That's a horror movie.
Grayson Hall
Define arthouse.
Tyler Wood
Low on narrative content and high on visual/symbolical content.
Isaac Garcia
Wrong.
Nolan Howard
horror films can be arthouse.
Carter Wood
Most arthouse is highly narrative and focused on social issues.
Daniel Gutierrez
Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion
Blake Walker
Under the Skin because it shows the true nature of roasties
Elijah Rivera
arthouse is for limpwristed gays and art hoes.
Mason Hughes
Its a place where they show arthouse films
Michael Perry
Nice. Where might I attend one of these 'arthouses'?
Camden Rivera
Zachary Jenkins
Wasn't eva pretty mainstream by the time it came out?
William Morales
Blade Runner 2049
Zachary Brown
Arthouse is for edgy dweeb lords.
Elijah Powell
This.
Also for low testosterone males that think that if they watch the arthouse films an art hoe suggests to them they are going to score.
They never do.
>pic related
>getting cucked: the movie
>still a virgin
Wyatt Reed
Joker
Jose Diaz
Werckmeister Harmonies and Eternity and a Day. I enjoy the cinematography, the nostalgic and sad tone of them and beautiful music. The political allegories and the subtext is also interesting but both of these work on the primary level, where you can just watch and be transported by the images. That's the power of visual storytelling that few films attain. It's all about the atmosphere and the power of visuals.
Ryder Campbell
Ultimate cuck kino.
If she tells you she liked blue valentine drop her.
Jonathan Collins
This is the most intellectual post I've ever seen on Yea Forums and it's in my thread. I'm honored.
Bentley Parker
Yea Forums is not a great place for serious discussion. Yesterday there was a thread about favourite directors, which also had some serious discussion and these week there were some other threads. Like Vláčil, Greenaway thread which was also good.
Oliver Smith
Wow what a garbage board. Back to mu/ i guess.
Jonathan Gonzalez
I hate unwarranted elitism like this.
I don't watch superhero movies but I don't scold people who do.
The rampant shitposting on Yea Forums isn't something I like and threads like this are a relief but acting all smug and superior because you can watch someone sitting on a chair upside down in black and white for half an hour, something completely subjective, a matter of taste varying on each person on whether it's bad or good, is just being a cunt.
Nolan Johnson
This man is right
Josiah Cruz
This.
Shitposters are bros.
Elitist fags get the rope.
Isaac Martin
Nobody is being elitist. Nobody is acting smug because he watches different films. I just said that when discussing other than Hollywood films the discussion is slow but there can be good threads.
Jose Ortiz
Fuck you. The whole site went to shit when Yea Forums stopped being a containment board
Calling one genre 'the intelligent one' sounds pretty elitist to me.
I moderately enjoy art house, but I wouldn't say they're anywhere near my favourite films.
Nathaniel Sanchez
>Calling one genre 'the intelligent one' sounds pretty elitist to me.
And where was this done?
Sebastian Sanders
...
Luis Cooper
I like Daisies, it’s fun.
Caleb Hughes
He said intellectual post. That has nothing to do with the genre.
Hunter Foster
I'm sorry if I just took offence on it and he didn't mean it, I don't want to derail the thread.
Luis Lopez
Paris, Texas is the most beautiful film ever made.
Jayden Wright
feeding the sneed (1999)
Chase Moore
Is le Samurai arthouse?
Lucas Murphy
Well that's Suspiria in a nutshell lol
Jonathan Ortiz
Arthouse is a term coined by ameritards to refer ANYTHING made outside Hollywood, it's so broad I refuse to pick just one
Chase Ward
There aren't many great looking shots there. Have you seen lawrence of Arabia? Or Baraka?
Austin Wilson
>le Samurai
9gag please go
Jaxson Lewis
Yes it is, ignore the other faggot
Jacob Martinez
yes please, stay there with every other edgy faggot that loves to drone on about their superior tastes in music/film
fag
Gabriel Stewart
I recently watched 8 1/2 and it made me feel some interesting feels. I really loved the flashbacks Guido has of his childhood, I’m a sucker for that in art. I can see why and how Scorsese has such a raging hard on for him, the camera movement was cool af. The scene with the priest in the sauna was great. Music too.
Levi Cox
Now watch La Dolce Vita if you haven't already seen it.
Adam Wood
Yes seen both, they are beautiful aswell but screenshots don't do Paris, Texas enough justice.
And it's beautiful in every way, from the soundtrack to it's narrative, not just visually.
Lucas Flores
this. its true for every movie that glorifies or justifies cheating , if she lists any of them as her favorite just drop the roastie
Landon Rogers
not always
Blake Phillips
probably unboxing ring 6
Bentley Howard
Will do
Lucas Young
"The Turin Horse" probably
Benjamin Roberts
Most recently would be La Casa Lobo, just because of the wonderful animation techniques used. It's a beautiful little piece. I'd say I don't know why it doesn't get discussed around here more, but then I remember this is capeshit shithole.
Brody Anderson
Blow-up
Jackson Ross
Based.
Cameron Young
shocked no one's said hard to be a god yet. seemed to be the go to pick for these kinds of threads.
Liam Hughes
Roasties wouldn't fuck the guy with the monster face.
Jeremiah Ramirez
And so didn't the Scarlett in the film.
Luke James
Gabriel Jenkins
Based and Blackpilled.
Benjamin Wood
I thought it was an allegory on succubi mind control of men.
Hunter Murphy
This plays every easter on every channel in my country but I've never fully watched it since I was a kiddo
Noah Young
Aiden Ward
HARAKIRI most underappreciated film on this whole board
Easton Bell
Levi Thompson
Kino.
Isaac Taylor
Good post, great film. I agree. I'm really sick of allegorical films that fail on the direct experience because they sacrifice too much just to convey a statement that would sound retarded if they didn't shroud it up and obfuscate it. First and foremost it should work on its own. I hate when people try to justify a shitty experience by saying you need to replace X with Y. You don't need to understand anything additional with Werckmeister Harmonies to enjoy it, it manages to give an almost transcendental experience on a purely emotional level.
Michael Wright
Funky Forest. If that counts.
Nathaniel Campbell
William Hall
Is that really arthouse tho?
Oliver Gonzalez
I live for art.
Justin Bennett
If by arthouse you mean "anything that isn't mass produced Hollywood garbage" then that's a deep pool to choose from
8 1/2 is probably the best film I've ever seen though
