just watch it on 4 takes
This movie's ancient anyway. It would be like watching a black & white movie. The people who lived back then didn't even have internet..

>In 2001, for “Apocalypse Now: Redux,” Coppola put 49 minutes of previously cut footage back in. The idea was for people to see the whole scope of his original vision, regardless of how weird it may have played. However, Coppola has said that he doesn’t believe this fully restored version was the best version of the film, as it played too long and was uneven at times.
>For his “Final Cut,” Coppola said he has found a version he can stand behind. By studying old cuts of the film preserved on Betamax, Coppola said he felt he discovered where he went wrong in editing the film (due to financial and distribution pressure) and removed 20 minutes of the new material from “Redux” in this new final cut. The new running time is three hours and two minutes.
It's going to be fucking perfect.
It's a masterpiece. Touches on every aspect of human nature with the Vietnam War as a catalyst. It's a beautiful film that represents all aspects of human nature. Captain Willard is someone you can identify with. A down and out special forces assassin who sees beyond the lies of the commanders.
ugh, get them out before they start touching things with their wretched, sticky little fingers
This 6 minute clip is all you need to see. Kilgorge was based and surf-pilled.
> says it touches every aspect of human nature twice.
Huh
Kilgore was dope but he was pleb in the grand scheme of things. Willard and Kurtz were true officers trying to win the war no matter the cost.
>martin was 36 but looks 25
How did he do it lads
fucking zoomers are at it again
Spot on my man
I'm dabbing your way respectfully
Fuck the boomers
Fuck boomer movies
Watched Apocalypse now and the Godfather multiple times, I just figured out he is Tom Hagen 3 months ago
My favorite is the plantation scene. Makes the movie.
It's hated on but IMHO it gives us a reason why the Americans are there. To consolidate losses of western allies.
Worst part of redux for me is how they make Willard into a much more sociable and friendly character for the film's first half, like where he nicks Kilgore's surfboard, and buys the playboy bunnies for his men (there's one scene where he tries to tell them this whilst they are fighting an it feels like a comedy film). I think having him as a constant silent-type who never gets on with his crew is much more effective desu. That's saying Redux is still based, and the theatrical cut is one of my fav films ever. Can't wait to see the final cut in Imax this summer.
He had to be social and gain the trust of the men. He was a lone Army officer on a Navy pbr. He was essentially on a suicide mission for the greater good of the corporation(military industrial complex). This is touched on when the captain of the boat comments that similar special forces have gone up river... and gone insane or killed themselves. None of them would have ever taken them all the way if they knew the consequences.
In the end he would have done anything to meet Kurtz because he was mystified by him. He wanted to meet him because he saw him as an almost God like figure. Captain Willard would have done anything to get to his objective. He knew it when he accepted the mission.
the documentary "hearts of darkness" is worth a watch
>watch the super premium extended special director's cut
>all the scenes I didn't like were the ones that were cut from the theatrical release
Really liked the movie as in filmic way But the plot (whi cares about plot anyways?) is shit and I never got the Kurtz hype. Doesnt help that Brando didnt want to be there. The obsession the guy has with Brando is never explored, it just happens.
Then they overhype the final destination by saying everyone will die or be lost in madness but nothing happens. Its just a fat fuck living with some chink niggers in mudhuts like some sort of Sean Connery gone right in The man who would be king.
There is no madness. There is no life and death danger. Much less a real reason to send a squad to kill a frog muncher fat fuck hiding in a mud hut. What was the risk or the issue? He was just chilling there with a small tribe.
I really never understood why was his life or death so important to the US, to the death squad, to everyone
Kurtz ascended into Godhood lad. Captain Willard was the final step. A man he respected sent to take his pain away. Kurtz was the ultimate soldier who had what it takes to win the war. He sacrificed everything.. even his own bonds to his family to win and his country turned its back on him. He was revered as a God among his "people" but nothing mattered anyways since his country wouldn't allow him to win. In the end he just wanted to go out like a proper soldier and Willard was the avenging angel.
