If it's overpraised by Redditors. Examples include The Dark Knight, Fight Club and Tarantino's entire filmography .

Writing that is trying way too hard to create internet memes.

that must mean dark phoenix was kino because it was shit

A lot of Reddit movies fall in line with the "popular cult classic" stereotype. A movie that's generally regarded as good or great, has a bit of mainstream appeal, but is also edgy, pseudo-philosophical and "cool". Think Pulp Fiction or Fight Club. It's like saying Fallout: New Vegas is your favorite video game or Breaking Bad is your favorite TV show. By trying not to be a stereotype you've ironically fallen headfirst into being a stereotype.

When there's unwarranted praise for a mediocre movie. Normie web, reddit being a part of it, likes to overhype absolutely everything. That's a clear telltale of when something is reddit. Unlike other normie media platforms, namely instagram and twitter, you can't really have discussion chains that can extend to hundreds of posts at best. On reddit that is possible, the same people can use some silly username in attempt to appear smart online.

Baby Driver is a good example of a reddit movie. The movie itself was not bad, it was entertaining, but at the same time it didn't provoke that sense of rewatchability. At least I'm not going to rewatch it, because it was just a passable flick. But because it's a little different to your cash cow action films, and many of those painfully self-unaware young men see the main character in them, it gets proclaimed great and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon to get some karma or some other stupid arbitrary social points. Everyone in a large network does it and it stands out, but for the people here, who at least have a little more self-awareness and ability to think for themselves, the praise seems unwarranted. Because it is.

Dumb illogical bullshit to explain away a plothole
>How did you do that?
