this fucking show would've been 100x better if the fucking melodramatic music was completely eliminated. Seriously, what is with burgers and their need to rape my ears with cheesy orchestral faggotry HERE NOW U'RE SUPPOSED TO FEEL SAD YOU'RE WELCOME bullshit. I know a show like this is by nature a little bit 'patriotic' and whatever but the fucking music makes it sound like a fucking badly acted Hallmark tv special set in Normandy
>things foreigners will never understand >honor and sacrifice
Adam Bell
>I know a show like this is by nature a little bit 'patriotic' This was a show made that embodied American sacrifice in a global conflict long before about half the country became self hating and actively began undermining their own borders and sovereignty. It was a product of a different time
Mason Wright
the fuck does cheesy music has to do with "honor and sacrifice"
>muh good ole days the word I was looking was "jingoistic" btw, shows like these are jingoistic by nature (Generation Kill might be an exception). IDGAF about the politics of it, I just can't understand how amerisharts can digest the infantile music
Nathaniel Parker
Generation Kill centered specifically around USMC culture. Things like the suck, hopelessness, Marine ethos, and general jackassery. The war itself and it’s absurdity only serve as a vessel to show off the USMC lifestyle and the group of Marines interacting with one another. Band of Brothers on the other hand revolves around the noble mission of an airborne unit. Keyword, noble. The music reflects that as compared to Generation Kill where the Marines, although shit-hot in their soldierly duties, are basically a kind of grunt counter culture and far removed from the morality of their mission. I too prefer Generation Kill(Jarhead is great for the same reasons), but I love Band of Brothers all the same
Joseph Cox
What country are you from?

1000x better if the holohoax episode was cut

I understand the differences between the shows, and I don't mind there being some music in BoB, but I just literally watched a scene of a soldier (in BoB) staring at the sky for no reason other than poorly trying to showcase ptsd I guess, and the sound of cheesy as fuck chimes raping my ears, and the scene didn't go anywhere....
fuck this show I'm going to try and finish but holy fuck, I really downplayed how much of a manipulative shithead mr spielberg is.
Jaxon Wright
As far as the melodramatic music, it was a product of the times. Late 90's - early 00's was rife with this sort of cheese, you couldn't escape it. ie Gladiator, spider-man, pearl harbor, titanic, the list goes on.
Charles Wilson
Have you watched The Pacific?
Austin Wilson
not yet, should I?
Evan Barnes
There’s a lot of varied opinions on it, but I think you should watch it. It covers multiple characters from different units throughout a number of years of Pacific campaigns, as compared a single unit during a single year. Some of the stories are Band of Brothers-ish(John Basilone) but some of them will give you a series taste of Generation Kill indifference and attitude. Sounds like that’s what you’re after anyways. I liked it more than Band of Brothers
Nolan Rogers
>this was a show made that ESL dirtskin scum, you will never know what it means to be American, so its not a shocker that you don't feel any loyalty to a country that you neither belong to nor are welcomed in. I honestly suggest you go back or kill yourself quietly.

op is a eurofag millenial and can't fathom any soundtrack not consisting of rap or triphop if your ears were raped by the music in the Blye episode, your soul will kvetch when our plucky paratroopers liberate the (((camp)))
Parker Walker
I think the only weakness of it compared to BoB is that the main cast is less memorable, but they still have their moments and there are plenty of great side characters, like Rami Malek's and this dude. The production values are better overall, but in particular the larger battle setpieces are almost at the level of the opening of Saving Private Ryan. I think almost every major battle in the Pacific is shown to some extent
yes, I share your anger regarding the soundtrack. Many americans like to put their iPod tracklist or some gay orchestra behind good scenes, that's why I only watch eastern european movies.
