Why does CGI look so awful now.

what planet is the one on the right from?
They figured out people will see the movies even if they put minimal effort in. Probaby Avatar's fault. Sup par cgi but the movie made a gorillion dollars.
It is the movie instead of enhancing the movie
also heheh a certain tribe of semitic people *taps my nose*
planet of the apes
Planet of the apes
It is now cheaper to throw together cheap, but somewhat half-way decent looking effects instead of paying to write a good script or hire talented actors.
they outsource it to chinks, only AAA productions use domestic studios
LENT FLEE
lol Hems arm is totally straight and the gun still points upwards.
that's not really living rent free, retard. that's an actual answer to the question
Avatar has brilliant CGI. Avatar is one of the very few movies with amazing CGI.
Outsourced to pajeets or vietgooks I guess
hes angling it with the trigger hand the left hand is just there for recoil control
Even then, ILM and Weta will choose certain movies to actually work on and outsource the majority of the scenes to other studios. It's why VFX can be so drastically different scene to scene.
jesus fucking christ
This can be handwaved away by saying it's alien tech and there's no recoil or some such bullshit and he's just casually angling it upward with his thumb
The point is there's plenty to tear into this pile of shit for, don't get caught in semantics
cgi doesn't look so awful now its just cheaply made and being used for the wrong purposes jurassic park and incredible hulk 70-2003 are good examples of it in jurassic world cgi was only used to show things that simply couldn't be done practically a dinosaur ripping a taxi apart can't be done on a realistic budget. But using cgi it can be and with a mix of puppetry and cgi it looks tasteful and good. The hulk a 8 foot tall green man can't be done realistically and any attempts to resulted in painting lou ferrigno green (yes he's still alive by the way.) But using a cgi figure that actually affects the world by really having things move (ie when hulk kicks a couch through a wall the hulk is fully cgi while the wall and couch actually goes flying) makes the cgi feel realer than it would if it was just a cgi couch and wall being destroyed by a cgi monster. That's why in the same movie a fight between cgi characters seem fake while a man that isn't there kicking something seems real. Another way to portray cgi is to layer it over and actual stunt man to make it seem like its really there in the environment which is why smeagol looks as real as he does cgi affecting a real thing without a stunt being there looks fake cgi on cgi looks fake and cgi to simulate a world looks fake cgi is there to complement not to create.
the best way to handle cgi in OP's picture would be to have the actors carry a replica of their guns and simulate recoil on their own and then add the gloss and colored glow of the energy to the prop not just have your actors hold their arms out and just put something in their hands in post
So many movies use CGI that American visual effects studios can't do all of them so they end up outsourcing to India and China
Special effects team usually have women/diversity quotas.
All cgi is outsourced in shitholes countries like South Korea, India and China.
