GOOLD?
I haven't watched but a few episodes. How did a couple humans and one tokra defeat "gods" with super advanced technology?
Spoil it all if you want. I think this has 10 seasons and that would take me a long time to watch. That would take me like a year.
Answer: The gods are incompetent and arrogant.
Also humans get ridiculous deus ex haxx every season.
Mostly by turning them against each other. Sometimes getting lucky. And in the case of a couple (Anubis, Apophis the second time), deux ex machina intervention from OPed allies like Oma Desala and the Asgard.
>false gods REEEEEEE
posting for hot tok'ra tits
What's the story behind the casting of this bint again? The SG1 writers were trying to compete with Star Trek or something like that?
They were trying to boost the ratings, but then decided the ratings were fine as they were
Start with TNG if TOS is too campy for you
Been wathcing this, Thought it would be more stupid Seth Mcfartlane shit, but it's not and I love it now.
watch the movie, it's fuckin great.
its still got a lot of seth macfarlane shit but it still manages to kind of not be shitty most of the time.
I guess by that I meant some dumb dick joke every 10 seconds. I figured, Family Guy meets Star Trek. I think it holds its own with the likes of TNG and SG1.
Babylon 5 if you can get past the dated special effects.
With Star Trek start with TOS, give it 3-4 episodes and if you don't like it jump to TNG. If you have problem with TNG too try jumping to Season 3 if that does nothing watch DS9 and then Enterprise.
i remember there was a terrible fart joke like 5 minutes into the first episode and i was pissed. still am pissed. klyden makes up for it somewhat.
Well god damn it, I don't want NO fart and dick jokes, just not as much as Family Guy.
I downloaded Star Trek Discovery, haven't heard anything about it though.
Oh boy you are in for some deadly butt aids
It's terrible
That bad huh? Just want some good space shit and haven't found anymore decent books.
its pure fantasy and not the fantasy of someone intelligent.
Delete it now, it's a pile of shit. I wish I could go back and unsee it. Don't throw away your std virginity.
Just watch the Redlettermedia 4 minute version of Discovery. It so accurate there's no need to watch the real thing. youtube.com
I started to make a supercut of every single time Don said goold in the series but I ran out of disk space and had to delete my sg1 dvd rip.
The gods have been uncontested for so long they're extremely arrogant. They also haven't been fighting among themselves that often as Ra maintained hegemony for well over 3000 years so they're stagnant.
When Ra is killed the power vacuum only escalates and escalates.
Oh I also left out that a side effect of their technology to maintain biological immortality is neurosis. They're all head cases too.
Farscape
Andromeda
Red Dwarf
Babylon 5
Star Trek TNG and DS9
Firefly
BSG
Damn, 90s/early 00s sci-fi TV was fucking great. What happened to sci-fi?
>Red Dwarf
so comfy
from these do any get signifcantly better after the first few episodes? i dont want to quit something just before it gets good
bab5 is some long haul shit. season 1 of every trek is mostly bad. BSG starts off strong and stays strong til it jumps some sharks.
The Expanse
You should watch the Expanse.
I like the Expanse TV show, you might also like the Expanse TV show.
Sg1, sgu, sga, bsg, firefly, farscape, B5, lexx.
All other sci fi shows are fucking crap.
>wheres the best place to start with star trek if ive never seen anything before?
The first episode retard
Yes.
>Farscape: really good
>Andromeda: don't care
>Red Dwarf: based as fuck
>Babylon 5: garbage
>Star Trek TNG: great
>Star Trek DS9: don't care
>Firefly: fine
>BSG: mini-serie and first season were awesome, meh the rest.
DS9 is at least as good as TNG.
>people actually like Farscape
More contrived than a shonen anime.
>and then he was brainwashed
>and then she died
>but then she got magic'd back from the shadowrealm
>but then she died
>but then their were voices in his head
>but then he controls it
>but then he was cloned
>but then the hunter team was his girlfirends mother
>but then he died
>but then the dead clone had vagina secks
>but then she had a kid
>but then
It's just so fucking bad guys. It never stops. The "characters" are all bipolar fuckwits. It is so bad.
And DS9 is a complete ripoff of Babylon 5
epic lol
>would i like battlestar galactica?
BSG is the greatest show ever made. Start with the 2-part mini series and then S01E01.
I gave Farscape a chance, I really did, but I never watched an episode that I wouldn't have to force myself to enjoy.
Watch Atlantis and maybe Universe.
Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica.
Farscape and The Expanse.
If doing Trek check out The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. If you like it then you can check out the rest.
Trek, Bab5 and Farscape all start out at their weakest before turning into kino.
When I gave up I just chalked people liking it up to liking the setting so much they ignore the really bad characterization and often wonky standalone episodes.
>alien is a lavish muppet with at least 2 people running him
>there's even two in a shot
>set looks like it's balling out of a 80's B movie
This frequently bothered me. Decent cgi for its time though.
I don't see why anyone would be particularly fond of the setting. There wasn't much to it and what there was was generic. I watched half the series and never got a good feel for the universe.
The setting does a good job of feeling alien but it's not that fleshed out.
I look at Claudia Black like I look at Amanda Tapping that is They both hit the wall and got so fucking old after their first seasons
