The show really doesn't capture how stressed and fucked up Dany gets in Meereen, how she knows Daario is an untrustworthy asshole who wants to turn her into a murdering tyrant but still can't get away from him, how all her efforts to plant trees and make Meereen a happy place fall apart, and her realization that she simply does not belong there. When Dany flys off on Drogon from the fighting pits, it's her breaking point where she just wants to get the fuck out of there, but the show just doesn't have her get to that point mentally. Then we get Tyrion in the last episode tell Jon how sure of her righteousness Dany is which is total bullshit for book Dany
They did at least have her chain up the dragons because she didn't want children getting killed, but that also seems to have been forgotten in season 8

The whole wight hunt really needed to be re thought out.
First there needed to be a good reason why they needed Cersei's help in the first place instead of having Dany just fly to the red keep , burn Cersei and then use the entire power of the kingdom to fight the White Walkers when she's Queen.
You could also use Preston's idea of having the Night King use Bran to send visions luring Jon and Dany beyond the wall to spring a trap to get one of Dany's dragons. I mean otherwise what the fuck was the Night King's plan to get through the wall?

He's said he has no problem changing how major plot turns or points unfold if something else fits better by the time he gets there, so I doubt he's really stuck sticking to his old plan.
