I love Star Trek but I hate Seth's style comedy. Never have I had such love/hate conflict with a show as I have with Orville. The scifi aspects of the show pay honorable homage to the best of trek but the fucking toulet humor makes me want to stab myself in the balls.
Tbh, his humor is a lot toned down compared to his shitty cartoons. I tolerate it, surprisingly. The cigarette episode had me in stitches, though.
Luis Cook
He didn't even want to do a comedy, they made him. As it goes on the comedy is toned down
Tyler Stewart
I liked The Orville. It is a lot more toned down than his retarded cartoons. You crave actual Star Trek and you’re not getting that from Discovery, so you have to get it from somewhere else. He’s just playing TNG and who doesn’t want to play TNG?
Liam Kelly
i agree I like the aesthetics of the show and if it was more serious I would love the show, however with the seth macfarlane style comedy its borderline unwatchable its a real shame and another missed opportunity in television at least we have the expanse
Hudson Butler
Season 2 was so fucking bad.
Christopher Baker
I like Star Trek quite a bit, but I dislike MacFarlane enough that I'll never bother with his space show.
Connor Edwards
Seth's comedy is great, it shows how badly Star Trek has a stick up its ass
Daniel Nguyen
Oh I'm not saying all the comedy is trash. Some of it is good. Most of it is trash though. Especially any comedy involving that idiot pilot. That episode when they went undercover as Krylle is pretty excruciating.
Joshua Torres
the season finale where it’s an alternate timeline and the kalon won was utter garbage. But at least the ultimate space cutie Alara was back for a scene
Jackson Sanchez
Why are you always crying and bitching?
Andrew Wright
I actually enjoyed The Orville to a certain point, but man, even if I kinda like Seth, he certainly has some big issues with women. most of the episodes of season 2 are about relationships. relationship episodes should be sprinkled very sporadically over the series, but not like this. the focus is not where it should be...
Well I get enjoyment out of it but...that humor man.
John James
Sorry user. Some of have lives and cant watch every show we want right when it comes out.
Bentley Young
What? The 2 parter finale was great. The second episode was a wild space adventure we've only seen in star wars. It showed that the Orville can do all sorts of crazy stuff and doesn't necessarily need to conform to Star Trek. With a lot of character drama out of the way, I have high hopes for season 3.
Gabriel Hughes
Why are you always so triggered by siffering opinions?
Ethan Nelson
You really think those character dramas aren't going to be replaced by new ones?
Austin Thompson
Why are you a faggot?
Elijah Thomas
If season 3 is going to be a repeat of season 2 in terms of character drama, I'll stop watching. They've explored both styles nows. Season 1 was high adventure. Season 2 was high drama. Season 3 could be a bit of both.
Jeremiah Barnes
Isaac is best
Asher Butler
Because dick is delicious and women play too many childish games?
Just expressing what I dislike about a good show user.
Gabriel Cruz
Sad truth is that it just makes me wish there was more TNG.
Orville kinda toes the line but then takes some questionable decisions where it's too much of a stretch for me to believe or they take hard stances with morals.
Nitpicky but I felt like: A LOT of the relationship dilemmas of S2 were a slog to get through. I struggle to accept Isaacs' sense of logic and his relationship with the doc. The formed alliance with the highly religious zealots Krill was surprisingly simple. Bortus has been pretty good but there was just this period of time where it was just felt like Moclan overload.
Mason Morris
There wasn't much humour in the 2nd season.
Carter Smith
I liked that it looked like they were fucking up, shit crew shit captain and the universe was getting fucked up because of them, kalon or whatever going on killing people because they failed, but nope, its all fixed :)
Thomas White
>fucking toulet humor makes me want to stab myself in the balls do you see no irony in writing this sentence?
Joseph Anderson
its legitimately better than any of the newer treks.
Robert Fisher
the main problem with this show is the ugly nigger doctor and her two annoying kids. I have to skip through every episode with them in it.
Also Isaac's redemption was completely ruined because it was based on him feeling compassion for those niglets, something the viewer couldn't even feel.
Thomas Cooper
It's still a better show than [current year] Trek.
This, its so hit or miss it makes it tough to watch, the episodes that hit are like 99% successful. The episodes that miss are wandering turds. I really like the show as well but the season was paced out very poorly putting a lot of micro plots right next to each other and not stretching out a story arc for a season that we could really latch onto.
Ethan Bailey
Show was kino until they wrote Alara off. Alara is love. Alara is life.
Daniel Brooks
The nigger doctor falling in love with the robot was dumb af
Ethan Sanchez
Heya BF, sorry for ghosting the discord without saying anything. The whole /trek/ scene is a little too hostile right now so I'm taking a step back until the weather changes. You're pretty rad, didn't want you to think it was because I was angry with any of you. Orville and stuff.
Agreed. The issac romantic relationship was so stupidly managed that it I felt more sympathy for him than anypne else. Everyone was treating him like ahit for being exactly what he was. Was insanely retarded.
Worst thing about writing her off is they replaced her with !Alara, just do something new, it almost feels like shitting on the character that they just replaced her with the same character
Brayden Miller
Game of the Goose, great stuff
Charles Morales
No that's me forgetting to put on a trip after posting in another thread lol
You're not much better Jess, but people seem to like you for some reason. That fuck regularly abuses his jannie powers to nuke threads and ban people who call him out on his bullshit. Go back to your gulag.
This show is more star trek than discovery what the fuck happened?
Landon Gonzalez
hey hey don't be a fucking prick, let's just get back to captain hamlet's "to stab my balls, or not to stab my balls, that is the question" monologue if you stab your balls off then you won't have any balls you want to stab, you know
If you want kino Star Trek inspired comedy just watch Red Dwarf, it had it's ups and downs but at least it wasn't just another Family Guy rebrand.
Xavier Price
Phenomenally low bar.
William Edwards
Way to stick up for your pegfu. Go paint your minatures the wrong colir some more you arrogant twat.
Easton White
Dropped this show 5 minutes into first episode. Dumbest and laziest mistake of Seth's career imo was deciding to perform Brian Griffin in his neutral voice.
Anthony Rogers
>That episode when they went undercover as Krylle is pretty excruciating. wasn't that the best episode of the series?
Caleb Perry
>But at least the ultimate space cutie Alara was back for a scene back in time to get BLACKED
Carson Anderson
>I have high hopes for season 3. wasn't it cancelled?
Asher King
>The formed alliance with the highly religious zealots Krill was surprisingly simple. well, the Krill have been shown to be reasonable people when treating each other, they are not hypermasculine or hyperwarriors like klingons or other kinds of space-orcs, they are just hyper-racist, so it would make sense that if they see that they have no option but to ally with other people that they would do it instead of clinging to some sort of masculine-warrior-autism
Jayden Stewart
No it's been confirmed as renewed
Josiah Butler
does it get worse after the Kelly time change bullshit episode? I haven't seen that episode and any subsequent ones after
Tyler Rivera
The finale wasn't a two-parter. That duplicate Kelly episode only set up the finale. Both of of which sucked anyway. They tried so hard to recreate Data and they fell so flat. The only part about Isaac that I liked was his complete unintended smugness about being better than biological life. Literally everything, but mostly the "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE." writing Yeah. It doesn't have to be super nuanced or complicated. They were the original enemy because they were super racist, but when some superior enemy is going to kill both of you, it makes sense to put aside previous differences.
Easton Gray
That was the season two penultimate episode. It turns out that Kelly agreeing to go on a second date with MacFarlane is the single most important event in the history of the universe. The Kalon win and they have to go back in time or whatever to fix the timeline.
Owen Myers
>spoiler oh boy. guess i'll strap in for this ride when i'm free
Jonathan Howard
I really liked The Orville (except for the Kelly episodes) up until the last two episodes of season two. They're honestly just so bland and forgettable.
Mason Sanchez
The Orville is made by people who like science and the science fiction genre. STD is made by fake nerds who only know Trek from the pop culture references.
They let jews have control over it fully I shit you not
Jace Miller
Reminder. Isaac has guns in his head. Pew! Pew! Pew!
Gabriel Flores
Captain. Do you ever sit in your quarters and look out the window? Do you ever stop and watch the darkness out there? It's very, very dark in space. Look so empty. But there are terrors lurking all around us in the infinite shadows. You can't see them, but they are there.
