I don't get the hate. Thought it was really fun and the set/world design was great

They were all pretty god tier. Bob Hoskins, obviously, but also Leguizamo. Koopa Cousins were good, not really Yea Forums but fun characters.
It's clearly not even vidya related but given a vague outline of the mario story you can sort of work back to having Dennis Hopper being a weird corporate lizard tyrant. He nailed whatever the fuck they had him doing.

the people behind this movie was an insane power hungry couple that treated the crew like shit and were complete pieces of shit.

I found it mindblowing when it came out. It's like looking at an alternate realitys version of Mario Bros.

Pretty much this. They had no interest in making a Mario movie, not to mention the fact that they were in way over their heads when it came to making a big commercial picture. It's amazing it turned out as good as it did, which isn't very.

I first watched this on my PS2 DVD player, and it had to install some weird software before it could be played. I'd never seen that happen with a DVD on a PS2. Anyhow else have this happen?

Film makers were apparently incompetant and fused their unsold dystopian cyberpunk script with mario bros. and because of lax safety, everyone in the goomba matress scene almost got decapitated

I fucking loved this as a kid. I had no idea that people thought it was shit until recently.

It's not great by any stretch of the imagination but its stupid premise and the inventive sets/costumes stopped it from sinking into obscurity.

The guy that spearheads the community found a bootleg VHS tape with the film's deleted scenes in, I remember defending this movie back when it was cool to hate it so now it's finally time to get some closure, whenever that happens.

Bowser was my favorite character and they they changed him into something wholly unrecognizable.
