i really hate forced strong womyn role but the explanation in the epilogue really justified her.

I looked her up to see if she was even real.
>While most of the show's characters were based on real-life participants in the 1986 nuclear disaster, Khomyuk's character (played by Emily Watson) was invented by writer and producer Craig Mazin.
>For a series that airs stunningly on the side of accuracy, "Chernobyl" took a detour with Khomyuk, who represents multiple Soviet scientists who investigated the cause of the power plant accident.

I had to look her up because she just reeked of that modern tough, smart, snarky female thing that so many movies/shows do today. Sure enough, she's completely made up. Most likely to appeal to a female audience and so cuckboi Mazin could virtue signal.

Wrong
See It's extremely cringeworthy how this super smart know it all womyn scientist comes out of nowhere to btfo all the dumb males. Not to mention the actress has horrible rushed delivery

he isn't

she is a symbol for every symbol good guys had helping them.

from a writers standpoint having one person to embody the function of many so it doesnt gets bloated with too many characters to introduce makes sense.

just imagine even 5 more scientist characters each for a different task - rooftop cleaning - victim interviews etc
now you need to introduce them and make you care about them.

it was a good solution storyteller wise. you could argue it should have been a man - yes.

We get it, you hate women, you don't need to make up shit to justify yourself.

WOMAN BAD
MAN GOOD

I'm not even convinced you had to condense it down to 1 character, that makes it seem like a cartoon with a super genius scientist. Surely thats a stupid thing to sacrifice realism for

based

It's annoying how they assassinated the real Legasov by writing it so the fictional intellectually and morally superior woman scientist has to convince him to tell the truth and do the right thing

Well, the entire reason I started this shitshow was because my friend said it's oh so realistic. Who cares about 5 scientists... couldn't they have at least just championed one of the actual scientists and used him/her instead? I think they wanted someone who they could have creative liberty with, but I don't think they quite hit the mark with her.

I can't take the series completely seriously because her scenes and demeanor are so anachronistic and MARY SUE-ed that they break the immersion. It's too bad because the rest of the scenes and actors are fine because they're based on real history

She's also a coward because she cajoled Legasov into doing it while she and Shcherbina watched from the sidelines as he got KGB'd.

Agreed completely.
