The prequels are unnecessary and somewhat shit. Inviting sequels to RotJ was a similar mistake, even if Lucas himself isn't the one that actually produced or directed them. I don't hold any ill-will toward him, though, and I think the various attempts to downplay how significant he was to what made the original trilogy good are stupid.
