The Latina girl was a musician I'm pretty sure, he's a record producer, and I think he was just going through the motions. Him freaking out was because Falcon freaked out, and just because he might have had something planned doesn't mean the reality of it is what he expected.

Both of the leads were just going through the motions in their lives, even before the birthday party. At least that's how it seemed to me.

My complaint with this episode is the same complaint with most Black Mirror episodes, in that the use of technology may as well be superfluous because it rarely has anything to do with the real morals of the story.

Now what is the real moral of this story? It actually has nothing to do with gender identities, homosexuality or sexual fluidity... all that are red herrings. It actually has nothing to do with the dangers of technology or in this case VR either, although its inclusion gives the episode a false sense of depth.

The real moral of the story, is about open marriages and polyamory. It uses everything else to blur the lines but at the end of the day what it's saying is that "sometimes you need to cheat to spice up a marriage, so consider giving your SO a cheat day". I don't feel strongly for or against this message, I just feel it was a dishonest way to go about it, using a forbidden sexual attraction between gaybros. If his gaybro was instead his female best friend, I feel like more people would be up in arms. Women more than men, but vice versa had the genders been switched.

As a khhv with a fetish for nearly everything cheating/married women included, again I don't feel strongly for or against this message. If the message of the story HAD been something to do with the blurred lines between fantasy and reality, that plotline would have been resolved in some way instead of being dropped hard. The symbolism in the episode leans way more toward ideas about blurred reality (often the entire capstone of a Black Mirror episode).
