this one has to be my favorite so far
>thinking the core exploded

karaté DROPPED
i'd let her irradiate my nuts
You are one hot reactor.
she came a long way from such humble beginnings
I remember when HBO would have random female nudity.
How times have changed.
imagine the smell
Rome had random cocks too
>In RBMKs, generation of steam in the coolant water would then in practice create a void, a bubble that does not absorb neutrons; the reduction in moderation by light water is irrelevant, as graphite is still moderating the neutrons. However, the loss of absorption would dramatically alter the balance of neutron production, causing a runaway condition in which more and more neutrons are produced, and their density grows exponentially fast. Such a condition is called apositivevoid coefficient, and the RBMK has the highest positive void coefficient of any commercial reactor ever designed.
Probably just smells like metallic chemicals.
After showing some farm girl getting fucked.
I'm changing my ranking. Ep 1>5, not =5
braap
terrible
Can I get a image of the firefighter with his sweet shades on?
>You're a Chef, so am I

>Not burnt, an explosion
>I'd love to know
>I can't
>Are you stupid?
>No
>Then why can't you?
>I...I..I don't see how it could explode.
>...but it did.
Might seem funny but both explode the same way.
>She will never give you a lapdance while covering this song

she's a big girl
>Great Britain getting a healthy dose of radiation
It all makes sense now.
really all of europe got braaap'd
>RBMK

Like burning graphite.
But imagine tasting her when you go near
>wait for the next day to due the test under proper conditions

is that new?
>mfw balkans get salted on
Yes, except no. The reactor core would have exploded anyway because all of Dyatlov's workers were incompetent and the reactor's design was a shitshow. Any other opinion is wrong and stupid. Now shut the fuck up and crank that reactor up to 15000.
IIRC correctly for whatever reason Poland was the only country in Europe that had enough lugol's iodine for its entire population
Is this from episode 1? I don't remember seeing it.
dyatlov is such a strange person
a man straddling the very fine line between chad and incel, but whose reach eventually exceeded his grasp
The Soviet strategy was to use tactical nukes to get through the Fulda Gap and Poland was the first in line to attack, so they were probably well prepared to handle radiation
I didn't even know Iodine pills were a thing before this show
yeah it's when the firefighters are pouring water in on hodor and the guy that gave hodor a cigarette
>we told sitnikov to go watch the reactor from the roof. he actually did it, the absolute madman!
bros watch the 1-5 edit its good
vimeo.com
you probably have idoine deficenciy
do you have the version of this when they actually start shining?
American salt doesn't have iodine in it?
no is that already a thing?
it does which is why you crave unheathy food
you don't want burger, you want iodine
I've known people like this. Always shaking their heads, never looks you in the eye, lie like crazy and doesn't even feel it.
Just finished watching it. Very nice work, user. Perfectly sliced, no awkward transitions between scenes.
so muh McDonalds has radaway in it?
yeah
I didnt make it but was going to after watching the finale
I'm talking about normal sea salt/table salt. In Europe it's mandatory to add iodine in it
brb getting some iodine
>boom in the shot
the reactor only blew up because of the powerspike rupturing the core, preventing the control rods from fully inserting
yeah it does, the whole point is that salt which is plentiful in junkfood has iodine which is why you crave it
if you'd add single drop or two of iodine in a glass of water and drink it you'd eliminate 99% of your cravings for unhelathy food
Adam Driver and Matt Damon were magnificent in it
seems like a hassle
how did japs clean up fukushinma
was it the same as chernobyl?
if chernobyl 2.0 happend today how would firefighters be equiped? iron man suits?
Why didn't they use cats to push the graphite off the roof?
I don't know about that, I would ask a dietologist first. Too much iodine can seriously fuck up your thyroid
Russians like their kots too much
they didn't basically just throw a reactor in a big gym so it's not like they had radioactive bullshit exploded onto the roof
Fukushima was nowhere near as bad as Chernobyl. Cleanup included landscaping and repaving a bunch of the plant
>was it the same as chernobyl?
No, the core(s) melted but they didn't explode so it was pretty contained
>if chernobyl 2.0 happend today how would firefighters be equiped? iron man suits?
It's pretty impossible to replicate today. But they would probably try to use drones as much as possible and of course good respirators and protective clothes. Most of the time it isn't the gamma radiation that kill you (you would have to be exposed to the core directly), but the alpha and beta rays from radioactive dust that ends in your body
goddamn
now i'm tempted to go pick up some iodine
So what happens if those nuclear powered Nimitz class carriers get sunk, or even their reactors explode?
Or those Russian submarines? Is everyone fucked?
cats are terrible biorobots
on one hand, this sounds like a real redpill
on the other hand, never trust Yea Forums
I'll have to ask my doctor about this
read up on kursk
nah water absorbs radiation like crazy
you can take a swim in a pool that had a reactor at the bottom of it and you wouldn't even get 3.6 roentgens out of it
Nothing happens, the ocean is too big to pollute completely and most of the radiation would be shielded by the water and diluted after some time. The only dangerous part would be around the destroyed carrier/sub
there have been a number of nuclear submarines lost at sea, so no
when the control rods gunning catch me running
>no image of her braaaaping all over the continent
Everyone call this guy a retard:
somebody change it to
>roof sweeping operations
he's right, only 31 people are confirmed to have died
no continental braps yet but some quality stuff on here twitter.com
does anyone have the roof liquidator single take from episode 4?
Is that why the Japs live so long?
can anyone explain the caps jumping?
i can only think
a) steam escaping from broken channels in core
b) whole containment is vibrating from pressure
either way i would expect more violent and spread movements and in the case of a) certainly steam escaping visually.
fyi table clapping isn't a thing in russia, this is a little inaccuracy
I think that the steam pressure wasn't equal in the whole core. It probably formed "bubbles" of unequal pressure and void space as it fucked itself
How the hell did the USSR ever manage to last so long being so fucked up?
>*throws binder in your face*
interesting position however a mans reach should always exceed his grasp, without this he has no purpose.
it's not necessarily a "thing" anywhere. The point of the scene is that he just goes hard in the active cheerleading to keep the dissenting voice from being able to speak up.
>d&d ran chernobyl
it all makes sense now
This is the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever read.
it's a thing in the US at least as i heard. Hitting the table is just a weird gesture, just clapping would do as well in this scene
>soviets take a six thousand prisoners and dump them on an island in the middle of siberia
>give them almost nothing and tell them to start a colony
>goes to absolute shit
>within three months, four thousand of them are dead
>starvation, disease, cannibalism, rape and murder everywhere
would the Nazino Affair work for season two?
do you have the one where Ricardo is looking at the exposed core?
>i will never find my self nude and horny among bunch of horny filthy coal miners to abuse me
once again, the crane doesnt break until after the debris hits the crane, the helicopter is wrongly depicted as getting destroyed by the radiation
I first heard about that after fukishima. How did you miss that? News wouldn't stop talking about it.
table slapping is pretty weird anywhere. It's definitely not any kind of thing that Americans do. Like that's not a custom or tradition at all. If anything I think of like fucking vikings or something. Pretty sure in pretty much every culture, table slapping is an extreme thing to do. Boils down more to the type of person than where they are. Our boy Bryukhanov just hits tables.
thanks user!
Does anyone have the pic with the liquidator having fallen down on the roof and in the top right it says RADS: 12000 like in Fallout
>it's a thing in the US at least as i heard
no it isn't
does anyone have the picture (not the gif) of ricardo looking into the core from the roof?
yeah this is my favorite
Why are they naked? Because it's HBO and they can?
It was a power move.
Are you missing the outer 1/3 of your eyebrows? If not then you're likely fine.
This reads like a troll trying to get gullible /pol/acks to shut down their thyroid due to the Wolff-Chaikoff effect
What would have happened if he refused to look?
this scene was so cringe
Should I splurge and buy it, lads?
youtube.com
Oh fuck are there more of these? They're fucking hilarious
trolling or blind?
Does anyone have the link of the linear edit of episode 5 to 1?
>dude eat more
"no way fag"
"I must do research on this" helper.jpg
"stupidest thing I've ever read"
so are we all happy to see the final yellow pump boy shot? I know I am.
I remember my country started putting iodine in table salt in the 90's, there were lots of people that thought they wanted to poison us. I don't think my cravings for junk food have changed at all.
RT did an interview with General Tarakanov
youtube.com
how do they normally remove the control rods? is it automated or something
>2010+9
>still no dyatlov kino
AAAAAHH
>vimeo.com
Thank you.
is it possible dyatlov honestly didn't know about the graphite tipped control rods?
yeah I'd assume that time and immidiate social pressures kind of kept him from really having much time to think critically about the options. Like he was basically looking at his career being ruined, maybe being arrested, labor camp, etc. Maybe getting shot but by the 80s probably not.
wasn't that part taken out of the manual/report thing?
As I understand, he never did look. The door was locked and there was no escort.
based franco keeping the commie and the radioactive cloud at bay
Whoa I never realized you could see the core in the bottom left shot.
mon dieu
yes but with 25 years of experience it seems likely that he would have heard via word of mouth about the fatal flaw
He didn't know. That's still not an excuse for recklessly pushing the reactor to the point where the emergency measures had to be used.
He knew about there being graphite on the control rods, he didn't know about full insertion and uninsertion acting as a reaction catalyst. That was kept a state secret.
no he knew about that he. He didn't really know that when you take them all the way out, then hit AZ-5 that it puts them back in real quick and turns into a bomb.
Like he did a lot of dumb shit, but he did it assuming there was always the fail safe. But then the fail safe was the trigger.
>word of mouth
from who exactly? it's not like Fomin or Bryukhanov knew either
meant for
Watching Chernobyl made me really really depressed. Not about what happened but just the realization that I've done absolutely nothing important in my life
It's not a cultural thing dumb slav. It was just to make noise and hype up the room so people couldn't figure out they fucked up.
Isdgi
Until HBO stops with the random nudity and sex scenes, I can't watch this shit with anyone. It's too awkward for me.
youtube.com
does the Dyatlov Pass Case have anything to do with Analoty Dyatlov? i mean some of the diseased were nuclear workers.
autism
Wouldn't they have noticed that lowering rods causes an energy spike before fully lowering? Even without AZ-5
because hbo has a mandate to have male nudity in every show
no this dyatlov was the leader of the expedition
Britain barely got anything though, most of it fell in Austria and southern Germany (besides Belarus and Ukraine ofc)
They did but since all the other fail-safes were in place it wasn't reported as dangerous
Jesus Christ I feel so bad for these two.
That's also a fascinating story.
I've recently been fascinated by the story of Jon Franklin's expedition. There's a series based on it called the Terror with the same main actor from Chernobyl. It's good.
>mic too far away
>wagie moves it
>don't bother re shooting the scene
BRAVO HBO
What did each of the colors mean? I know the pure silver color blocks are the actual fuel rods and the colored ones are either fuel rods with density probes or control rods, but I dont know what the difference between like, red and yellow, or yellow/green and blue, for instance
ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS NOT PRESS THE AZ-5 BUTTON CJ
why? because they were pussies who didnt stand up to dyatlov and say "no comrade, this is unsafe and we refuse to allow this reactor to operate under untested, unsafe and out of spec conditions" they killed 4000+ people. they are the real monsters in this story
What are you on about? Spain and Portugal are the ones to actually go untoched.
Toptkunov was terrified poor guy
Responsibility lies on their shoulders as well
thanks user but assuming i haven't already marathoned The Terror multiple times, is a little insulting desu
cuckolds and spineless cowards are the real enemy, they're the ones that give morons like dyatlov any power
yes they were to blame, but that doesn't mean you still can't feel sympathy for what happened and what they did, both before and after. most people wouldn't have stood up to Dyatlov in their position, that goes for most of us in this thread.
>implying you basedbois would have said no to Dyatlov
They differentiate between the different sensors inserted into the core so the control room can see the status inside.
youre so weak youd submit your asshole to dyatlov if he asked for it
Here is a VERY good write up with many unseen pictures on the event. It is written and put together by the author of "Chernobyl 01:23:40"
Can someone explain the pumps meme?
Spain and portugal aren't necessarily part of "europe." They have a natural barrier at the neck of hispania with the Cantabrian mountains, that guides the slavic fart winds away from themselves. They were never REALLY in that big of danger because of that.
But Sweden was the first people that realized something was fucky. EVERYONE around Denmark got assblasted by braps. But because of lucky winds and the fact that Denmark some weird islands in a cold swamp, they kind of miraculously managed to go unscathed while EVERYONE ELSE got baby cancer.
if the fuel and control rods were inside channels made out of graphite that were seemingly very close together, where did the water go? Did it run through the channels inbetween the rods and the graphite or was there space between the graphite? I can't find a diagram showing the actual breakdown of what the internal core was arranged like, every picture is just "core here"
we danes have a habbit of dodging bullets,
>5 naked men digging below the core
>10 naked men digging below the core
>50 naked men digging below the core
That doesn't explain :(
Watch the show, only recognizable thing in the rubble after explosion is 3 yellow cylinders, nobody knew wtf they were turns out they were pumps
this guy doesn't even big yellow pump boys
Oh ok, I wasn't here during the first threads so I didn't know they were a mistery
The channels are made of zirconium I think
After a few episodes we started noticing them and realized they were the same pumps in every shot, so an user made a collage of the big yellow pump boys in their memory.
So in this section, the upper area of rods would be the biological shield, the blocks in the middle are the graphite blocks with the rods inserted, and the water would fill the voids around and inbetween them? And presumably the bottom rods are the lower biological shield
>All theses reactions videos poping up on YT now that the show got acclaim
how do they get the fuel in and out?
Look up e.g. how it's made uranium fuel rods, fuel is lots of rods like a honeycomb shape with space between for water to flow. Graphite around the outside of each pack.
fuck, requesting the entombed Khodemchuk yellow pump boy room picture with the red writing on the tank again
Fuel boi (14)
It just became a thing after where people started keeping track of them in every episode. They were used as framing devices and set pieces and played in the background in a bunch of shots, so they kind of became their own weird meme idk.
Doesn't feel right.
removed the cap on top and stuck a hook in. There is a large crane assembly in the reactor room that lowers a hook down that can lift the rod up and out, then carry it over to the spent fuel pool next to it
Are you blind or just stupid? That scene was kino.
it does feel like there's another wave of people that are just now marathoning the show because everyone is circlejerking about it.
>acting like everyone hasn't seen the Terror
Lurk more user
>people aren't allowed to like or enjoy the same things i do
is the bridge of death in a STALKER game?
Khrushchev used to bang the table with his shoes
its already been 3 days since the last episode aired
thank you comrade, gets me every time
Monday can't come soon enough
I actually meant that as a positive. New poindexters being interested and filtering in keeps the generals alive for longer.
bad news man
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
I wonder, how many of you are oldfag enough to have been in the first Chernobyl threads. We all call it /RBMK/ of course, but what were the names before?
how did dyatlov survive so much longer than all the other engineers?
she's so fine. here she is in real life
because he left to go into the bunker and discuss things with the higher ups. everyone else stayed in the plant
He stayed in the safe control room and only got a low dose walking in the corridor with the windows (near the burning concrete)
he was in denial about his radiation sickness
good stuff indeed
Radiation is like placebo. You have to believe for it to work.
god I would love to see her slob a knob
look at this face. this is the face of a man on the verge of tears from the enormous responsibility lifted from his shoulders.
He was on the toilet when it happened
Because the fictionalised version of events is bullshit, the operators were all outside walking around with the graphite.
Did America actually have anything at the time that could have dealt with the radiation that was too much for the german police robot?
Do u guys taste metal?
Hands up if all you can think of him is playing a tranny in nick helms show about the little boy
i doubt any country did at the time.
yes
Iceland dont gaf
pretty much any robot can handle 3.6 roentgen
red caviar tastes better, don't fall for the more pricey meme one
Hey Vincent, shoot those fucking puppies.
for me
not as funny as the one earlier
t. Minister of coal
Khodemchuk will stay together with core-chan for all eternity now.
>Midnight in Chernobyl
>Voices
>Chernobyl 01: 23:40
Should I read those? Which order
reminds me of cookie monster
DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT
Hol up, you really be saying there be graphite on the ground? You dumbass nigga.
Why didn't they hang a big net from a helicopter and drag the shit off the roof. Or put a really big broom on the front of the robot so it's far away.
Loads of solutions.
Yes but we would never give it to the Soviets.
SoC then CoP. Skip CS.
why don't they just turn off the atoms?
>Radiation ain't nothin to mess with
>Slavs thinking of any solution other then dying for glorious mother Russia
didnt see that lmao
is that actually Bacho guy? What is that?
>tfw you really wuz commies and sheit
A Way Out, co-op game that his brother made, he's one of the two characters you play as. His brother was the based "FUCK THE OSCARS" guy at the VGA's.
I see myself in Dytalov when I used to work a night shift in the hospital's IT department and was running stress tests and emergency back ups for the digital files.
goodnight chernobros. Someone else needs to make a new thread if they want
im reading midnight in chernobyl now. its gud
Any good musical kino like that?
I read the prologue yesterday at night and holy fuck, what a scary/amazing way to start the book. Thought of reading 01:23:40 first because I remember someone saying that the show was based more on this one plus it looks short
You're an idiot. They'd have been killed if they didnt do as he said.
they did what he said and got killed anyway, only they took 4000 innocent lives with them
just busted a nut to corechan can someone hurry up and draw her feet or some shit before these threads die forever
Am I a brainlet if I got mildly confused during the MC’s demonstration of the why the reactor failed in the final ep?
You will refer to him as Jared Harris, Hot Buns or Mr. Harris. Nothing less.
INTERCONTINENTAL RADIOACTIVE BRAPS PLEASE
Shut the fuck up us footfags have been waiting longer
Nah
drawfag said he was done and i don't think Mental Crash ever drew any Core chan
I feel kinda nervous after I learned that Russia still have 10 working reactors of this type.
Why you even need nuclear energy when you have largest amount of oil and gas on Earth?
Cant believe im saying this but her boobs are ridiculous too big
take it easy paintfag(?)
>The Soviets kind of forgot about the control rods
I imagine that "ehh" look that Larry David gives a lot in Curb your Enthusiasm.
yeah but
seems new
Is that the fucking book but with images?
i respect your desire footfag but i need that metallic face reddening brap right on my fucking face
Nothing special about it. Read about Fukushima. When someone submitted report that tsunami can possibly fuck up the station it was just ignore.
Reactor gets hot for energy
Reactor make Iodine/Xenon isotope
Iodine/Xenon make reactor cold
Energy go down
Need more energy
Remove rod for hot and more energy
Rod make nuclear fuel not too hot
But now no rod
Reactor get too hot
Water turns to steam
Steam expands
Not enough space for steam
Walls break
Everything breaks
Graphite is so hot it touches oxygen and catches fire
Fire makes smoke
Smoke spreads bad atoms around
People die
>but the janitors are not paid
fucking lost it
why was it called a biological shield? did it contain biological material or that it shielded the biological things outside the reactor?
Because nuclear energy is infinitely more efficient, lasting, and clean than fossil fuels or any other fuel source really. May as well ask why 70% of France's energy comes from nuclear. The real problem is merely the danger of the RBMK design itself.
not really. just the basic gist of what all went down with some rare photos. definitely worth a look
what do we do with the spend fuel rods when we decide it was a bad idea to bury them under mountains?
The latter.
It blocks the radiation from the core allowing people to walk around in the room above it
This. Dyatlov wasn't in the building, literally all of them left almost immediately to observe the damage from the outside.
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive could very easily be taken to be about Chernobyl.
okay, now this is fucking epic
well right now most are stored on site in temporary storage. i think sweden or someone has actually started building permanent storage for spent fuel. i saw a youtube video on it recently or something.
They can be reprocessed into more fuel
>At high doses, radiation will change the very fabric of your DNA, turning you quite literally into a person other than the one you were before. And then you’ll die, in agony.
Gnarly
It's to prevent the reactor workers from developing super powers
>mfw Putin got so buttblasted about the show that he makes a show in direct response using tax payer dollars
Lol
I can't be the only one who teared up at this scene, right?
i wept like a child not gonna lie
If you were in the control room when the explosion happened, and you just started running away from the plant as fast as you could, would you reduce your radiation exposure enough to live?
I mean you'd probably still get shot for deserting your post but?
Yup drank a shot of vodka after that conversation
currently we store fast reactor rods underground.
can only imagine if its a success what will happen with normal power plant rods.
Probably, Dyatlov was in there for like an hour and he survived, he did get a 50/50 fatal dose though
...
Holy kek
> Believing the official soviet numbers
> Nuclear power plant built literally on the coast in the ring of fire.
> Ryuuuuuu! A tsunami might fuck-a dis up a
Real hot take user
what are they saying
It's in this thread already nigger
the picture you fag
>cunny meme
stop with the boomer jokes
Make a wish and maybe the monolith will visit you in two weeks when your skin has peeled off and your brains have melted away
nothing that uses electronics can withstand that radiation, unless it has so much shielding that it would make the roof collapse, and make radio communications impossible (for remote control).
