So an user posted a mega link to the Sharpe series last week and I rewatched them
Good shit
This is a Sharpe thread
I'm going to post some pics and summaries of the "episodes" and maybe a few webms as well
Sharpe's Rifles
Other urls found in this thread:
youtube.com
en.wikipedia.org
twitter.com
Meant to capture this amazing stunt from Sharpe's Regiment
Blowing the bridge from Sharpe's Eagle
this image also struck me while rewatching
Each episode is a full length movie.
Here's my ratings for each one:
1 Sharpe's Rifles (the one where Sharpe wins over his men) 8/10
2 Sharpe's Eagle (winning the eagle at Talivera) 9/10
3 Sharpe's Company (The first one with Pete Postalthwaite) 9/10
4 Sharpe's Enemy (The one with Pete Postalthwaite and Liz Hurley) 10/10
5 Sharpe's Honor (the one with the duels) 5/10
6 Sharpe's Gold (the one with the Aztecs) 7/10
7 Sharpe's Battle (the Oirish one with the Loup) 8/10
8 Sharpe's Sword (the one where Sharpe fucks the mental girl) 6/10
9 Sharpe's Regiment (the one where Sharpe goes undercover to find the missing regiment) 7/10
10 Sharpe's Siege (the one with the quinine) 9/10
11 Sharpe's Mission (the one with pic related) 9/10
12 Sharpe's Revenge (the one where Sharpe gets cucked) 7/10
13 Sharpe's Justice (the cucking continues) 6/10
14 Sharpe's Waterloo (the one with Jarvis and Boney) 8/10
Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe from Sharpe's Rifles (1993)
Bean would have been 31 or 32 at this point
Brian Cox as Major Hogan in Sharpe's Eagle (1993)
This would be 2nd and last time Cox would appear in the series as "the filming conditions in the Ukraine were poor." Cox would go on to appear in many films including X2 and Troy
Wish I could find the version of "Over the Hills" from the show. Everything on Youtube is the studio version.
Crazy how this show could make you wistful for a life never lived.
I loved how he was fond of teaching Sharpe, protecting him and sassing everyone.

Do you still have the link?
found it user
mega nz/#F!ygUBGRIY!Vo1b4w6eXG2OIXqVL0i8ZQ
I am also asking for the mega
Pete Postalthwaite as Obadiah Hakeswill in Sharpe's Company (1994)
"Ive seen your wife's tits, Clayton. I mean to lay my hands on those teats. Make no bones I will."
"Be warned, when Obidiah's up he's up like an animal!"
Postalthwaite would go on to great fame in such films as Jurassic Park 2, The Usual Suspects and Inception
Thanks
I've read a book by the author of the Sharpe's rifles books, the one about King Arthur, it was pretty good, I need to give this a watch.
Liz Hurley in Sharpe's Enemy (1994)
She would have been 28 or 29 at this point
Hurley would go on to star in such movies as Austin Powers and... err
She also famously slept naked with her son
Great thread. This is really good stuff.
glad there's a thread on this thanks op
i was always aware of it growing up but i've only recently been thinking about watching it, i think i'm gonna it looks comfy
I personally think Sharpe's Honor (1994) is the worst in the series. There aren't even any notable guest appearances, so here's a webm of Sharpe fucking up some nuns
No sharpes gold is atrocious
lmao you're right but I liked the silly mix of Aztecs in spain. The I also thought the villain was memorable and there was also pic related
>mfw when someone mentions Corunna
Oliver Cotton as Loup in Sharpe's Battle (1995)
In addition to playing a very memorable villain, Cotton would go on to feature in such movies as... the Dark Knight Rises
It's bad because it's based on nothing they had already used most of the gold plot in honour, so they just made a bunch of shit up
One thing that disappointed me about the series is they never did Wellington's secret forts, but I guess the budget wouldn't allow it
I forgot that a fairly young Daniel Craig made an appearance in Sharpe's Eagle (1994)
Can't find a good shot of him as he has no closeups and is difficult to recognize
He would have been about 25 at the time
Of course he would go on to great acclaim in Cowboys & Aliens (2011)
Director Julain Fellowes had a memorable role in Sharpe's Regiment (1996) as the fat and not entirely sane Prince Regent George IV (son of the certifiably insane George III).
He would go on to great success directing Gosford Park and creating the series Downton Abbey
the zerg rush at the end of Sharpe's Siege (1996)
i just couldn't get into sharpe because the production value was so shit and cheesy
Sharpe's Justice (1997) features future Life on Mars star Philip Glenister
It also touches upon themes explored more fully in the 2018 Mike Leigh movie Peterloo, that is, veterans of the Napoleonic wars being used to fight labor disputes on English territory
Sharpe's Waterloo (1997) features a young Paul Bettany as Prince William of Orange. He would be approximately 25 or 26 at the time
Bettany would go on to star as Jarvis and Vision in numerous capeshit and would be cucked by his wife Jennifer Connely by a black man
it's as good as you're going to get for a 90s Irish/English production
I think the real reasons to watch are things like historical interest, adventure, the great guest appearances and just fun
Never seen this before, looks right up my alley. Thanks for the clips, Sean Bean and Brian Cox are top tier
I hope this doesn't spoil too bad, but I couldn't leave out perhaps the greatest ending to a series in television history
there would be two follow ups to the 90s series, Sharpe's Challenge (2006) and Sharpe's Peril (2008)
I suppose they're notable because Bean was a somewhat major star at this point, having done his defining role in Lord of the Rings.
I have not yet seen them however
their...ok they rank lower then every other episode though, except gold thats still the worst
lel. thanks user
I'm OP and I think i'm basically done doing what I wanted to do
thanks to the user that posted the mega. Had seen the show like 10 years ago but didn't watch so closely. Was great fun to go and rewatch it all. One of the best shows i've ever seen.
If anyone has any suggestions for scenes that could be webm'd just let me know but I think I'm done posting for the night
now. Does anyone have a mega of the Hornblower series lmao?
the entire series of hornblower is on youtube in hq
thanks user
While looking at the Hornblower wiki I notice it was also produced by ITV, like Sharpe
they have some track record
I'd like to rewatch a few more of their series like Reilly, Ace of Spies
Any more great ITV series out there?
always liked the avengers but its spy not historical
Cornwell is historical fiction GOAT
I will say if you like sharpe its worth checking out the two recent movies just for more Sharpe and Harper being bros
agreed
Great effort OP, never watched. So the barrier of entry is low for the series and eps?
Loved the books and watched the show as a kid but fuck me does the electric guitar just kill the series.
not OP but just watch rifles if you like it theirs a lot more, if your not hooked by sharpes eagle ( the best episode) then its not for you
Just watch them in order. they're movie length as well
Can't hurt to have some historical interest but that only enhances it's not necessary
She also fucked Bill Clinton and stalked him until she was paid off
Also if anybody likes this stuff The Last Kingdom is also based on a Cornwell series.
lmao yeah that guitar is dated as fuck
Is this the girl from Jeopardy!? Uncanny
I'll get to it apparently the first season kinda sucks tho
Oh hey user, want to go on a wonderful adventure to the Peninsula?
some user earlier in the thread was asking for the song
youtube.com
Cool. So the format is sorta like Zatoichi. I'll watch in order. Cheers
>baker-chan
How do you do, fellow Weebs
What was his problem?
Stupidity
Thought this was about the gun.
en.wikipedia.org
>Cartridge .52-caliber 475-grain projectile with 50-grain (3.2 g) cartridge, later converted to .45-70 Government in 1873.
disappointing.
Keep getting honor-cucked by Wellington's charity case. Also, holy shit, the bobs on Jane.
I always felt, aside from Morse, itv didn't produce good dramas. Maybe I missed out on some good stuff.
they only mention it sometimes in the series but one of the things I find most interesting is that Sharpe's Chosen Men carry true Rifles, as opposed to the muskets carried by regular troops
With their more accurate rifled barrels and more plain uniforms, you can see in Sharpe and his men the way in which warfare is changing over time. Sharpe's outfits even take on a camouflage look in the later episodes.
they were real more or less, wellingtons elite scouts/snipers
Sharpe looks pretty sharp in that uniform.
Holy shit that was lucky.
Yeah, skirmirshers with rifles or rifled muskets was a thing at the time.
holy fuck
Been meaning to check this out for a long time, thanks for reminding me to OP.
