I tried to like Swamp Thing but I gave up 10 minutes in and skimmed the rest.
I think it just takes to long to set up and there's little to no redeeming qualities from what we see in the set up.
The episode should have been half as long with half the scenes cut. The town hall meeting setpiece was good, the bayou restaurant setpiece was good, and so was the lab in the middle of the swamp. I think they just do a poor job of organizing these in a more logical and coherent way, maybe give more contextual information about where these things are geographically in relation to each other, maybe make the whole town feel a bit more isolated from the rest of the world.

It's not that good. 2 episodes of 10 in and it has just barely gotten started and set up his superhero origin.
That plot so far seems so standard unless they pull some crazy unexpected shit it is obvious exactly how the season overarching plot will play out.
Also some of the better source material elements such as Parliament of Trees and Arcane Avatar of the Rot are confirmed not in plus Woodgrue is still a regular human.

The first episode was painful to watch.
The dialogue was stilted as fuck. (It all sounds like a first draft) Nobody behaved logically. (Touch EVERYTHING without gear. Ask no questions. Reveal your most painful secret after knowing someone for 5 minutes.) Characters just appear and disappear in a given location when the plot needs them to. Dialogue and action doesn't match. (The female CDC doctor finishes a speech telling everyone to wear all gear including masks and goggles, then wears neither in any scene so we can see her eyes, face, and hair. Seriously, this bitch has her long ass hair hanging down on an INFECTIOUS CORPSE during an autopsy )The swamp is apparently just a 100ft area around some guys house.(Convenient!) And super mutagen juice can replace every cell in a guys body in under a minute.
The show deserved better writers, and a director with more than half a brain. The basic idea is interesting, the clever use of life action effects and CG are great, but there's just nothing here that makes me ever want to watch this show. It's just plain bad.
