Almost done making that edit of episodes one and five since everything in episode one is pretty much in order there isn't much left to do.
I missed all the memes, can someone give me a quick rundown on the top 5?
kgb
What is it that makes /rbmk/ threads the best since /scdp/?
>And that is how an RBMK reactor explode
>*drops mic*
>MR PAVEL I'M LIQUIDATOR
Jarred Harris
Good Lord, that gave me the best laugh in three days.
lies.
actual kino.
3.6 not great, not terrible
>We want to make a tv show that women can’t understand
>...I have just the man
How can one man be so based? Who are some other actors who only appear in kino?
What edit?
thats awesome user, look forward to it.
ahhh
this and the central committee as a whole, their superiority complex over time made them renounce reality altogether and miss the opportunity to improve their shitty empire
youtube.com
Such a good series.
>And here is how /RMBK/ works and how it maintained a stable balance for over 5 weeks. A perfect balance of hot memes balanced out by cooling factors of discussion among others. It's truly the perfect thread design that will see no equal. But I'm afraid the fuel for /RBMK/ doesn't last long. After all the episodes are used up the chain reaction of memes will gradually decrease, but we will all keep the memories and friends we made along the way. I serve the Soviet Union.
based
So who was /our guy/ for the whole show?
The entire cast of The Terror, desu. Absolute man-kino productions the lot of em
I'm putting episode one and five together so it fits chronologically. Should just really be episode one, but with 20 minutes stuck on the front of it.
>but in the end, Shcherbina, you've become Chernobyl
wow, Legasov, really?
Stellan, he was the most based. A reformed party-man who transformed from jaded official to humble hero.
Dyatlov, no doubt. Did nothing wrong
>So how come there were chunks of graphite everywhere but no uranium nuggets?
only very little of the fuel actually left the building, the rest melted into the basement. after the accident it was actually a mystery of what happened to the fuel because if it all burned up in the atmosphere the radiation would have been even worse which confused scientists. then a bunch of mad men scientists called the complex expedition went into the plant while the sarcphoagus was under construction, out of pretty much out of sheer curiosity, to go study the wreckage. they got cameras into the reactor and found it utterly empty, only some graphite and warped pressure tubes on the ubs. then they discovered the bottom of the reactor pit was severely damaged and went lower down and found huge radiation spikes and steaming concrete. turns out the fuel melted though into the lower floors and spread all over the place and got into pipes and shit where they also discovered the elephant's foot.
Khodemchuk
Easily #1
why did he commited suicide bros?
>Singlehandedly destroyed communism
Have you thanked Dyatlov today?
Is anyone else sad that this level of kino won’t grace our screens for years to come? It’s taken the edge of the end of GOT completely. I’m so sad it’s gone.
for me its career party man
imagine how sadder you'd be if it never happened
>terror
>chernobyl
Whats next in his mad rampage of female alienation?
Are you replaying the stalker games user?
he was balding
Fuck off GOT nigger
Just saw the last episode, now but? how long does this general have? 5 years?
kek
I’m a reformed GOT fan. I have seen the error of my ways, and I repent.
best episode?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
not sooty enough
imagine washing his soot off with your cumshot
A couple of months, not enough episodes to feed the flames - even GoT is dying already
The New Pope probably isn't too far away from its release date
Hang on comrade
so who found legasov's tapes? did he tell ulana where they were off screen?
Gonna have to say 3
I think episode 5. to end a kino series with Kino is something to be noted.
>it was mostly jews and poles who lived here
>they used graphite tipped control rods because it was cheaper
Uh guys.
Autistic scientist
I wish I could find men attractive like you do
second one desu
aghh
season 2 is set up to be sjw as fuck tho
What exactly did Akimov and Toptunov do with the valves? Was it correct or did it more damage than good?
2, or 4
So did a single man really killed the soviet union?
Any more details on this expedition? Pity they didn't have it in the show, the tension of going into reactor building while not really knowing what to expect could have been kino.
kek
Dyatlov, without question.
>just watched last episode
God this is pure kino.
All he wanted was that office.
What do the iodine pills actually do?
no, a single waifu killed the soviet people
based and redpilled
Anons, I work in a shoe factory now I'm nothing
To capitalism!
it was the most kino way to go
IRL it's unknown who found them/how they we're circulated, so the show just assumes some random asshole found them. Personally I find it more likely that he gave them to a friend
Why don't you google it retard?
They help prevent radiation from being absorbed in the thyroid, its useless if you're already irradiated tho
Pusface! Go and clean the bloody roof!
if you mean in episode 1 it didn't matter what they did. all the pipes for the cooling system were proper fucked. like the other guy said "i'm not going to turn valves to pump water into a ditch"
That's not AZ-5
absorb iodine atoms
redpilled me on comrade Fomin
template?
Should I do it, lads?

KINO ALERT

>Any more details on this expedition?
yeah there's entire documentary about them called 'into the sarcophagus' made in late 80s/early 90s, pretty sure you can find it on youtube or one of the other video sites.
Stalker mini series when?
Cruise control in the main role.
I'm watching with my friend, he over HBO Go in America and me over HBO in Europe. I keep regularly pulling ahead of him in time, sometimes several seconds ahead after a few minutes. What the fuck is going on?
No. No I won't do that. Draw your sword!
Your body takes in Iodine and it all goes to the thyroid.
If you have a surplus of Iodine, your body will not take in more.
One of the high radiation but comparatively short half life compounds produced in a reactor is radioactive iodine (Iodine-131) which is has a half life of 8 days. So taking the pills prevents you getting tons of radiation in your thyroid, and thus thyroid cancer.
The Terror threads were kino as shit too
"Are we brothers, Francis? I would like that very much."
3.6 Roentgens (not great not terrible)
Reactor-chan!!
Contain the spread of misinformation
Boris protects Legasov's smile
Yellow pump bois
Is he the new Ricardo?
also
>RBMK reactors cannot explode
>you did not see graphite on the roof
Apparently Fomin is still alive and well
It is the cyrillic Z
No.
It prevents the thyroid from absorbing Iodine-131 which is the primary radioactive isotope in the first few weeks. You take the iodine pills to fill your thyroid with stable iodine.
Lyudmilla didn't take them, so all the iodine-131 was absorbed by her thyroid and the "empty" one of her unborn baby. She didn't die because in her thyroid the concentration was minimal
>not miners
>not Coal Intelligence Agency
>not Based Bacho

He is probably lagging. Americans don't have real internet.

3.6/3.6
it didn't do more damage, but it did pose the risk of a second steam explosion
Quick rundown on dyaltov? what was his fucking problem? he gave 0 fucks
He claims he isn't, but i feel like one of our episode is either going a little faster or a little slower, for whatever fucking reason.
Did the americans have a robot that couldve handled that roof?
All reactors were shut down.
Everybody forgot about Shoeman, shameful
forgot some music for your gif, buddy
youtube.com
>what was his fucking problem?
He was in charge of incompetent morons.
Dude had stopped giving a fuck years ago when his son died of leukemia
aww yiss. deleted puppers from episode 4.
that's what I meant with the "more damage"
So because of them they had to send in the divers?
What about General Pikalov?
he felt in charge
thanks m8
They would send an army of walmart goers on electric scooters to push back the graphite with them
It would have lasted a few hours, but not even a day.
I recently started watching this, lads. Currently on e4. The army officer who threatens to kill the young guy if he doesn't mercy kill the dogs really reminds me of an old co-worker of mine. Spooky
Yes
women loved mad men
No, the water from the firefighting efforts would have caused that anyway.
They basically died brave but pointless deaths trying to fix the unfixable.
Just flipping a switch innit
reminder dyatlov was in harry potter
I kinda missed the death date of Sitnikov. Did he died shortly afterwards because he looked into the core?
Divers would have been needed just for the firefighting hoses.
People can't comprehend that Dyatlov's fictional evilness or negligence whatever you call it is necessary for making the whole reactor crew set development great, along with Fomin and co. If not for that, the whole thing would boil down to muh innocence vs muh broken reactor, which, to be fair, would be quite shite and make the show a fucking shonen, but instead, and that's what makes the show good, is a whole complex situation where no one's good, no one's bad.
>Quick rundown on dyaltov? what was his fucking problem? he gave 0 fucks
His son died because of another nuclear accident.
He wanted to create a crisis so large even the Soviet Union couldn't cover up.
AZ-6R stand for what?
Do you guys have RBMK user manual pdf?
>"Photographs of various scientists who participated in the battle to clean up Chernobyl...
>"Legasov was aided by dozens of scientists who worked tirelessly alongside him at Chernobyl.
>Some spoke out against the official account of events and were subject to denunciation, arrest and imprisonment.
>The character of Ulana Khomyuk was created to represent them all and to honor their dedication and service to truth and humanity."
>photographs of the scientists are shown
>they are all men
>Received fatal dose (about 1,500 roentgens or 390 mC/kg), mostly to head, after being sent by Fomin to survey the reactor hall and look at the reactor from the roof of unit C
>died 30 May 1986
>kgb are comic supervillains
probably the only thing that prevents this series to be a 10/10 for me
Fomin was Harry's dad.
Does anyone else taste metal?
3.6 points to Gryffindor? Not great, not terrible.
dailymotion.com
here's the horizons episode called into the sarcophagus
it covers:
tarakannov leading the bio robots on the roof
complex expedition looking for the fuel by taping cameras to toy tanks and jury rigging their own camera equipment
joker robot (i don't see a joke here)
scientists talking in a room telling us if only we knew how bad things really are
its pretty fucking kino if you're looking for more stuff to watch. it was made in early 90s and i think this is a vhs rip so picture quality isn't too great.
>about 1,500 roentgens
That's an equivalent of the balls chest X-ray, right?
>Dont look over the edge
>looks over the edge
Svetlana Nastya
That what the KGB was comrad
>show ends without detailing the construction of the sarcophagus
WHY
TONIGHT
They loved it, but they didn’t understand it. A crucial distinction that one must be aware of to truly appreciate man-kino.
Sounds cool, but i liked that they kept the build up to the explosion for the last episode.
so A and T didn't "plug" the building and the water, they just tried to put water in the core and the valves that the divers had to turn were for a different purpose, but to release the combined water damage by A,T and the firefighters?
What was he thinking at this moment?
wait, the puppy scene is the aired one, not the deleted one.
nadia clifford
Mankind itself for trying to harness a power it had the delusion of control over
i'm not saying they weren't, but they didn't even try to justify them even a little with
>there would be massive panic if people knew it
>risking it could happen again
come on, they may have been idiots, but not suicidal
>learn from the podcast Legasov had a wife and family
>immediately lose immersion
That's General Chadov now Comrade. Second only to MINER CHAD in the Chad hierarchy
INCOMPETENT MORONS
they only loved it so much as they could yass queen slay peggy
they never appreciated or understood a man like lane pryce
good shit homies
BLACKED
Is there any testimony that Dyatlov was really as much of a prick as he was portrayed in the show? I get the feeling he may have just been incompetent
there's two women on the bus (one is kind of cute)
I have a feeling they made the character a woman because they were able to get Emily Watson and she was too old to play Lyudmilla Ignatenko so they gave her the character and only then named it Ulana
I hope thats what happened anyway, that kind of thing is common for fictional characters in retellings of real stories
its all true
Almost everything we saw in the control room scenes was word for word what he said and happened.
It was either a woman or a nigger. Personally, I prefer the woman.
>Is there any testimony that Dyatlov was really as much of a prick as he was portrayed in the show?
No.
Don't forget this guy was also Dr. Ashford in Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Gentlemen, I present series 2:
does anyone have a hr version of this?
He's done.
He did everything right bros
Have sex
>Is there any testimony that Dyatlov was really as much of a prick as he was portrayed in the show? I get the feeling he may have just been incompetent
If anything, the show downplayed it a little.
None of his colleagues or subordinates liked him
Why didn't they show the elephant's foot?
well, what did you expect from capitalist lies, comrade ?
Have you got the version of this pic with him vomiting?
He unironically did nothing wrong.
If anything, he was more of a asshat. Of course, it happens when you survive two nuclear disasters.
this entire segment
>Granny snatch
>You were the one who mattered most
Nothing wrong except for following orders he knew were insane and dangerous beyond measure.
Him and all the others are egomaniacs just like Dyatlov. They could have stopped it. They willingly blew it because they believed he was able to terminate their job. But they risked the entire world for their shitty lives
This, they signed up Emily Watson and made sure she had a role.
they forgot about it
Where the hell are you getting your information from? Craig Mazin's podcast?
What exactly is that?
The transcripts of what happened that night.
>all the men quiet and listening to the explanations of how the plant works and how it failed during the trial
>women not listening and just asking questions while they're explaining it
Khokhol babuschka waitin' to get raped again by another young, hung soldier!
>BRAVE
>POWERFUL
These words accurately describe Ulana Khomyuk. The sacrifices she made saved countless lives. The Hero of Chernobyl.
Post them.
Wasn’t discovered until after the events of the show
A kind of lava
Ep 5 was definitely the weakest episode because of the Mary Sue fan fiction.
I want a friend like Boris
He is basically one of those SS boys and concentration camp workers
"I just followed orders" "I did nothing wrong" "They threatened me"
Yeah, they threatened you with job termination and prison. You blew out the brains of people.
Would lead shielding really be enough to protect you from 15,000 Roentgens of radiation or did his massive brass balls help a little?
The radiactive material, cement, sand, all melted together and its highly radioactive.
So wait did Perevozchenko see the rod caps bouncing, run to the control room to tell them, then run back to the reactor hall to see the lid off and the stack burning, then run back to the control room again?
Underrated
You made lava?
thanks for the docukino user
>only appears in kino
>he was in Mr. Deeds
Sorry comrade but you're delusion
>but he was kino in this
I'm wondering if I should edit out Vasily's wife
This scene was the worst thing in the show if you ask me
he's very good in the Expanse too
They still didn't explain what happened in Dyatlov's Pass.
I wasn't and am not asking you.
Mr. Deeds was kino
he and toptunov didnt deserve to die bros ;_;
>Jews... That is how an RBMK reactor explodes.
What did Soviet chemist Valery Legasov mean by this?
I'm not saying I didn't.
>KGB guy literally says that Legasov's testimony won't be included in the transcript
>Yea Forums retards: UH, WELL, THE TRIAL TRANSCRIPT DIDN'T INCLUDE ANY TESTIMONY FROM LEGASOV SO CLEARLY HE WASN'T THERE
swear to fucking god you people are too dumb to live
he should be
They were delusional.
We need at least three brave anons.
Idk but you can be sure there was absolutely no graphite there either
He must've felt the explosion and put two and two together
Is there still a chance that the reactor fuel can melt through to the ground water? Is it still hot now?
are the transcripts from inside the control room available anywhere?
Based
Man, the miners really had a hard life...
don't be delusional
The reactor is fine comrade. Everything is fine. Have you taken your iodine pills today?
>You stopped Jews from gaining promotions during your time in Kiev to curry favour with the party
why do jew shave to put in their little victim complex to everything?
No, its much cooler now.
Reactors keep about 6% of their heat, but then it drops quickly.
because if the goyim forget then they lose their power
im very much looking forward to this when its done
My mom loved The Terror and Chernobyl, what now?
Maybe try asking the KGB nicely? I'm sure they had bugs everywhere in the plant.
user it was (((((their))))) doing. Can you not read between the lines?
now, come on, you have to know this is fiction and legasov probably knew a testimony wasn't going to change anything, especially at a show trial. He was probably afraid for his family
the equivalence legasov killed himself=they fixed the reactors is pure show. he probably was going to die for radiations and decided that killing himself was a better way to go out, and he recorded those tapes because he was going to die anyway
reactor were indeed >fixed offscreen by the commie, probably because they saw what and how much it would cost another chernobyl
this is the same as thinking USA won ww2 by themselves because hollywood said so
Id love to but I'm way to scared of them
Goddamnit I miss this show already. I feel like the only logical step is visiting Pripyat. Has anyone here been there or is considering it?
Not sure if they are online.
>mfw too busy taking a shite to supervise a dangerous test
It was discovered in december of 86, which was covered in the show.
calm your little rage pecker there, boy-o.
Stop antagonizing them, you dilated tranny. All that you and /pol/ ever do is shit up this board.
Pretty sure the first episode implied he put them in a drop. Remember at the time he killed himself the USSR was well beyond redemption and even people in the KGB and other levels of government were looking for anything to hasten the collapse
I've wanted to go there for over 10 years, ever since I first played STALKER. Don't know if I'll ever get to or how to go about it though.
kek
That’s reassuring. I wasn’t sure if it was a ticking time-bomb scenario.
The miner is played by Ron Jeremy.
revenge for what? becoming sapient?
So how did the divers survive anyways?
Older women have spent longer in the world, and are more aware to the ways of the menfolk.
vodka
This, Bacho is great, he stole the show for that whole episode.
What radiation? Its only 3.6 roentgen comrade
There are no transcripts. Almost all of them died, but from what we know of the survivors, it was quite different than what it is presented in the show. They did Dyatlov dirty.
Almost the entire thing is taken word for word from Zero Hour: Chernobyl's Disaster.
>muh holohoax
GOOGLE MAPS
Oh, well I have no idea then. Probably was too tangential to the story and would have bloated the show unnecessarily.
The concrete flooring and walls were quite thick and they hadn't been breached like previously thought. Also water is a very good blocker of radiation
Think about this:
>nuclear power plant meltdown that nearly contaminated most of the groundwater of the European continent
>OY VEY! I WAS DENIED A PROMOTION!
>not being able to tell obvious falseflagging
They actually wore protective gear.
Even the workers who showered and changed cloths many time survived. Also most of the people who died directly died being exposed to the huge amounts of radiation right after the blast.
Lets all meet in Kiev
USA did win WW2
but they shouldn't have
>We need Bob Odenkirk to play Dyatlov but we blew the budget on special FX
>say no more senpai
season one was literally about a delusional american tradcath quasi-millennial realizing his ideology was bullshit, is that not too sjw for you already?
YOU DIDNT SEE ANY GRAPHITE BECAUSE IT WASNT THERE
>We need Bob Odenkirk
Wtf are you talking about? Bob Odenkirk would have been a huge downgrade to Paul Ritter.
By that point we had sent probes onto the moon and mars, if only as stationary things. We likely had to the tools available, or could have made them, but maybe not in a day or so. That being said, after 3 Mile Island I wouldn't have put it past us to have a few robots in the nuclear response task force the DoE has, and someone or something was going to have to handle Yucca Mt radioactive material, which at that point was in the planning stage
Btw, what was that bubbling thing of water that the divers spotted?
>Private owned clinic went "just abandon that shit there!" when they went out of bussiness because proper disposal of the equipment was too expensive
>this time capitalism is the cause of the accident
That's the only reason to pick up this story, otherwise is pretty meh.
A horror film with a soundtrack like youtu.be
Paul Ritter is a literally who. It's blatantly obvious that they had Odenkirk in mind.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>tfw you see what isn't there
>3 Mile Island
Anyone have a rundown of this incident?
Maybe not the worst, but just inconsequential, I thought they'd show how the government dealt with those that didn't want to evacuate, but we got sad puppy story instead.
>Did I fuck up by doing something absurdly dangerous?
>No, surely the nuclear engineers telling me it wasn't safe were wrong
I upped rods and stopped water feed, my RBMK core exploded. I didn't even need a graphite.
the entire area was to deal with excess steam generated by the reactor. Thus it was a "bubbler" room
>I was never there. I was taking a shit in the bathroom

It would have been better if they’d made a point of showing her staying even after the cow was shot, as a fair amount of people did stay despite evacuation orders. Something about the resilience of the Russian spirit yada yada. How the proletariat carried on in the face of the disaster. Could have been kino.
a fine gentleman drying due to Soviet doctors being sadists.
Odenkirk is a shit actor. Kill yourself.
Partial meltdown of a reactor, however 99.9% of the radiation was contained in reactor. You would have gotten more radation if you fled to denver
A total nothingburger. Chernobyl wouldn't even be a worthwhile story in America. It was the exceptional collectivism that helped prevent a total disaster. Not to discount the complete ignorance of the Soviet Union though. But America could never have coped with a Chernobyl-level disaster. It's too individualist.
post yfw this plays
>"2-4 megaton thermal explosion"
>everything in 30 km radius will be destroyed
>the shockwave will spread over a radius of 200 spreading nuclear fuel that far
>everyone in Ukraine will die
Any of you who still watched this "show" after hearing this are literally braindead retards.

inside the elephant foot
based on his personal testimonies and a book, he really was in denial about the entire thing. or refused to tell the truth.
the ultimate tl;dr is that a nuclear coolant valve got stuck preventing proper flow of fuel and a secondary safety feature failed, causing a partial nuclear meltdown in the US. until chernobyl it was the worst nuclear disaster, but compared to Chernobyl is was a fire cracker compared to a bundle of dynamite. 3 Mile drastically influenced how US nuclear reactors were designed and safety feature installation to prevent things like that happening. For instance, modern fuel rods are suspended over a special coolant tank by electromagnets. If the power is turned off or disrupted, they instantly drop into the coolant, so they can never NOT have coolant delivered to them.
the hell is this
>shit
you think that's bad, try Hisashi Ouchi in Japan in 1997
Its a homosexual breeding chamber.
>duhh
Hadn't been discovered/formed yet
When will the reactor stop giving off radiation or at least be safe enough that you dont have to leave the area after only a few minutes
For what it's worth, my girlfriend and I just finished the series and she's obsessed with it
a poorly designed reactor user.
(Program is called powder
Will this show improve public perception of nuclear energy? I think it shows that nuclear energy can be managed and kept safe, as long as it is done competently. It’s a shame that the USSR sullied the name of nuclear energy like it did, especially in the midst of the ongoing energy crisis.
better pic if you're interested
God HBO is so shit. And why the fuck do they not use the proper length version on both their online services. One is clearly the proper version and one is the TV version which is shortened, when both are online.
What the absolute fuck.
It was undoubtedly Boris Shcherbina

a few thousand years or until we develop a way of negating radiation
currently the sarcophagus isn't going to need to be replaced until 2110
Not Ouchi... how many times do we have to tell you people
Both Chernobyl and 3 Mile Island did nearly irreversible damage to the image of nuclear energy, as did Fukushima. that said, the last one required a flood, tsunami, and earthquake all at the same time to occur. It would take a massive effort to improve that perception.
It is amazing that you can actually live without skin.
"tell you people that"
what did he mean by that?
>sad puppy story instead
Nobody can't be this fucking retarded.
tfw you will never have him insert his control rod into your rbmk core
Not for long. Hell you can go for a long time without functioning kidneys, bad lungs, bad liver, shitty heart, bad pancreas...
>He dies just 4 years after the explosion
Agreed and amplified, comrade! AmeriKKKans are bad because they are racist! Impeach DrucKKKf!
mfw I'm the minister of kino
this makes me wonder if Chernobyl ever happened in the fallout universe
Yes, but your liver etc can be "replaced" in her function by external artificial organs. your skin though. I can't even imagine how that would feel (taken the pain out of the equation, what would it feel like to touch something with your bare muscle?)
Would it feel cold? Would it burn? What would happen if all of it just dried out? Would there be just scar tissue?
Chernobyl style incidents were probably common but kept quiet

it's easier and you're probably the only person with enough brains to notice.
It does dry out, keeping raw tissue somewhat damp is a big issue for mass trauma where skin grafts are not present yet. As for pain, I'm not really sure how your nerve endings would respond to immense radiation dosage like that. They'd probably be a little more intact, so they'd just feel pain.
Actually we know they happened often, just not quite that dramatically. There were open nuclear dumping grounds near DC, the difference is that they have RadAway, and we don't. In a world where curing yourself of radiation sickness isn't much harder than treating yourself with nyquil, you may as well dump waste wherever and not worry about it. Heck even the cars release actual rads when they break. Not millirads or microrads, literal full rads. That's a lot of radiation in irl terms
And what exactly happened to Akimov? Did his face fall off...like what do I have to imagine here? Leonid but even worse? Like Harvey Twoface?
Bones exposed? Is this even possible? And what about his eyeballs?
