Arrow, Supergirl and the Flash have always been girl shows. Honestly I only know girls who watch the DC shows.

Unfortunately men are quite unprofitable compared to women. Sure there's super fans who buy every bit of merchandise but the average man is a worse consumer than the average woman. On top of this, women provide free advertising in a way better way than guys do. If a guy likes a show he'll maybe talk about it with his friends or make a thread on some backwater forum whereas a woman will potentially take 10 snapchats of each episode and post her emotion-led thoughts on twitter which makes other women feel the need to watch it too. If you have any sense at all you want a female audience. They could have kept GoT aimed towards men and made it last 16 seasons but it's much better economically to sell mother of dragon t-shirts and burn out early then move on to the next show
