1st time I saw it , thinking it was a drama and I hated it. Then much later rewatched it as a comedy. It’s great.
No, is actually kind of the oposite.
He claims that those who hate capeshit, also enjoy media that have a clear formula and are as easy to impress by shocking moments, they are just smug about it.
You need to watch everything on this list to understand Birdman
Through ignorance, he pushed himself to trascendence

This “”””film”””” is the epitome of Hollywood self-jerking.
>oh I’m so introspective and intelligent about my movies
>actors are geniuses
Everyone sucks. We all need some sort of escapism. I've only seen the movie once on release, so I might be forgetting some other themes. I think actors are people too was touched upon.
So basically he (the guy michael keeton plays) sees himself as a real stage actor but because he also is a superhero no one takes him seriously and think he should do other work. in a way the film rips off black swan if you've seen that. in the end he decides that to be great is to immerse yourself in the role and tries to kill himself.
spoliers: at the end he survives to raving reviews but now left accomplishing what he always wanted to do (prove everyone wrong) he returns to himself, the hero.
its a move about overcoming what people think of you and proving that you can accomplish things regardless of what people tell you.
>what people expected

Pretentious auteur takedown
the man is a bird lole
Psst, user. Have you every considered that it might (also) be about the nature of sensationalism and the primacy of perception? That's not saying your explanation is wrong (I drew a similar conclusion myself for the first time), but it might be a little naive.
The whole hospital scene was a dream, he died on stage.
What will be the next Hollywood wankfest to win awards
It's a movie for actors, by actors. You wouldn't get it if you've never been involved in a play.
