GET BACK HERE MR. HICKEY
GET BACK HERE MR. HICKEY
WHAT IS YOUR RESCUE PLAN?
I'M A NORTHWEST NIGGER AND I WANNA A BE FREE
>a gay cannibal was the villain
what did they mean by this
YOU ARE RUINING THIS EXPEDITION MISTER HICKEY
h-he's fast
I CAN IMAGINE THE SMELL FROM HERE, LADS
>finally after all these years, we have become the northwest passage
jesus christ AMC
There's nothing that way mr hickey
Was Hickey a top or a power bottom? The former, right?
>"I suppose The Terror was our fellow man in the end..."
what the FUCK were they thinking?
For (You)
Why is he running like anime when the series takes place in the 1800s
GET BACK HERE, MR NARUTO
of course he was a top. he probably fucked half of the crew.
Top, undoubtably so
MISTER HICKEY DO NOT TOUCH THE GRAPHITE DEBRIS
Did The Terror have a happy ending? I really can't decide.
huh? nah he had girls and wanted a son
Why can't I fucking buy this on Blu-ray outside of America!
>every story should have a happy fairy ending
I'm not saying that, I just can't decide if it was supposed to be a happy ending or not.
Just finished my rewatch last night, fucking hell the ending is so beautiful, i love the show so much what a gem
For Crozier? I always thought not, he seems resigned to his fate in the final scene
He lost all of his friends and his entire crew and think he was pretty sad at the end.
AMC are fags. There's a lot of them about, so many that multiregion blu ray players are totally worth the price.
What fate? He could get back to civilization at that point.
That speed...
Naruto takes place in feudal Japan, where's the inconsistency?
In the book, yes. He marries Lady Silence and has two kids. In real life? Maybe. There are reports he was seen with the Inuits.
He is physically capable of it but there'd be no point, he'd be disgraced for the mission's failure and loss of his crew, even if he could provide a reasonable explanation for it, which he couldn't.
based single digit iq poster
You could also argue that he finds peace with the natives considering there's no reason to go back to europe which I think is a happy ending.
HE CAN"T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Why was he naruto running?
imagine having your dick smell liek shit for 3 years because you couldnt help but bugger fucking billy
isn't this dude like 4 feet tall
There's plenty of reason to think Crozier was happier at sea on expedition then at home in England.
But was he a man that really needed to find peace? He wasn't really ambitious or obsessed with anything, he didn't have a Moby Dick to chase. I think at the end he sees himself, or maybe the entirety of the expedition, as a dud. Something that had the potential to be great but, out of pure misfortune, failed to live up to it.
Exactly, he was happier being with the natives because there was nothing left for him in england.
After losing his entire crew? He certainly did need to find peace and he was never going to be happy returning to england.
what was Mr. Hickeys end goal? I thought him trying to tame the creature or whatever he was doing seemed really out of character. he was built up as just a resourceful cunning survival at all costs kinda guy, but in the end he was just a nutter who wanted to control the creature it seemed.
nigga just wanted to go to hawaii
>I thought him trying to tame the creature or whatever he was doing seemed really out of character
did you even watch the show? he was literally going for godlike status post-mutiny
He was a mentally unstable patty BEFORE he spent years isolated in the arctic eating lead-tainted rations.
how did he even know that cutting your tongue out appeases the bear?
He was obviously very hurt and saddened by the loss of his crew, but I don't think he felt anxiety over what happened. I don't think he wasn't at peace with the outcome, just depressed over the fact that it happened.
Without the creature Hickey was absolutely going to die, and he knew it. Going balls to the walls on a crazy idea had a higher chance of securing his survival than anything else.
why would he die without it? how would it help him survive?
By bringing him seals. Do you even watch the show?
apparently not, when did that happen?
dead eskimo missing tongue
he didnt know anything about that though, literally all he knew was what everyone else on the ships knew was that the eskimo cut out there tongue for some reason and that might help them with dealing with the beast.
When the bear was singing to girl outside her igloo, it brought her a seal.
>there was nothing left for him in england.
there was this in the show, apparently they changed her character significantly from the book
He saw Silence talking to it in the third episode or whatever, who knows what she was doing? For all you know the bear said "give me your fucking tongue".
Hickey's soul is what kills the beast. It wouldn't help him.
>One reason that he doesn't go back to England and remains in exile is that he feels intensely guilty for killing Tuunbaq, thus wrecking Silna's life and jeopardizing the lives of the local Inuit, and he's determined to pay that debt by any means.
this
the only thing that annoys me about Crozier staying is that it leaves the whole ring subplot in the dirt
Why does that ruin Silna's life and threaten the lives of the natives?
she was a malignant cunt
No it doesn't, they've got all sorts of modern technology
AAAAAAAA CROZIER HELP
That's the point. It represents the end of the line that the entire crew met on the expedition, nothing escapes.
And besides, the ring subplot died with Goodsir.
what the FUCK was his problem
he asked crozier to deliver it but couldn't remember the name of the boy who died with it
>Notably, Nagaitis was told to avoid reading the book at all, whereas most of the other actors were asked to study it intensely, as the producers considered show!Hickey to be functionally a different person in the same role. Nagaitis drew most of his inspiration from the Villain Protagonists of the works of Jean Genet instead.
I just finished that show yesterday. So fucking good. Jared Harris and Edmure Tully knocked it out of the goddamned park.
>Edmure Tully
kill yourself zoomer nigger
Because England is the only country in the world? He couldve settled in mexico or jamaica for fucks sake.
I hate how fucking retarded youngfags are these days.
At the time Jamaica was under British rule and Mexico was at war with America. Even if that were not the case, getting to either without identification or money would be insanely difficult.
Yeah, which is why it died with him.
Because every fucking bumfuck english guy in the americas would recognize him?
Disappearingis easy today, it wouldve been a picknick back then.
>Edmure Tully
You mean Brutus?
nvm u right
116325511
kill yourself reddit spacing retard
Now that the dust has settled, why did that guy have chains in his face?
Its not about the consequences for him. Its about his honor as a commanding officer, he lost his ship, his men. His honor doesn't allow him to go home and live the easy life when everyone else died.
Someone on Yea Forums said it was something people did to stop themselves falling asleep, whenever he nodded, the chains would pull his skin.
Personally, I think it was because he and the people around him were fucking mental from lead poisoning.
their naval uniforms were so fucking aesthetic
idk man i want to know too
Overcoats need to make a comeback. I have a peacoat I wear but longer coats are way better. Fuck synthetic materials too.
Unless you're rather attractive you look like shit in a peacoat.
holy shit thats the same actor? what a guy
I look like shit in general so I don't really care. It's comfortable and warm.
this show reminded me of my notion that when you die of extreme trauma, you might not even know it, which is terrifying. could seem liek a dream and before you knwo it, you're dead. examples: sir james being dragged to the ice hole and mr hickey shanking that lieutenant
What was with the gold chains on that dude's face at the end? Fucking Pinhead came to visit?
Yeah, I like that as well. Hickey's soul was so fucking vile and tainted, it straight up killed the fuckin' Tupaaq.
I think its meant you show, in a jarring visual sense, just how crazed and savage the last team became after the captain got kidnapped and they had run out of food and started eating people. This gold chain nose guy had become primal and insane like the rest of the men, and all died of disease/starvation/exhaustion
There is no reason. They put it in because of this canadianmysteries.ca
You can come up with different explanations, such as it being payment for his burial to a deranged dressing up in jewelry to disassociate himself from reality but that's just speculation.
faggots btfo
I thought it was the crew that he tried to command to rescue Crozier going mental and brandishing his face with golden chains to mock his rank and command.
Yeah, I figure its just a sign of madness taking hold over the men. Either the man himself or someone else who decorated his corpse.
a good theory but i think it was just delirious superstition
Why didn't Crozier and the eskimos go back to the ships to help the crew that was left behind with enough supplies to last the winter?
i think it's safe to say they were dead
I'm pretty ready for the second series.
Will the despicable faggot character be the main villain in S2 too?
Why? Did they just assume that for no reason?
Season 1 was great, but won't watch season 2 because of him.
idk. besides, if it thaws; it thaws. either way crozier didn't want to go back
Yeah, the premise sounds lousy and I fully expect the progessive political pandering to be insufferable.
I wish they'd gone Dr. Livinston and had Victorian Brit shenanigans in deepest darkest Africa or gone the Kipling route and done India. Native mythology vs. the west in the age of exploration is a kino concept.
Jap ghosts in a WW2 concentration camp doesn't have any mystery to it. Not to mention the concept of the Japs of all people being portrayed as victims in WW2 is just absurd, pic related.
It's the chain of command.
That was very depressing
>run everyone, it's the Coqsuuk
Don't you see that you answer yourself in the question? In that situation the only chance was a hail Mary like trying to take over the bond with the creature. And why do you instantly jump on the idea that he wanted to control the creature all along? There was no dialouge or anything else suggesting that.
I heard somewhere that it was a common practice for sailors to carry jewelry (particularly gold) so that if you died you could pay for a funeral for your family back at home.
Every. Fucking. Thread.
WE STILL DON'T HAVE A GOOD ANSWER. WHY DID HE BURN DOWN THE CARNIVAL AND WHY DID THAT GUY HAVE CHAINS IN HIS FACE?
>in the terror, lead is bad
>in Chernobyl lead is good
Checkm8 liberals
>run everyone, it's the Coqsuuk
jfc
>Tupaaq
Goodsir's death with his last visions (shell, flower, all the white background) and the music was pure kino
He burnt down the carnival as "A Mercy" (that's the title of the episode) because he knew they were doomed. He had just learned the food they had were poisoned with lead
That and he'd lost it.
He was the Doctor, he felt a degree of responsibility for the health of the men. So he couldn't rationalize killing himself and leaving them to their fate but if he killed everyone then its a mercy killing his final responsibility as a doctor before he dies.
I can't find this specific track on youtube any more, I think it was deleted
Shame
was he the dyatlov of the crew?
To bugger Jesus
Kind of, but I'd say Franklin was more delusional
He was jealous of Crozier's status, position of power and the fact he was beloved and respected by his men
He also wanted revenge for that punishment he got
>Terror-posting is a thing again
Thank you Chernobyl
The only thing more kino than watching gau joker get mauled by a manbear was seeing slimy commies DNA ripped apart by radiation.
I don't think I've ever seen anything with Jared Harris that wasn't good.
They are really good shows.
>promise her to keep watch over her uncle
>he dies
>all the crew besides him die
>implying she'd marry him, or would be allowed to marry him if she wanted to
I don't understand how Hickey is "lonely".
inuit stories report that they found a corpse wrapped up in gold chains
though im not sure if that included being pierced into the skin
He's a kino magnet
the Donner Party would fit too
He's punishing himself you absolute fucking brainlet
Gold chains were very common for both sailors and pirates. It was easy to carry, hard to steal, gold was accepted as money everywhere on the planet and you could take off just a link or two and sell them for their weight in gold and still keep the rest of your necklace or if you had some extra cash you could buy more links for your chain.
Why did Mr. Hickey need to murder someone and take their identity? I was under the impression in those days they couldn't get enough people for these expeditions/ crews of waships, so they press ganged to swell their ranks? He could have just signed up and then ditched the ship when they put in at Gibraltar or something and started fresh outside Britain.
Yeah, old west with American Indian spirits. Maybe running into a skin walker. Or you could go central or south American. Anywhere that's relatively unexplored maintains that sense of mystery and vulnerability to nature.
A WWII concentration camp in California is tonally wrong.
30 LASHES!
he was always a psycho
not for the arctic m8, plus leaving the ship in the tropics/fun places is a constant worry
AS A BOY
Wait, so is this an American-owned concentration camp where they keep Japanese, or is it the other way around? I was never very informed about this, but I assumed it would be a Japanese-owned camp with americans inside.
There was also a description of someone resembling James Fitzjames.
And in the 1900s explorers met mixed-race Inuit who claimed they were the children of someone from the expedition
By telling the captain that he thinks of people in the way that he was superior to everyone but him, he's communicating his remote, cynical, egocentric opinion of how men interact and his place in an imaginary hierarchy of 'worth' he uses as a framework to his worldview.
Crozier, because he's a man who leads other men by calling and trade, immediately realises that Hickey has no feeling or experience of comradeship or friends. Hickey has chosen to place himself outside of a society he looks down on.
Crozier literally says
>You could've just signed up
Its an American camp where US citizens of Japanese ancestry were interned during WWII because the government were afraid they might be spies, which wasn't entirely without basis after some Japanese citizens turned traitor in Hawaii at the start of the war. Takei himself was interred in one of the camps.
The first 4 episodes were so comfy, we need more victorian/english navy shows like that
An Australian expedition could be neat. The story of Captain Cook is pretty entertaining. I'm surprised The Terror was made at all in this day because of muh colonialism but reality is these fuckers had it hard and paved the fucking way for everything we have today.
>could've just signed up
>always a psycho
Between these two you get the truth. His mind is so unhinged that he doesn't see the simple solution. He just defaults to violence and exploitation because he's inherently paranoid and vicious. Its his nature.
There's a Captain Cook movie already, haven't seen it though
Same I want to buy it for my father i'm sure he'll love it
Daily reminder that if they kept the tuunbaq as it was in the book, it would've been 10 times better
What's the difference.
Daily reminder if we had no fucking tuunbaq and no fucking Hickey, this show would've been and I can't stress this enough, THOUSAND times better.
At least Hickey was fun
>and no fucking Hickey,
THERE'S NOTHING THAT WAAAAAY, MR. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEB
Oh poor souls you need an anime antagonist and magical bears to keep your interest? This show is only masquerading as a serious drama.
Jared Harris was phenomenal though.
>long skinny neck
>short stubby rear legs long front ones
>only walks on the front two
>moves trough the ice by phasing in and out of it
>described as snow carried by the wind when moving around
>spiritual, not a physical being
>the show portrays it as an animal living in the environment thats trying to kill them
>in the book its described as IT being the environment trying to kill them
There's not much drama in trying to kill an invulnerable enemy at least not beyond the point that you realize its invulnerable.
The show's ending kind of disappointed me. The supernatural elements helped earlier on but got in the way the more the show progressed - the bad CGI certainly didn't help. And introducing such a severe internal conflict near the end felt weirdly out of place. I guess showing the remaining crew wither away for three episodes isn't enough spectacle.
Holy fuck, I can't believe I actually remember this but episode 7, 8 or 9 Crozier says something like "they deserve gold" when the guy who ends up with all the chains says something to the effect of "when all this is over these guys deserve a medal" something like that anyway. Personally I just think its a creepy touch
>the bad CGI certainly didn't help
The bear tearing up Hickey and dying was so bad it ruined the episode for me
Honestly, both Hicky and the monster was handled well. I'm grateful that we got all kinds of horror in this package. Those two did not take away from the other types of horror. You guys really need to hit the brakes on the meme buzzword shit. Hickey was hardly an anime character and the monster was handled really well in regards to building suspense and never really showing too much until needed.
TV Tuunbaq is a fucking joke.
Holy shit i started rewatching the terror
>it's just snow gergoth
wew
Man i remember my first DS coming with dawn of sorrow and this fucker gave me more problems than any enemy in the fucking game
Believe it or not i live in a place named after Sir Franklins wife
Here's one
no
I forgot he was in that. It still had decent special effects and cute jailbait though.
bottom, no doubt
f
It was schlock kino.
/ourguy/
AH SAVE ME LADY SILENCE
this show would be better without the tupaaq to be honest
He's up there with Fitzjames and Goodsir
I chuckled
Fuck... This dude
Like, anal takes a lot of work, need lube, not eat much, need to wash after
How did he clean his dick properly? Bet it was covered in shit fucking gross ugh
sex was disgusting throughout the majority of history, it just feels really good so people kept doing it
A daring synthesis
MISTER HICKEEEEYYYYYY
Some replace one of the dogshit recommendations on this with Chernobyl
Read 120 Days of Sodom
One of the main characters has never washed his dick or wiped his ass in his life. He still fucks men, woman and children daily because he's a rich aristocrat.
No one wants to read your biopic faggot
You don't have to be rich to do that.
It's more fucked up then you guys can believe,
The fact is in real life they found someone like that, no-one knows why.
It's a real life mystery that they put in the show
To anyone interested, the real reason behind the Franklin expedition is absolutely fascinating and worthy of a show in its own right. Victorian magnetic GPS.
canadianmysteries.ca
Neat
/ttg/ had the best drawfags
>Fizjames' sweater
w2c?
Cute!
Based Chernobyl giving me a reason to watch the Terror again
What's your favorite shot from the show?
was this the same drawfag as reactorchan?
He had the best fashion sense of the entire crew
This one, for once they were happy
marathoned this show after ep 1 of Chernobyl.
so this guy basically killed everyone right?
They were doomed as soon as their boats got stuck
user, would it help, if I said I made a mistake?
what did he mean by this?
I don't think you understand how remorse works, he still feels like he failed all those men even though the blame wasn't entirely upon him
Franklin was a man who was a great and charismatic leader of his men, but not a good commanding officer.
Probably my favourite character
>Some spirits have never been connected to physical bodies. These are called tuurngait (also tornait, tornat, tornrait, singular tuurngaq, torngak, tornrak, tarngek). Helpful spirits can be called upon in times of need. Some tuurngait are evil, monstrous, and responsible for bad hunts and broken tools. They can possess humans, as recounted in the story of Atanarjuat. An angakkuq with good intentions can use them to heal sickness and find animals to hunt and feed the community. He or she can fight or exorcise bad tuurngait, or they can be held at bay by rituals; However, an angakkuq with harmful intentions can also use tuurngait for their own personal gain, or to attack other people and their tuurngait.
>though once Tuurngaq simply meant "killing spirit", it has, with Christianisation, taken on the meaning of a demon in the Christian belief system
Basically the tuunbaq was an evil spirit possessing a bear. He could be appeased and reasoned with to some extent but with his body dead his spirits been released and can no longer be controlled.
>We'll never get an all-white cast for a show ever again
Last I heard it goes from the internment camp on to the pacific theater so maybe the internment camp is only a small part of it.
Now, how many of them would you fuck/get fucked by?
The only answer is all of them
why is he so attractive to me, a heterosexual male?
>/int/
>/pol/
>naruto running
glad i didnt watch that shit
No, the government fucked them with the food.
Believe it!
^___^ crozier-san you cannot catch me uuuu ~~
and it was his call to keep going for jesus that got them stuck right?
H-hayai...!
What if Tuumbaq was just a regular Polar Bear
but the lead poisoning made it looks like something supernatural?
In the book it is very explicitly supernatural. It's toned down in the show but still does stuff a polar bear couldn't, like arrange corpses in creepy ways and tank cannon shots.
>literally everybody dies of horrible deaths to the creature, exposure, hunger or disease
>only survivor so jaded he doesnt wanna return to civilization
>was it a happy ending
are you rarted user?
alternate history feudal japan where the whole world is japan and magic exists.
I think you know the answer to that question.
same for jews in germany or serbs in austria-hungary.
it honestly makes perfect sense, i dont know why people get so bent out of shape about it. you can't just let a hostile demographic run freely in your country especially during wartime.
man I love winter more than summer mostly because you can really go all out with fashion
coats are just fucking great and when you catch some wind with a proper scarf its aesthetic as fuck
>something that happened in the far off distant past of last year will never happen ever again
>Inuit woman has a lead role, but no its an all white cast
why is /pol/ so retarded
very fast homoshitter running at incredible hihg speed
There has not been a single recorded incident of Japanese Americans spying for Japan.
So we can lock up extreme right wingers and neo nazis since they threaten our democracy? Awesome.
What are you going to do, incel? Hmm?
Victorians really knew how to dress
>Inuit woman has a lead role
congrats on not watching the show man
This
The guy next to Hickey is so fucking hot
thanks u too
That theory would plausible if it was just the crew's viewpoint, but we see from Silna's view that is indeed no ordinary bear (bringing the seal, at the tongue cutting ritual and then the corpse.)
Kek
>Inuit woman has a lead role, but no its an all white cast
Eh... she has a fairly large role, but she's no Mary Sue or a feminist power fantasy like that one in Chernobyl. Thus not really annoying.
actually unironically the best lists I've seen on tv
>try to go AWOL as myself
>get court martial
>go awol as some guy I murdered and took his papers
>they’re looking for that guy, who nobody actually knows me as irl
yeah he'll really blend in with all the people in the arctic
His hands are tied behind his back
>Selling gold
>for it's weight
>in gold
Hmmmmmmm
Top. I got the sense that Hickey was more of a sadist than a homosexual. He got off more on humiliating (and killing and eating) men for his own pleasure.
>Edmure Tully
That’s Marcus Junius Brutus to you, plebeian scum
Why did it even bother with shit like misdirection or being in any way tactical? Was it just to fuck with them? Because if it can tank a canon shot it could probably handle the few dozen bullets that it would take if it just rushed them
the creature was obviously a cave bear they were hallucinating it having a human like face . remember they were all hallucinating by the time the creature first showed up
Mr Jopson is pure
Is there any other series that has this strong feeling of impending doom like The Terror had?
Who wore it better?
What the fuck are you talking about, think about it logically for a moment where would such a behemoth get his food from, why the fuck would he demand tributes from the shaman's living in the igloo's who are giving him their tongues etc
>lead role
u serious
How did that thing die out anyway? It was the fucking superbeing on land.
>"Captain, Mister Hickey tricked us again."
We fucking hunted them into extinction same with North American lion
That's harsh. He probably should of let Crozier try to find a way back with the second ship but the mission itself was doomed and the unpredictability of the pack ice makes it impossible to say if Crozier's mission would have been a success or if dividing the two ships would have just hastened their demise.
In the end man remains the apex predator I guess.
Well not really, the merchants would take a cut. The merchants always take a cut.
same thing bears eat today
>replace one of the dogshit recommendations on this with horseshit
part of the reason another factor was many large prey animals dwindling thanks to humans
Pick a nick baskets?
I want that fur lined coat
That's why I want to fuck him
Raptors #1 bitch ass nigga
Kek I'm reimagining the whole thing as a light comedy about goofy characters and their pranks, with the Captain trying to keep the expedition together and Hickey trolling him
>he thinks the virgin bear can beat the chad walrus
do not
The core strength of this absolute unit, holy shit im in awe
A possessed walrus would actually be a better idea for season 2 of the The Terror than what they went with.
>comrade I tell you there is a walrus on the roof!
>this man is delusional, get him to the infirmary and fire the missile
They're not as fast and the only way it could kill would be by stabbing people with it's tusks or bodyslamming them.
underrated
jesus christ those things are massive
That's what they want you to think.
white virgin looks at the black chad even the animal kingdom has its own version of white boys
What does that make orcas?
Elephant seals are big guys too.
HE'S RUNNING TO PAGE 10 AS A BOY!
>that pic
Americans
MISTER HICKEY I WILL NOT HAVE YOU SAYING THAT WORD ON MY SHIP
Don't flatter yourself burger
what word?
>the polar bear is the only animal in the animal kingdom that challenges humans for the apex predator rank because its the only animal which activily hunts humans to eat them
>meanwhile walruses dont understand cliffs and offten jump off to their deaths
what the fuck did blanky mean by the forks and rope thing? i don't get the joke.
N.. N.. Northwest Passage
another one
another one
He tied himself with the rope which had forks on it, so that when the tuubaq eat him it is damaged from the inside from the forks stabbing his stomach
wrapped himself up in forks to fuck with the bear
what the fuck
walruses are unironically dumb as fuck
That final scene where Hickey is saying how he murdered the actual Hickey and Crozier tells him he could have just joined up was good but I'm honestly not sure why. The pointlessness of the murder of Original Hickey and the fact that they didn't linger on his words and just moved on. I don't know how to explain it? It was great.
Is the terror posting basicaly just blaming Hickey for everything?
I wonder if they're going to use the Purple Heart Battalion? Maybe the camp will be a small part of it and it'll branch out? I don't know what creature they'd do in war-torn Europe, though. Looks like the camp is pretty remote from the previews. Maybe it's not in California?
He literally did nothing right
he wasn't happier. he loved sophia and she loved him. yet he couldn't go back to her because he lost the crew including her uncle that he promised her to look after. so his stay with inuits was a self-exile. he'll probably be fine in time.
It's called a Guernsey sweater. He's wearing a waistcoat over it. Have your grandmother/mom knit you one. I'm going to.
I don't know how anyone can sit through this meme show.
this, though Goodsir's death wrecked Silna's life more.
Based
>Edmure Tully
uncle, sit down.
i can't even do that many sit-ups goddamn but to be fair i get motion sickness doing them it's weird
underrated
yep, pretty much the original Rick Grimes. gets everyone killed and they still love him and follow him.
I just love Terror posting.
after Chernobyl?
