good cast, keeping same crew and writers for entire series, mystery was compelling until the end

Black magic, cheap beer, other man's lawn and ass, loli lovin' revenge

The college student who wrote season 1 is what made it good. Pizzaface stole it.

Same thing that made S2 good. Quality

the fans

S2 sucked. Caspere knew this.

Expand on this. I know he stole shit from Ligotti but never heard about that

They also used material from Alan Moore's Top Ten.

The atmosphere, the acting, the story. All worked top notch together in an interesting and unique setting (rural southern Louisiana).

None of the other seasons managed to capture what season 1 did so well, though season 3 gave you hope that it might, but inevitably it never achieved anywhere near the perfection.

I can still re-watch season 1 and be amazed at just how high quality it was. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch season 2 or season 3 again.

Matthew M and director Cary JF. Also the Louisiana language and accents. Yo psycho bit don’t care me boy.

There isn't a bunch of niggers, trannies, or feminist bullshit in it. Just vindictive white men. Best kino there is.

dusty masonry

Woody Harrelson. That's literally it. Rewatch it and tell me I'm wrong. protip you cant

The setting, the lovecraft and good actors all around.

Lovecraft.

southern gothic buddy cop with lovecraftian undertones

wasn't all the philosophy stolen from some book? lmao
The director is hack and got exposed in S2

Season one's worst moment probably has to be when they show that guy a kiddy porn video and it cuts to a shot of the boat and you hear him screaming as if he's being tortured. Fucking lel.

Good writing, directing, and acting.

Should have just made it a graphic novel, at least then they can explore the Lovecraftian elements that was hinted at but never realized

Unapologetically white

It was good all the way till the last episode where it turned into a D list horror movie with a predictible and cliched way of taking out the big bad. Very disappointing though the hospital scene and Rusts acting made it salvagable. Still nowhere near as good as it couldve been

first 5 episodes were absolute kino. last 3 were pretty bad, you could tell those had yet to be written when the series was picked and were rushed. s2 is one of the worst season of any show ever

This

its script was essentially a love child of some autist for over 20 years, meanwhile season 2 and 3 were just ass pulls

Absolutely this

Reggie LADOO

The video was cutting up a little girl and likely cannibalism of her. It wasn't just sexual. Also the internet wasn't around to popularize gore, so people weren't used to violence as much.

Grounded awesome with lovecraftian BS to enhance it.

pretty much this. all the philosophical stuff and the way it interacts with the nature of the crime and rust's character is what makes it good. the rest is pretty mediocre drama

Fun and interesting dynamics between the two actors, and believable acting mixed with and suspenseful plot

>southern gothic
Literally the only correct answer.

You know exactly what book that was and saying "some book?" with "lmao" at the end won't make you sound casual and detached.

Stop making excuses and rationalizations for bad writing you mong

It was a ritual sacrifice you idiot. It wasn't sex. You're the one being a retard here.
