I didn’t connect with any of the characters or feel bad when they died.
And to top it off a stupid ass ending displaying the retarded American Justice System. “Hurr durr the law we protected was retarded so let’s celebrate by doing the exact thing the law was against.”
What a shit movie, it had so much more potential.
Holy shit this movie was a disappointment
I quite liked it.
It was ok. Some scenes were forced and awkward.
> Sean Connery took forever to die crawling around the floor.
> The baby in the buggy going down the steps in slomo, maybe that was exciting in the 80s
> The accountant guy who was only their for 'comic' relief
> Making fun of canadians on the border bridge
> de Niro was boring, not convincing as Capone
> Costner? No. Just no.
The girl who got blown to pieces at the start was cool. Also like the costumes and cars.
That is all.
one of depalmas weakest yet ironically his most popular. go figure.
Pretty pointless movie that's way beneath De Palma (and admittedly not something he was particularly invested in) but the set-pieces were excellent (particularly the Potemkin stairs sequence and Connery's death) and its a great film whenever De Niro is on screen.
It's definitely not more popular than Scarface, Mission Impossible or Carrie.
Had high expectation because of writer and director. This shit is every bit as corny as an Indiana Jones movie.
Only the score by Morricone saves that piece of shit of a movie
The baby going down in the train station is from the Battleship Potemkin, a Russian kino.
>Only the score by Morricone saves that piece of shit of a movie
Its a great score on its own, but the way it's used in the movie is so overbearing that it bordered on parody and actually made the movie worse imo
scarface is popular among college kids and nogs. carrie among horror fans. Ill give you MI but Untouchables is his second highest grossing behind that, and Tom Cruise greatly affected the former.
Agreed 100%.
Amazing potential from looking at the cast and everyone involved with production.
There are other factors than box office to consider when judging the popularity of a decades old movie. Carrie and Scarface had enduring popularity, this film did not. (For good reason)
enduring with movie buffs not normies.
Anyone see Domino yet? Clearly it was hacked to ribbons by the studio and already suffering from budget issues, but it's best scenes were classic BDP.
Nah man, Scarface and Carrie are part both ingrained in the public consciousness, especially Scarface. Every normie knows 'Say hello to my little friend' and I doubt many who aren't interested in film and weren't alive when it came out even know what The Untouchables is.
I thought Scarface was one of the coolest movies ever when I saw it as an edgy teen.
Now, it's just a total piece of shit.
Id argue there are more old people alive who remember "that fine kevin costner movie" than gen y and unders who grew up with scarface in their faces. also
>just like a wop, bring a knife to a gunfight
i dont even like the untouchables very much. give me depalmas hitchcock biting stuff any day. also his MI, i love that film.
You're overcorrecting, it's overrated but still pretty good. Carlito's Way is better in every way though.
man i haaaated carlitos way but i cant remember why. my least favorite of his.
I agree with you OP. It's a bad movie and Costner is a terrible actor.
Only De Palma movie I've ever seen that was actually bad is Bonfire of the Vanities.
costner is indeed the worst. my mom used to love that guy when i was a kid.
ITT: Plebes. It's a great period flick, a great cop flick, a great action flick if you're patient and Costner actually wakes up and acts in it. Jesus H. Christ guys.
Yeah, this might be one of the most overrated movies of all time. It's not a surprise it's just a "cultural" icon nowadays and not really on anyone's top movies lists or anything.
your name must end with a vowel, you greaseball
‘Battleship Potemkin’ is a shit film, that should be purged from existence.
>The baby going down in the train station is from the Battleship Potemkin, a Russian kino.
Fuck off. It was in Gremlins (1984)
This board is a fucking embarrassment to the prestigious Yea Forums name.
most depalma depalma film
De Palma has a really sappy, cynical attitude when it comes to his big commercial movies, and the Untouchables is no different, but holy fuck it's kino. Best Costner movie, best prohibition movie
Best De Palma movie
>stupid ass
stop that
>sappy, cynical
Those words don't go together. One of them doesn't mean what you think it means.
he thinks theyre synonyms
Kek
>i didn't connect with any of the characturrrrs
Sounds like a you problem. A film's job isn't to pander to your dumb fucking ass. If a film did a poor job of developing a character say why or how instead of a fucking blanket statement that implies you're just an ass deluded faggot with arbitrary taste and reasoning.
It's more reasonable to assume you were on your fucking phone the entire time than you even having the slightest clue what makes a film work. Fuck off shithead pleb.
And yes you can easily make the case The Untouchables sucks without sounding like a fucking zoomer faggot.
The movie was showing on a macro scale, how the criminal gangs of the period were taken out by forces within the government.
Different Crimal organizations in different major cities were being taken out at the same time by different methods.
