Based on their previous actions (changing Jeyne Westerling to Talisa to give Richard Madden a love story, giving Stannis' plot to Jon so that Kit Harrington could have a big battle with Ramsay, inserting a Dorne plot at the last minute to show off Indira Varma etc.), I'm guessing that Lyanna Mormont was supposed to only have a small role in a single episode when they go to Bear Island, but D&D really liked the actress so they decided to put her in more and more scenes acting boisterous and talking down to other characters, even if it ended up looking unintentionally ridiculous.

They're not realistic for today but they are for medieval society.
