almost literally without a budget because they ran out of money. They might be interesting if you already know what happens from watching End of Evangelion.
>It's a different perspective about wtf is happening during instrumentality and yes adds something meaningful to the overall experience.
Only if you already know what technically happened from watching End of Evangelion.
Why didn't Shinji just have sex?
Live action when
It could be dope if Gaspar Noé got his hands on it
fucking kill yourself
Going out by your own hands is lame, though
t. vincent gallo
Whatever was worth talking about has been already discussed to death in previous years on Yea Forums. You missed the window boyo, now it's just unendliche waifu krieg and the eternal struggle between red and blue.
The animated equivalent to Blade Runner 2049
Live action remake with Goose when?
If dubs Ryan Gosling will voice Shinji in the Netflix dub.
kino is back on the menu, boys
Because we get this same thread everyday because some brainlet didnt get the movie
Whats not overrated
AHAHAHAHAHAHHA
holy fuck
based
kino that finally confirmed what we always knew...
asuka is best girl
15 years since I watched it and I still miss Asuka and Rei sometimes.
I WARNED YOU ANIME-LOVING LOSERS
WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN
I'm sorry user, but the correct answer has already been posted:
Based Abe
Over-hyped shit.
Of course it is
An obvious choice for a learned and wise gentlemen. Cheers!
God, 2.0 art style looks fucking terrible and souless.
EoE is
>#30 on RYM, 2nd highest anime film
>#70 on Letterboxd, 4th highest anime film (not counting Lain which is above it but isn't a film)
>#22 on MAL when only looking at anime films, below shit like Kimi no na wa, a Fate movie, two Gintama movies and a TTGL movie
Why can't anime fans appreciate one of the best anime?
Yo this next verse though
>why do literal plebs can't appreciate genuine art
Gee, I wonder why?
Noice, didn't know this one.
Letterboxd ratings always amaze me. Slow, less accessible films like Sátántangó and Tie Xi Qu are held in high regard, but then you have shit like Spiderverse ranked as the 7th greatest film of all time, and A Dog's Will ranked on par with Andrei Rublev and 2001
>NGE isn't even in the top 200 and EoE is barely in the top 100
>Lain isn't even in the top 500
>Angel's Egg isn't even in the top 1000
>but Steins;Gate 0 and Code Geass are top 100
What the fuck is wrong with anime fans? There is good anime but they hate it.
But then Tatami Galaxy is top 100 and LOTGH is fucking top 10 so I have no idea what the standards are.
Men of culture and sophistication.
Letterboxd's community is mixed. It's filled with pretentious SJWs, arthousefags, fa/tv/irgins and capeshitters.
You misspelled Rei, user
You misspelled Gei.
based
>imagine having a robot as a waifu
I will agree regarding rei smile at the end of 1.0 but generally it's not that bad.
If you watched it without watching the show you are a moron
Also, you need to read the information revealed in the video game to be able to make some sense out of it all
*sip*
Good post
>you need to read the information revealed in the video game to be able to make some sense out of it all
sub 50 IQ post right here
I feel bad since i never heard about lain wait never mind i downloaded it yesterday... Wow i have Alzheimer...
angels egg or tatami though. never heard about them
>having stockholm syndrome
It's Shinji you plebs.
One of the greatest animated movies ever and quite possibly one of the best movies ever.
But is it even possible to type out coherent sentences on a computer with such IQ?
Reminder:
He's right, Evangelion is worth $16.3 BILLION.
Is his right palm hairy or something?
Nah, he's just so fucked up.
>$16.3 BILLION
Yen, which isnt really that much.
I hardly know what to say now. I think pretty well of Evangelion but I don't love it like I do Haibane Renmei.
No, US dollars.
why the fuck system thinks this post is a spam
what the helll stop
In botany, a tree is a perennial plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, supporting branches and leaves in most species. In some usages, the definition of a tree may be narrower, including only woody plants with secondary growth, plants that are usable as lumber or plants above a specified height. Trees are not a taxonomic group but include a variety of plant species that have independently evolved a woody trunk and branches as a way to tower above other plants to compete for sunlight. Trees tend to be long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old. In wider definitions, the taller palms, tree ferns, bananas, and bamboos are also trees. Trees have been in existence for 370 million years. It is estimated that there are just over 3 trillion mature trees in the world.[1]
A tree typically has many secondary branches supported clear of the ground by the trunk. This trunk typically contains woody tissue for strength, and vascular tissue to carry materials from one part of the tree to another. For most trees it is surrounded by a layer of bark which serves as a protective barrier. Below the ground, the roots branch and spread out widely; they serve to anchor the tree and extract moisture and nutrients from the soil. Above ground, the branches divide into smaller branches and shoots. The shoots typically bear leaves, which capture light energy and convert it into sugars by photosynthesis, providing the food for the tree's growth and development.
Trees usually reproduce using seeds. Flowers and fruit may be present, but some trees, such as conifers, instead have pollen cones and seed cones. Palms, bananas, and bamboos also produce seeds, but tree ferns produce spores instead.
didn't know that
and apparently 11 billion is from pachinko machines lelle
fucking genius i deleted the non spam part and it no longer was spam
good job system
>All the religious symbolism was just there for the aesthetics
Stupid meme. The religious images do have symbolic meaning, just not RELIGIOUS meaning.
Hes right though. Anno literally said its bc it looked cool. Other, more subtle things like the entry plug being a freudian return to the womb were def intentional though.
Yeah, once you get past le quirky one-line reviewers, there's some decent people on there, maybe it would help if they introduced a forum/discussion tab
Reminder that AsukaXMisato is the best combination
a fine choice
what's that ending though that ain't Talking Heads
>Anno literally said its bc it looked cool
He didn't, stop spreading this fucking bullshit.
How about we don't do that
Why did i have to come to Yea Forums for a comfy eva thread?
Since I'm here, favourite episode boys?
Episode 19 for me.
I've forgotten the episode number, but the one with the synchronised Asuka/Shinji fight, best combat scenes in the seriesalongside Asuka going sicko mode in EoE
22
c-cute!
That's episode 9.
>alongside Asuka going sicko mode in EoE
That was honestly the best one vs many fights I've seen in any film
Will EoE be on Netflix as well or just NGE?
Reminder that evangelion is a shitty anime for pseudointellectual nerd hacks
Yes and a special version of Death & Rebirth
Taking out the "pseudo" shit you still have an amazingly animated and directed anime with a god tier soundtrack. And it's movie being a masterpiece of all the above.
youtube.com
Those sly motherfuckers at Netflix know what they're doing: draw the casual crowd in with mecha fights and don't show any of the downward spiral psychological stuff in the marketing
>he didn't get it
>Those sly motherfuckers at Netflix
This is the first based thing Netflix has ever done, the normalniggers will become based and redpilled on kino because of this.
Imagine unironically thinking a static shot that lasts for a minute is great animation. Imagine thinking evangelion has a good soundtrack. If I saw you in real life I would break your legs
Yes, it is, the point of Eva and especially EoE is to shit on otaku.
Why is netflix choosing the most garbage music for these trailers? Look how much better music from the show made the last one
Good choice. 19 was the moment the show became what it was meant to be.
But its 21 for me that seals the deal
Maybe it was something to do with royalties/copyright
Babby's first existential coming-of-age animu.
What's the second existential coming-of-age animu?
Boko No Pico
You can try Serial Experiments Lain if you are looking for something more moody or FLCL if you are looking for something more randumb.
And you don't seem to understaand...
a shame you seemed a honest maan
Yeah, i'll check Lain out next
bump from the brink
>Imagine thinking evangelion has a good soundtrack
Kill yourself right now.
>But its 21 for me that seals the deal
Patrician choice
it does tho
Reading comprehension, bro
Out of context the post can be interpreted in both ways.
yup, my mistake
>Self fellating because you think you’re a cool contrarian
Best Girl, coming through!
Anno, did not say that. What is pretty much always said on the matter is that there is no "CHRISTIAN meaning" to the show. Or in other words, there is no Christian narrative to the show, Jesus Christ has absolutely nothing to do with Evangelions. That doesn't mean that Gendo gravely announcing his plans to begin the instrumentality as a shadowy cross looms in the background has no symbolic meaning, or that the crucifix imagery often appearing around a characters death should be totally disregarded.
The main reason they even felt they needed to clear up this misconception in the first place was to distance themselves from the fucking new age death cult that had just killed a dozen people in Tokyo.
