I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU RETARDS TRICKED ME INTO WATCHING THIS SHIT

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU RETARDS TRICKED ME INTO WATCHING THIS SHIT
>dude time is a flat circle lmao
LITERALLY CAPESHIT TIER BULLSHIT
also the dialog seemed to be written by an emo teen girl

Attached: arrival-backdrop.jpg (3840x2160, 1.68M)

>what kinda movie you want senpai?
>i've seen the Doctor Who episode Blink and am a fan of Dr Manhattan
>say no more senpai

Villeneuve is a terrible director which gives off the pretense of arthouse simply by comparison to capeshit and other unwatchable amateur trash, but br2049 pandered to the incel crowd so we have all to pretend it was a perfect movie that did not in fact have a completely retarded and senseless capeshit-lite script and we also have to extend that to the rest of his filmography

It's a pro life movie. You wouldn't understand redditor.

>implying reddit doesn't worship this "SCIENCE IS FUCKING AWESOME" movie

Haven't watched that shit but dude time actually is a flat circle lmao

For the wrong reasons

It literally does not have a 'science is fucking awesome' message. What movie did you watch? Every thing you see in this movie is predetermined. There's no science or magic at work. The aliens only came to save themselves by giving humanity the gift of manipulation time and space just like them. The core message of this movie is basically that she decides to carry out her pregnancy knowing full well the child is going to die.

There was a academic researcher who saved the day, some technobabble, and tech gear.
Of course reddit thought it was "science is fucking awesome".

it really is an inconsistent film. If amy adams perceives all of past present and future at once then why do we only see flash-forwards of her kid? we should be seeing all of her life, including all the bullshit at the end

>we see what amy adams see
so is she looking at her self the whole damn movie?

get out of here with that retardation, kid

are you incapable of composing your thoughts without resorting to buzzwords and exaggerations?

In short: have sex.

We literally see the movie through her, including her hallucination of the heptapod inside the room

Arrival is a plot point mental midget repellent.
This thread is the perfect example.

Because she's just only starting to grasp that non linear concept at that point, no control over it at all.

>this is supposed to be a "hard" science fiction film

Attached: snslxjfbgds.jpg (300x250, 16K)

>when i was watching the movie, it was actually amy adams watching the movie and i was in amy adams watching what she watched
how schizo are you?

I absolutely hate the term hard scifi, a film is garbage if it's actually hard scifi. Literally every single great sci-fi film has always been just a vessel to explore the human condition, from 2001 to Blade Runner, the science is just the setting where it takes place in.

Primer is an example of a hard sf film and ofcourse it's garbage because of it. It only focuses on the science and therefore the entire film just becomes a mere puzzle which once you "get" there is nothing else there at all, it's closer to a toy than an actual film.

It was an okay film with above average cinematography. I laugh at people who think it is "deep" or "didactic". Its plot is fairly simple and not even worth a rewatch. At some points it seems like it's trying too hard, and at other times it has downright cringeworthy dialogue. But it is passable. It raises a few questions and then answers them. Male and female protagonists fall in love, blah blah. I don't see why anyone would consider it worthy of discussion desu. Might as well discuss something like star wars

Attached: jdjfmdoff.jpg (366x402, 60K)

I was extremely drunk when I watched it so I don't really remember what happened

Attached: 1558076776659.jpg (1006x802, 309K)

You didn't miss much. i fell asleep halfway through and woke up just before Amy gets visited by Shang. Fairly easy to figure out the plot t b h

>watching Villeneu-hack movies
his best work is Incendies, and the twist was obvious at the very beginning of the movie

the only people that enjoy his movies are soiboys from reddit

The first act of the film was extremely good. The first contact scene was easily one of the best executed first contact scenes in cinema history.
It was an actual experience watching it in cinema, Villeneuve knows how to build and create tension.
The rest of the film was not on par.

Attached: arrival_4.jpg (800x400, 29K)

So Armond White is a soiboy from reddit?

WANNA MAKE A BABY??

Agree

>OMG benevolent superduper advanced tentacle things lowly humans can't comprehend
>OMG flying bean
>Omg strong woman cracked the code

>*Entire movie consists of riding back and forth to that flying bean with constantly amazed faces*

Zzzz

Only redeeming thing about the movie is that the main female character wasn't fucking a nigger

>You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18.

From its cinematography to the actor choices to the plot itself, this whole film is designed to be compared to capeshit. Half the reviews you read will say it is "better/deeper than the average summer superhero flick" and such. From an objective viewpoint it is an average film with great cinematography

>designed to be compared to capeshit
>great cinematography
pick one

How does it feel to have an entire race living in your head rent-free?

>ITT: Yea Forums fags saying this movie sucked but brag about John Wick daily and are excited about upcoming Dwayne Johnson movies.
You faggots really don't like good movies, do you?

Attached: 1559807155513.jpg (523x409, 26K)

>nigger
Kek. Your world must suck, having such a panic over someone not white starring in your movie. I hope you're a boomer nearing death because if you're anything younger, your life is going to become exponentially worse as time goes on.

>literally shoehorning china into the plot's third act for chinkbux
kinda hack-ish desu

Yeah this movie is awful. After I sat through it I then came to the conclusion that movie critics, in addition to having poor taste, are extreme brainlets and I'd never take their opinion seriously again.

>for chinkbux
They are the fucking villain of the film what are you on about

as many of us say - don't let Yea Forums fool you. its an awesome movie and somewhat tragic plus amy adams is amy fucking adams. just watch it. you might like it desu

>abloobloobloo time can only be linear because that's how I experience it
Out of my way socratic fucking shits.

Attached: heraclitus-5.jpg (900x750, 61K)

Dwayne Johnson doesnt pretend to make kino. He makes LITTY flicks for his FANS, not for pansy fun-hating CRITICS. He deosn't feel insecure enoigh to make le deep scifi dramas for redditors

Attached: litty.jpg (554x554, 19K)

good opinion brah. its definitely overrated on the internet

Also reminder that Blade Runner 2049 is unequivocally the worst movie ever made. It’s Stanley Kubrick for impressionable plebs, when in reality it’s filled with nothing but nuanced Zack Snyderisms. It also killed Ryan Gosling’s career.

Gosling was a heavy hitter in the indie scene while also being notorious for turning down big budget films. His casting in Blade Runner 2049 set off a blaze of misguided hype. It would be the stealth Drive sequel with the nu-synth futuristic aesthetics everybody secretly wanted. This is the narrative Denis set forward. The man is good at emulating the groundwork laid out by other directors better than him. He’d hijack the protagonist crafted by Nicolas Winding Refn and screenwriter Hossein Amini and disguise the stolen virtues of that character by portraying K as a “replicant”. The android title lets K borrow the longing tormented stare of The Driver, the random outburst of emotion, and the disgruntled whisper of emotionless dialect. It’s essentially substituting “The Driver Autism” for the “Cold and Distanced Robot”. Gosling’s character could’ve easily been a human with just a few tweaks to the script, but parallels to Drive would’ve undoubtedly been made. If Denis wanted to take a risk and instead birth a motion picture with its own identity he would’ve brought in a different actor, his frequent collaborator Jake Gyllenhaal being a prime candidate. Instead we’re bombarded by “””atmospheric”””” film school core Nightcall sensibilities.

Utter dishonesty, and Dune will inevitably face the same fate, the film already destined for Star Wars prequel levels of public reception with the casting of Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides echoing Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

Granted, I personally enjoy the prequels, but Denis is no George Lucas.

>aliens show up
>nobody can understand them
>except a 30-something womyn
no thanks

lul wat? are you retartded? dwayne johnson is the normie king. hes literally plebbit's most liked actor desu...

>I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU RETARDS TRICKED ME INTO WATCHING THIS SHIT
should have asked me. I would have told you its shit since Yea Forums also tricked me into watching this trash
>DURR IF I LEARN AN ALIEN LANGUAGE I CAN TIME TRAVEL: The Movie

Reminder that this is Review Screw

Attached: twitter reddit literal who videogame crossposter.jpg (1496x894, 617K)

There is no time travel in the film you absolute mental midget

sure is summer up in here

HE’S BACK

Nigger you're an anonymous poster on Yea Forums right now, you saying don't let Yea Forums fool you is you telling me to ignore your advice you dipshit.

YIKES

The alien's language is very impractical and retarded its like a human slicing their arm then making the blood levitate into letters or logograms if you talk in chink runes. While that looks cool its much better to just fucking say what you mean.

triggered by anti-dwayne johnson? fucking kill yourself. faggots like you are the reason his movies continue to spam theaters.

she gives the chinese politician a message from the future. cmon bruh

>LITERALLY CAPESHIT
Why can't any of you retards form a decent argument on anything? All you ever do is use buzzwords and memes.

There is no time travel in Arrival.
Only her perception of time changes where she "remembers" the future just like we remember our past in the form of memories, once she grasps the non linear language she experiences everything simultaneously at the same "time", it's not like she views a youtube video of her future and then continues her life normally, there is no A or B point exactly because it's non linear.

Watch the film again

you don't understand this place one bit

remembering the future is time travel.

>based arrival is literal too smart for Yea Forums

Attached: 1512419061070.jpg (650x1000, 119K)

I unironically enjoy reading your posts even if I think you're completely wrong about BR2049 and that you hate me for it

Just incels upset that the lead character is an intelligent woman with a sense of dignity. Their insecurities won't allow them to like a woman who isn't a hot, trash bucket brainlet.

Time travelling means physically changing places in time.
Are you time travelling when you remember a childhood memory?

Whoa! So much NEGATIVITY fromy such a little man! Stop being a CRITIC and go watch baywatch, BRO. It'll have you PISSING with LAUGHTER! GET LITTY, HATER

Attached: dmduvjgk.jpg (256x256, 11K)

So if you learn this language you can just constantly loop back to the best orgasm you ever had and just relive that over and over again until you die? Seems pretty based.

>strunk womyn is the leader of literally anything
immersion ruined

see

ive been here for 9 years. i no longer understand what this place has become. it used to have decent conversations and cared about good movies. now its a bunch of idiots liking shitty action hero movies and calling every black actor a nigger or hating any lead character whos a woman. Yea Forums is now just /pol/ extended

>intelligent woman with a sense of dignity.
so Arrival is a fantasy, not scifi

It reminded me of The Martian.
>a bunch of lazy 20 year olds, one of which is a lazy nigger, runs NASA

I liked it.

>Time travelling means physically changing places in time.
Says who?
Are you time travelling when you remember a childhood memory?
no, as time is linear. Cause always comes before effect. How are you supposed to remember something that hasn't happened yet? To me that is time travel, the brain still has to follow physical laws.

>not enjoying Arrival and getting LITTY and PISSING yourself to Jumanji
come on step it up

I worked on Baywatch... that movie wasn't funny at all. The crew was cringing at the jokes. Before faggots say I'm lying, I can provide proof I worked on that awful movie.

>imagine staying somewhere that elevates your blood pressure
If you actually had been here that long you'd have started going with the flow by now. There was never good conversation here, go to reddit, stop pretending.

why do brainlets get so angry

>he's a whinefag
shocker

Attached: 1557605484092.jpg (470x350, 40K)

prove it then

You can leave anytime, nigger.

>no, as time is linear.
WOW IT'S ALMOST LIKE THE SCIFI FILM PORTRAYS A NON LINEAR NARRATIVE INSTEAD

It was a completely average flick. Unfortunately redditors decided it was some sort of scifi holy grail and if anyone disagrees they simply say they "don't get it" or they're "brainlets"

>FILM PORTRAYS A NON LINEAR NARRATIVE INSTEAD
Yeah sort of like a time travel film
Its like 2 hours worth of "what if I knew what things happened before they happened then I could tell someone who would stop thing from happening?". It's been covered before and done a lot better, the climax of this film was handing some chinese dude a message.

>time is a flat circle

Attached: 1559796869082.jpg (960x960, 43K)

interstellar was a better time-related movie, and that's saying something

literally who, are you from reddit?

>primer
>garbage
Cringe and pleb-pilled. Think before you post.

meme science is not science, even her linguistic skills are bull and the way she saved the day had nothing to do with her skill. anyone could have done it.

The production office was off of Abercorn in Savannah, GA. We filmed mostly on Tybee Island. The Westin Hotel, and the Thunderbolt Marina. Dwayne Johnson was late every day. Hannibal Buress was there one night at the Westin set, and so was that guy from Home Alone. The asshole redheaded brother whose name I can't remember right now. Zac Efron was alright, just weird. Daddario wasn't quite as hot in person and was kind of snobby. Dwayne Johnson's house in the movie was this huge place on Tybee that looked like a Jurassic Park compound from the outside. Entire departments were fired, like sound, SFX and many people quit. Definitely one of the worst shows I've ever worked on, and I mean that from a production standpoint.

circles are always flat, otherwise they would be called spheres

plot point mental midget detected

>learn language
>get super power
this movie is so fucking bad

She didn't just learn a language, she physically interacted with the ayylmaos and even had sex with them in the floating weightless semen room in the ship

>he says while losing his reddit shit over new marvel capeshit

Attached: correct.gif (422x418, 3.78M)

As far as science fiction goes, it was ok. But because it is slightly better than the usual capeshit ever prevalent in cinema, redditors seem to think it is some sort of overlooked underrated work of genius. When redditors praise this movie, they are in fact, praising themselves and their own perceived "taste" in cinema

>and even had sex with them in the floating weightless semen room in the ship

was this the uncut version?

What the fuck are you talking about? Are you okay? Do you need an adult?

You guys really missed the point if you think it was about time, the aliens, or Amy Adams saving the world. Missed the forest for the trees. No wonder you are so angry.

Villeneuve's worst film, but I blame the writers

Unironically watch star wars if you didn't like this.

>its ACKSHUALLY really deep and meaningful you just don't get it
go write a thesis about it

i agree. see

Replied like a true plot point mental midget.
Go read some more wikipedia synopsis

It's not deep though. Which makes it worse that you don't get it.

>you don't get it
then what's it about?
inb4 communication or fate

fucking this. its plot is almost forgettable and the film is definitely not as good as it is hyped to be

Love. Which is probably why so many people here don't understand it.

The film just shows how if you would know your whole life from start to finish you would find beauty and joy from the smallest bits of moments in days which you may take now for granted (hence her daughter)

So it's about embracing death (instead of denying it like we do) as an essential part of life and appreciating every waking moment of it.

Mother daughter relationship and grief.

The problem is that they used a scifi movie to tell the story, so people were expecting aliens and explosions and pew zooom BOOOOM nreeewww voosh.

I liked it enough for what it was but the retarded part was they were struggling to communicate through language, but they could have skipped the entire process by starting with math.1+1=2 in any language.

>doesn't understand Primer
>calls others mental midgets
Oh the ironing.

>LOVE, TARS LOVE
>TAAAARS xdd

Attached: 1506194417593.jpg (1280x720, 214K)

You still don't get it. Primer is a toy, not a film.
Every brainlet can understand it with a single google search, the point is once you "get" it there's literally nothing else there. An atrocious non use of the visual medium.

>he doesn't find beauty in notion of love conquering all else even physics
tell me how i know you're loveless psychopath

>LOVE TAAARS LOOOOOOOVE
>LOVE IS TEH ANSWER TAAAAAAAAARSSSßS

Movie was good. You're a cuck.

i want to cum inside amy adams sexy little nose

meh, the movie was ok but it definitely wasn't some underrated kino like cucks like to believe

This is going to sound like an insult, but I mean it for your own good. Get help, see a therapist and try to sort through your mommy issues.

AHAHAHA TROLLED,SON.LE TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE XDDD GOT HIIIIIIM

br2049 is an atrocious movie even if you take out the incel bait.

Arrival is in my top 25 movies of all time ngl

Not an issue if you've seen 30 or so in total.

>it used to have decent conversations and cared about good movies.
No it didn't.

I've seen well over 500

Attached: topfiveof2019.jpg (1310x443, 519K)

>capeshit
obvious bait

>haha other people are all psychotic while i'm perfectly well-adjusted
>i'm not like the other anons xp

>has so little to do he's watched over 500 films
>has such shit taste Arrival is in his top 25
holy shit, dude, go read a book

Villenueve is an amazing director but with every movie he's made he has somehow gotten worse.
