Dday was pretty much a walk in the park for the allies, I hate how much is distorted in films. Most of the germans guarding those positions were inexperienced conscripts, badly supplied and equipped, who had to endure a bombing campaign before facing the enemy. Check how many troops did the allied have on that day and how many actually died, even the average Yea Forums user would have survived the operation.
