It's called Eyes Wide Shut for a reason. It's about things people are unable or unwilling to see.

It is very surreal. There is a lot of depth to it. On one hand, the orgy is like a Nightmare version of the opening Christmas party, where all pretense and social etiquette is stripped away.

But the movie does a lot of other interesting things. It reveals women for what they are. It shows Bill, a doctor in Manhattan, is just basically a blue collar nobody to the real upper class of society, those with real power.

It has quite a lot to do with revelation, people wearing masks, hidden motivations, and even an exploration of the subconscious. It is a very fascinating fillm.

The secret society stuff is somewhat overblown, but it is definitely there. It's just that it is only a part of a much more complex and fascinating fillm.

Also, this isn't Kubrick's cut.
