What would be an actually decent human subplot for a movie like this?

What would be an actually decent human subplot for a movie like this?

just random characters going through the events. and not much attention payed to them. have the government scenes and survivor scenes but dont make them the focus.

You don't think the kaiju stuff will get old if it's two+ hours of almost entirely monster fights?

Either or make the human action entertaining enough on its own like Final Wars

Not familiar with Final Wars.. what did they do well on the human side?

but i dont mean that i mean it just wouldnt have as much focus on humans. make it horrific with some characters you think are gonna live get squashed. literally all the characters do in these movies is spoonfeed the audience exposition or have drama that no one gives a shit about when you have giant monsters fighting right outside. the argument always goes like that wouldnt it be boring. no as long as the fights and human interaction where displayed in equal parts and interesting it would be great enough of the cockteasing.

I have not seen kotm, but I always felt like 2014 did it fine, the only issue was they pulled back out from the monster fight repeatedly when they should have dived in. The way I see it is you need to have that long drawn out government/secret history act to hype these monsters up, basically like foreplay, then once the monsters are revealed it's deep penetration until climax.

Well I mean that's sort of what I'm asking here.. you said pay less attention to the humans which I can get behind but youre going to have to have SOME kind of human subplot going on. Aside from random character's getting killed off what would be a decent b-story?

No defined leads, make it set in the future with a class of kids learning history. Similar in vain to found footage but its from like soldiers or jets or something and we get long and varied shots of differemt monster battles and the monsters being idle to give them personality, show how like mothra and Gzilla just chill swimming in ocean then a fight scene with breaks for the class after every concluded fight scene.

Different perspectives and film styles is what i mean kf you can get that

genetically engineering a femzilla and making her fall in love with you.

I didn’t see it but a gundam would be the coolest imo

Film it like the Beach Scene of Saving Private Ryan or Cloverfeild without the found footage shit.

Just show on the ground damage of Godzilla destroying the city. People melting from the radiation.

a man trying to get revenge only to realize he cant stop nature

The humans are huge boisterous caricatures like the monsters.

They literally did that in KOTM in multiple scenes which pissed a bunch of people of. I enjoyed it though desu.

>People melting from the radiation.
Like when Hedorah would fly over a crowd and they'd fuckin' melt.

Something like this The key is to make the protagonist somebody who wants to somehow enact revenge on Godzilla. OG steppin' on his son is a pretty good reason. But let's put the wife and daughter under him too.

He's not a soldier or even he's just National Guard, but after the events of 2014, everyone of age is drafted into a anti-Titan force that is ill-defined. Sure, more bodies to throw at it mean nothing in the long run, but maybe we play with the idea that it's all bread and circuses to keep the population placated; "The Anti-Titan Force will protect us!" Kinda like Pacific Rim only no mechas (yet).

We have this grunt pushing through, trying to make whatever rank is required to even be in the running to make any kind of a stand. He's right there at the cusp of that transition and the attacks start.

We can keep the eco-terrorists, because that's pretty funny. Classic terrorist/counter-terrorist situation. This protagonist is present at an attack takes place, setting loose Ghidorah, and he's thwarted, somehow by bureaucracy. That's always the way of things. He's somehow alive and maybe he's the only person who has seen the mastermind's face OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT he's now the human macguffin and he wants insies on the latest shit because he won't play unless he gets to take a swing at Godzilla.

Eventually we'll see the military and Monarch crumbling and this guy is fighting his hardest to do something.

But in the end it doesn't work and Godzilla just steps on him, too.

Humans pool their collective resources together to try to build a Gundam and stop godzilla and other monsters. it's a race against time as the destruction increases, eventually they build it, it fights godzilla and loses, then the humans realize they need to team up with godzilla instead of fighting him

No family bullshit, scientists and military trying to stop the eco guys. If they didnt kill off Bryan id have him be the lead here.

Personally?
>Make it a comedy (not something serious with quips, a legit comedy)
>Make them fight kung-fu
>Make us care about them

Literally KOTM

I'd watch it.

I agree. 2014 produced decent human interactions, where as 2019 clearly has the stink of disgusting capeshit quips and human behavior. 2014 human action, and 2019 monster fights would've been kino.

Kaiju scientists enlist some deep core drillers to drill a hole into the monsters to place an anti matter bomb. Also the drillers have to learn to sky dive. And maybe mountain climb.

Hire a charismatic lead like the breaking bad guy that's it
Warner bros execs are stupid. Lel le bait and switch xd enjoy this literal who for the rest of the movie ;)
>b-b-but LE Godzilla is le star haha
FUCKING STUPID

>Prologue of a soldier who has a war buddy that's stomped out by godzilla
>Completely snaps and trains vigorously to apply for the chance to pilot mecha G
>Pilots mecha G
You get all the cut to human parts hollywood could ever want and it's never taking away from a monster fight since the pilots ARE the monster fight.
It's not fucking hard at all.

A story about a fighter pilot. The air force is the only branch that really has an effect in half these movies, plus the freedom of high altitude perspectives would allow perspective shifts from humans to kaiju without making it so youre just watching somebody run around while a monsters foot is in the background.

I know I'm in the patrician minority, but I enjoyed the human parts. They framed the story properly and it just felt right.

>You don't think the kaiju stuff will get old if it's two+ hours of almost entirely monster fights?
Maybe, but the copy-pasted "human drama" most surely does get old much quicker

I didn't think the human plot was that bad, it just obviously gets overshadowed by the larger than life Kaiju

I enjoyed the human parts as well but I didn't enjoy them overshadowing the monster fights.

Have a major point in the movie after finally getting Mecha G and fighting Godzilla he shouts "This is for....!" only to realize he forgot his buddy's name

Christ

Alright anons, indecisive faggot here

I have 3 viewing options: IMAX (digital, not dome), 4DX, and Dolby. I wanted to see the movie in all 3, with Dolby being my first viewing since I hear it's the best, but that doesn't seem like it's possible.

My options are: either seeing the movie in Dolby first, and then seeing it either in 4DX or Imax, not both, OR seeing it in 4DX or IMAX first, then the other 2 options. In other words, if I see it in Dobly for my first viewing, i'll miss out on either IMAX or 4DX.

What should I pick?

A nod to the first one

>Navy EOD guy/ MCU Quicksilver returns to assist the effort to revive Godzilla.
>Quicksilver runs out to help Godzilla Expert Man, while he struggles with carrying the Nuke.
>Quicksilver ensures that it detonates, sealing their fate as they revive Godzilla
>Scarlet Witch is informed of her husbands sacrifice and mourns (again)

Plot 2:
>Ecoterrorists are given minor validation, as those from their ranks were those who lost loved ones from the MUTO research

North korean nuclear missile tests bring back fake north korean godzilla

You know I'm right
Literally nobody cares about Vera Farminga or Kyle Chandler LITERALLY WHO Watanabe, those fags have zero normie appeal

Imagine a Godzilla movie with The Rock, Vin or Keanu but nope gotta hire Kyle Chandler

watch the cam and save your money, then get the WEB-DL when it comes out

I'd skip dolby entirely and go straight to IMAX > 4D.
Imax nearly blew my ears out.

first of all the movie doesnt need to be 2hrs long runtime needs to be 1:30- 1hr 45mins long

have at least 50mins be action while the rest can be spent on the military/scientist characters that dont have cringy quips
no kids

actually have weapons that can do some type of damage to the titans even if its just minimal

I don't see the point is Godzilla. The equation doesnt add up to a good story unless Godzilla is cute like a Disney character. The human element is boring because the characters are helpless save for the odd nuke or something along those lines.

Add a giant woman in there and Im in.

Godzilla set in feudal Japan

Literally Ultraman

I just got back from my second viewing of KoTM

I never fucking go to a movie twice, rarely do I even go to a theater the first time. It was just as good the second time around as the first time. Literally a fucking love letter to Godzilla fans, and holy fuck there is some literal tear jerking parts in the film.
>Dr. Serizawa's death scene
>Mothra sacrificing herself

Jesus Christ the feels were off the charts for me. The movie brought back a happiness in me I haven't felt in years.

Maybe some humans may desperately, and shamefully, deploy a new and horrible weapon of mass destruction to counter the monster. While this is happening other humans who are totally innocent huddle together in masses and sing with one voice an elegy for peace.

You're just asking for Shin Godzilla 2.

the human plot wasn't bad in theory: humans dealing with titans and discovering they are earth's immune system of sorts. that's kinda cool.
in practice it sucked horse dick.
remove the shitty family drama. you're not fucking spielberg.
oh my god zilla? king gonnorhea? jfc. fix the quips or remove them.
reduce the number of characters. we don't need every soldier mook having lines.
we don't need a human antagonist either:
focus on writing a strong main cast and how they deal with the titan shit instead.
the orca was unnecessary. giant fucking kaiju do as they please that's what makes them cool and terrifying.
instead scientific characters should have focused their technobabble on titan biology and behavior, instead.
less exposition in general. definitely less muh mythological monster exposition: yes they are the monster of legend that were worshipped as gods we fucking get it already you don't have to say it a billion trillion times.
on that note less exposition in general, more planning intelligent plans of action for the human armies and scientists.
Shin was smart about this, having humans focus on investigation and planning, instead of endless moral debates as monsters wreck their world.

Yeah thankfully the emotional scenes had actual emotion and weren't cut short by quips

Threads like this is why I'll never listen when Yea Forums says they could have done a better job on a movie. All these ideas are absolute trash

IMAX for sure.

Every piece of art based on this movie has been beautiful.

Well stated

Cut the family drama entirely and focus on the a scientists/military/Eco terrorists.

I would shrink the monsters to a third of their size so it makes the terror more personal
no running after stupid women or kids, just soldiers and scientists trying to make sense of the madness
add some shadow government jews to have caused/provoked or accelerated the kaiju fights
and show the monsters fighting in broad daylight too!

>a crazy woman wants to become a kaiju so godzilla would fuck her
>a crazy man wants to gender bend godzilla so he could fuck her
>a group of psychopath wants to build doomsday device to destroy earth since godzilla has taken everything from them
>a group of engineers wants to build a spaceship to escape earth and colonize a new planet without godzilla but their ship gets destroyed by either godzilla or a kaiju
>a villain who wants to clone godzilla
>a villain who wants to become one with godzilla

Probably some ultra glowies working in secret to try and find the macguffin. Then use that story line as the after credits scene to set it up for the next flick. It would be a cool shocker to have this seemingly unimportant (considering the giant world-ending monsters) plot be revealed as essential to human survival.

All we need really, surprised the terrorists didnt go anywhere other than tywin being ominous

What are essential Godzilla lore movies?
>inb4 all of them

I went to this movie because Yea Forums loved it so much, and as much as I can enjoy something due to others enjoyment, this was a 6/10 for me, just because of the sappy human parts
>Fly from N America to Antarctica in 5 minutes movie time
>Super secret trillion dollars paramilitary org lets a girl have access because much mommy
>The protagonist's motivation (getting his wife and daughter back) was understandable, but they let him have way too much leeway (what good was it sending him on the nuke sub)
>Why did they let the wife take the Humvee? Handcuff that bitch into a chair

Don't mean to hate on it, really. But what are some of the fan service parts that made it so good for you (and I missed)?

that is stupid, dont try to become a writer

>tfw you don't mean to kill anyone
>tfw so large a single step can kill dozens, if not hundreds of people

ah, a giantess fan. I see you are a true patrician.

yeah, let them work as the army in evangelion, they drop bombs and distract the angels gaining time for the pilots, make it like that, they can go explaining shit as they prepare the atack strategys and support godzilla with proper bombarding and cool technology like rileguns and orbital bombarding and shit

the humans dont get to win any fight, but they open oportunitys for godzilla to win

a brave journalist risk his life in order to speak truth to power and impeach the president of the united states

I like IMAX for the reason that the theater can't fuck up the settings on the equipment, it's all controlled remotely by IMAX. I hate when I see movies and the sound is way too down or it feels like it's only coming from the front speakers and never engages the sides or rear.

Why not have a sole monster subplot where the monster's expressions explain the story.

Make him the protagonist.

>New mothra egg is being researched by cutie Chinese girl from kotm. It's her finding it on skull island. She has adventures through the woods. Once 1 hour mark reaches we have 45 min of non stop Kong vs Zilla cuz Zilla comes for.mothra but King Kong wants him off the island or is being controlled by a big bad. Kong wins but only cuz Godzilla took a hot to remove a mind control collar which the big bad put on him to make him right Zilla so he can become prime alpha w.e. from kotm.
The orca is destroyed can't be used. Now Kong free he attacks but mecha modzilla and ghydora come out from lair as backups. Kong and Zilla team up to fight off new mecha kaijus. The end. No humans throughout that last 45 min besides crucial plot things like big bad being charged or releasing the monsters
