New thread, but let's laugh at this user even more who didn't know there was just 5 episodes, and looked for something that didn't exist. Maybe he will be even more sad
i'm about to end this whole show's career
seat up, this is a wild story
>In real life Dyatlov was well aware about core destruction. It was on the gauges. No water flow, no pressure, control rods stuck. He didn't know about scale, but he knew that it was pretty bad. After walking around 4th block and seeing destruction firsthand he ordered to disable emergency pumps, because they were useless, water communications were nonexistent.
>This series partly based on "Chernobyl Notebook" which contains a lot of fiction, and not on real evidences.
>Dyatlov was a professional, but this series made him fanatic.
>Almost every single event here is a lie or just an echo of the truth.
>No one wanted to stop. He didn't see the graphite. He knew that core was melted at least, it was on the gauges basically. Dyatlov and Akimov not guilty at all, reactor blowed up because it was badly engineered. Such catastrophy was only the matter of time.
>I wasn't there. But there's survivors interviews, documents, Dyatlov's book and combining all this you can get a somewhat full picture. They didn't claimed it to be documentary, but they claimed that they wanted to show "bare truth", or something like that, and that this series "based on untold true story". In fact, it based on bullshit. It think there's 2 reasons for this. 1 - they wanted soviets to look bad. 2 - most sources are in russian, lol.
>Because Dyatlov actually were there. It's not only Dyatlov's book, there's plenty of info around, including survivors accounts which disproves serie events and correspond to the book. But, it mostly on russian. Besides, there's no point of lying describing subsequent events after catastrophy.
>Dyatlov wasn't to blame here actually. The reactor itself wasn't safe. Goverment found out it after some time but they decided to shift blame on personell, because i can't imagine SU admitting that it had 14 reactors of that type ready to explode.
give me a quick rundown on the operation, and how to maintain a RBMK1000
>Short answer? Everything. I'm making a video about this serie now and it took 9 pages to describe what's wrong with it. But it will be in russian. I'll describe... well, everything i can remember. Grammar maybe bad sometimes, but english is not my language.
>Personnel wasn't so stupid and stubborn, they knew that it was a meltdown at least, it was on the panels. Dyatlov wrote about this in his book, later Stolyarchuck gave interview to some ukranian youtube channel not so long ago, saying exactly same thing.
>Perevozchenko couldn't see the core, he was somewhere between block 4 and 3 control rooms, heading to third, when explosion happened.
>Kudryavcev and Proskuryakov didn's saw the reactor burning. They indeed were sent to lower control rods, but it was Dyatlov who sent them, shortly after explosion. They didn't make it to the reactor core becayse the way was blocked by debris. I don't think anyone saw the reactor until 2-4 pm, when moscow comission with Valery Legasov flew around it in helicopter. Dyatlov wrote that no one was in reactor room until 4-5 am, but i don't think it was possible to see the picture like HBO showed us. It was damn impressive though.
>Sitnikov didn't make it to the roof, the door was locked. He wasn't forced to go up there.
>According to Dyatlov, Fomin wasn't on the station until 4-5 am.
>Dyatlov didn't call Brukhanov, it was head of chemical department.
>At, around 3-5 am some of KGB people arrived on the station trying to find out what happened. I believe Nikolay Solovyov said it in his interview for Chernobyl NPP youtubechannel.
>Dyatlov saw some colonel in the bunker, when he was called. Yep. He didn't wait for Brukhanov, he was called later.
>Scene with Pripyat committee is just a plain bullshit. They didn't thought about how to hide it, they tried to understand what happened and the scale of it.
>Cherenkov-Vavilov effect isn't visible in the air. A man with education, like Dyatlov, should know it.
>Dyatlov and Akimov not guilty at all, reactor blowed up because it was badly engineered.
>t. Dyatlov
>“Chernobyl exposes the Soviet Union as the rotten failure it was, demonstrating how flawless our modern democracies are in comparison!“
>“Now excuse me, my wife’s black bull and I have a climate change demonstration to attend.“
>not sure that i get what "covered up" means, lol. You mean how events described? There's a lot of people survived that night, many of them are still alive. There's a lot of information about first few days. After that not so much, but i guess it because there's nothing much to tell about. Of course it's only in russian.
It's a drama, ok. So present it like drama. If you doing drama, why the feck you (not you actually, but Craig Mazin) tell people that "That's exacly what he sad" or "That's exactly what happened" in your podcast and interviews? Slap a giant banner "It's a work of fiction" in the beginning so people won't see this as documentary. I do not. But many people do. And it's not entirely about explosion. I didn't see second episode, but i bet they made soviet union look like bunch of cunts.
>Reactor didn't shut down, it dropped it's power to 30 MW when operator switched control modes (it wasn't unusual), then they brought power up to 200 MW. This was enought to do the test. They wanted to test if turbine inertion was enought to power reactor pumps for 30 seconds, until emergency generators are up, in the case of power failure. So as far as they had parameters they needed on the turbine it was ok to do the test. 700 MW wasn't brought for safety reasons in this program, there's another reason for it which Dyatlov explains in his book. They planned to stop the block that night, and that means they likely needed to test some valves, and that require working pressure. They didn't know for sure if it would be necessary or not, so they put 700 MW. Personnel violated that part of the program yes, but it wasn't a reason reactor blew up.
An RBMK reactor explodes because of 'lies'? Disgraceful, really.
Don't lie and nuclear reactors never explode
it's simple, really
So, guys, anyone can make true_detective_like oppening from chernobyl oppening?
>They didn't pull all of the rods out of the core, afaik there were a regulations how many rods you can extract and how deep must be others. They didn't break the rules here.
>Afaik, RBMK reactor have sensors mounted in some fuel assemblies. Some of the channels are used exclusively for mounting sensors. All parameters were within acceptable values. Almost. But it wasn't the cause.
>He didn't treat anyone, and they didn't "bypass numerous safety automated systems". They disabled emergency cooling system, it was required by test program. They switched (not disabled) protection on steam separator pressure and water level to a different values (that was permitted by regulations and was part of working process). And they prevented reactor shutdown by 2 turbines being stopped, which was part of the program, they intended to cut turbines off. Working on 200 MW wasn't forbidden. At that time it was ok to work even on 30 MW, regulations didn't have minimal power requirement. After Chernobyl it was set to 700 MW.
>In the end of that test they planned to stop the reactor with AZ-5 button, but instead of stopping, it blew up.
>I don't think there's many sources available for english speakers, only some of them - most popular books and articles. So that might be the reason. There's much more original sources on russian, including interviews, doc films and Dyatlov's book. I would love to do something about this, but it is hard for me to write something meaningful on english.
>an RBMK reactor can explode
HE SHOULD GO CHECK THE GODDAMN CORE
>ABSOLUTE FUCKING MADMAN
you should see the guys in complex expedition who literally went into the plant and drilled holes everywhere just to see where the hell fuel went to. they just walk around the radioactive bio shield like its nothing. then they discovered the corium floes and elephants foot.
>Are we brothers Valera?
>I would like that very much
True Communist
I mean nor from oppening, There a lot of scenes wits smoking legasov\sherbina
>They had WWER yah, but it was way more difficult and expensive. Besides RMBK were more profitable.
>Well, it was not about rods quantity, it was about operative reactivity reserve. Let's just say it... how much reactivity reactor would have if all inserted rods were extracted, measured in rods. It doesn't make much sense for me, but that what it is. It is a complex parameter which relies on many factors, like fuel burnout, iodine pit and not just rods quantity. Usually it was calculated on station computer every 30 minutes or so 50 meters away from the control panel room. At that time minimum was set at 15 rods, purely by economical reasons. Before beginning last known value was well above 15. Just before explosion - 6-8, but personnel didn't knew about it. It was calculated after, on Smolensk NPP. So, this parameter quickly changes, but there was no means for real-time monitoring it. And in case of low operative reactivity reserve reactor needs to be stopped. >There's basically one way to do it - to lower all control rods. And with low reserve it can blow reactor up.
>I agree with you about shortcuts, but in the end, it was bad reactor design.
>In his book Dyatlov wrote that he understood, that it was a meltdown at least. He walked around 3-4th blocks, and after seeing destructions he stopped any attemps to cool the reactor. Don't know about main pumps, but he wrote that he ordered to disable emergency ones. That's what he said. There's also Boris Stolyarchuk interview on youtube, he says exactly same thing, he understood that core is destroyed.
>They didn't went to the valves. If reactor worked, valves already should have been open, otherwise they would prevent water flow to the channel. Dyatlov wrote that they were working on the block to prevent further fires. I understand what autors wanted to show, but they just made personnel look stupid.
Daily reminder nuclear is the only practical source of green energy and everything else is a meme.
There is no more core, your grace!
>I didn't mean all soviets, mostly high-ranks. Do you think Fomin was hero, after watching this? Or Brukhanov? Or that old man who wants to lock up the city to prevent panic? I don't know why west wants to demonize soviet goverment so bad. Sure, they weren't most talkative people, but, in the end, they were just people doing their jobs and not throwing speeches about Lenin and socialism.
>It was, but it was not tips. It was a graphite cylinder hanging on the control rod. When rod is fully extracted, graphite takes it's place to prevent water from flooding the channel. It usually cool the rods, but water can absorb slow neutrons when graphite is basically make ones, so when you want power to go up it's better to have graphite in channel, than water. But the problem is that active zone is pretty big, 7 meters in height. They didn't have enough place in lower part of the reactor, so graphite block is only 5 meter in height. When rod is fully extracted, there's 1m of water below graphite. And when rod going down, for the first seconds it generates power spike in the lower part of the active zone, when water being displaced by graphite. When there's a lot of rods coming down... there's a lot of power. After Chernobyl they fixed it by lowering graphite block by 1m. Now it's 5m graphite and 2m water.
>Most of the people involved were just doing their jobs.
>With Legasov i'm not sure it was about trust. Others were just unreachable at the moment. It was saturday after all. He even wasn't RBMK expert, he was chemist.
>He indeed insisted on Pripyat evacuation, at leas that what he said on the tapes. But it was after he saw the reactor from the helicopter. Radiation levels in Pripyat for first few days wasn't that high, and, by the numbers evacuation wasn't necessary.
IS THAT WHAT SHUTDOWN MEANS
MORE POWER
Absolutely based digits
>>No one wanted to stop. He didn't see the graphite
BECAUSE IT'S NOT THERE
>oh my GOD bro! You should check out the new HBO series Chernobyl! It's not like other shit, it's actually factual and scientific!!!!! I love science :D
>In reality, i think, it was partly guilt - some people made it to the reactor core and saw no fuel in the shaft, so dozens of pilots were irradiated for nothing, dropping boron, lead, sand etc into the reactor. And it was his idea. Partly it was his healt condition. And his fellow scientists stabbed him into the back.
>There's a lot of debate going on, about how soviets tried to hide chernobyl disaster from it's people. But i saw some documents from Kiev, for example. They didn't tell people much, but they were busy, to keep people safe. Like washing the streets, constant control, stricter sanitary rules for trade, etc.
>Correct. But i think control rods weren't blocked, reactor explode sooner. RMBK have different rods types, 211 in total, 187 (or so) of them are controlled by AZ-5. They removed most of the rods, but it wasn't forbidden. There was a limit, don't remember details, but i think this 18 rods should be always inserted by 2.5 meters.
>He didn't refused. As i said, in his book he wrote that it was clear, that fuel at least melted. He gave an interview in 90s saying exact same thing. Stolyarchuk, who was there, also saying that it was clear that reactor badly damaged. Zero water flow, zero pressure, it was on the panels.
>He did sent 2 trainees to lower control rods, but they didn't make it to the reactor room, the path was blocked. In his book and interview Dyatlov admits that it was wrong decision.
>He sent Perevozchenko (the guy who "saw the stack burning") to open emengency coolant system valves, but the path was blocked too. They were closed by the test program, if i recall correctly.
>He didn't have enough information, to do everything right.
last:
>Sherbina also did not threaten Legasov to throw him out of the helicopter. A lot can be chalked up to dramatization, but that was just a plain attempt to show that communists are evil casual killers.
>Water can be used as moderator but it require richier uranium, as far as i know. WWER reactors use uranium with 4-5% enrichment when RBMK use 2-3%.
>They didn't know that scram would blow up the reactor, so they used it. It was a standard procedure for stopping the block, and they didn't see the need to deviate from it. After the accident all RBMK reactors were modified to fix this issue. The designers knew about the issue for quite some time, but they didn't feel the need to fix it.
>All Ukranians NPP using WWER reactors now, Chernobyl NPP was the only one with RBMK. Only one RBMK reactor was built after Chernobyl, in Smolenks in 1990.
>In Russia we have some of the RMBK working, but by 2030s they all will be decommissioned. all new reactors are WWER.
>They didn't cover reactor flaws that led to Chernobyl. There was 1 more or less major incident with RBMK reactor on Leningrad NPP in 1975. Causes were similar to Chernobyl accident (at least that's what people say), after that they changed reactor design a bit and added some new rules to the regulations. They didn't cover it, but what they did wasn't enough to prevent the catastrophy. Furthermore, some of NPPs were controlled by ministry of energy, some by ministry of medium machinery, they didn't cooperate much, so people might not know what's happened on other's ministry station.
200 MW operation wasn't forbidden at all. It was allowed to hold the reactor on any power, on which operator can control it, no matter the circumstances.
>For 13 years it was just a matter of time for something like this to happen. It could be ANY station with RBMK reactor.
Should I watch The Terror? Is it as good?
This sequence was Metal Gear as fuck
I already miss him lads
Quote Dyatlov's own memoirs next, why don't you.
Why did they need to bring up the hardships of muh poor jews in the last episode portraying the Soviet Union as some evil antisemitic Reich?
Yeah, supernatural bear is a little too prevalent in the later parts of the series. But it's still good
>A lot can be chalked up to dramatization, but that was just a plain attempt to show that communists are evil casual killers.
I saw this as typical banter for the kind of people you would find in the Party
>open thread
>Cold War is still going on
fucking based, i love you guys

No one cares, russkie
That is how an RBMK-reactor explodes
this is a story slightly taken out of context from a very angry russian\ukraine "nuclear physicist" that posted a 3 weeks long ass rant on youtube in one of the chernobyl series videos
he seems adamantly pissed off about how the show is an "americanized" propaganda shitfest that was overly dramatized for the sake of television and gommunism = bad shock values
you can find the whole comment chain with multiple posts on this link
youtube.com
i will not of course post everything since it's 3 fucking weeks worth of content from this absolute madman
but, could it be true, /RBMK/?
could it be all faked and drama'd up for the sake of television?
yours to decide
the comment chain is actually interesting, there is more info about the whole disaster
>"everything is based is detailed and factual!"
>"don't lie bro it's not nice!"
>gets called out on fake facts and people
>"iTs nOt dOcUmEnTaRy!!!1"
Love me some deceptive writers.
I liked Chernobyl but The Terror is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy better.
More character focused and the writing is more subtle. Also music, direction and acting are a lot more competent apart from the visual effects.
Those were stronger in Chernobyl
>low viewership
>still secure funding and financial security from interested parties
it's the perfect plan

Do I get moon rovers if I tell him he's a dead man?
fuck legasov and FUCK KHODEMCHUK
gee in the middle of the autism i skipped the 2nd part of this comment
more about the fireman, the lyudmilla and npp operators:
>Toptunov and Akimov did useless job in this serie. Funny thing is that if reactor worked this valves were already open. In real life they did some useful work on the block to prevent further fires. Like draining turbine oil, or henerator hydrogen. They were doing their job, and didn't stand on the same spot with retarded faces half of a night.
>Lyudmila couldn't see the explosion. She and Vasiliy were living in 3-floor firefighter dormitory and Vasiliy was on the duty that night.
>He was leader of the fire brigade, and not common firefighter. He was on the roof of machine hall, where he saved 3 his collegues who lost consciousness because of high-level radiation. I wish they showed that...
>Red forest was to the west of power plant, and Pripyat' was on the north. People got lucky with west wind in the first days, first emission missed the city.
>Shashenok was Vladimir, and not Viktor.
>He died in the hospital, at 6 am, and not on the station.
>Peter Panomarenko (guy with cigarette and extinguisher) didn't dropped him like a trash bag. He carried him to control room 4, where he was taken to the medblock.
>Panomarenko didn't died that night (at least i believe that that was Panomarenko, because he was the one who find Shashenok), you can see him in this video youtu.be
No, Terror is fucking terrible and I fell for the meme.
>Sherbina didn't call Legasov. Tapes, showed in the beginning of this serie - they are real. You even can find text version of this tapes on the internet (don't think there's english translation). He was on the party meeting when he heard about Chernobyl. It was 12 am. Information was indeed wague, but they didn't tried to hide anything. There was message about nuclear, radioactive, fire and explosion types of danger on the station. Also, there's no single word about the lies or Dyatlov on that tapes. Because there were 5 tapes. And the 6, showed to us, is just fruit of imagination.
>Valery Legasov wasn't "Expert on RBMK reactors", he was chemist.
>Uff... i'm done. Now you see why i'm mad at this series? It contains a lot of lies. I can understand some of it for drama's sake, but most of it are unnecessary.
i agree
Fuggin based
Literally.
Dyatlov did nothing wrong.
The fact that the experment was performed by a B-team without informing them enough in advance and that Dyatlov bascally buillied them into doing stupid shit is probably accurate.
Deathbed testimonies of control room operators are available and cointain the same info that was presented in the series (dyatlov wasn't directly threatening, but everyone was aware of the implications of not following orders)
>Chadlov
>Akibitch
"And that is how a Nuclear reactor works, no smoke, no pollution..and it is beautiful"
He was just trying his best to serve the Soviet Union
>Bpeн
Of all people, Bpeн posted it.
Good to have some more solid ground.
>Ep 1 makes it seem like everyone fucking died or was going to die soon, communists were evil bad bumbling idiots
>research later only a few people actually died
>Ep 2 with the Mary Sue and the chopper crash
>chopper crash wasn't until much later, mary sue imaginary
>realize all the drumming up they're doing for drama and entertainment
>the irony of people looking down on these bumbling commies who just believe what they're told when they just believe what the TV tells them
The shit in the credits with 'bad thing happened' and the next line being 'bad thing actually didn't happen' was garbage. And saying the Russians said only 31 people died, and that they said none died afterwards as a result is disingenuous.
Oh well. Least the soundtrack, acting and all the props/setting was 10/10

This is him now by the way.
Time to stop these threads.
Inserting the control rods now.
Chernobyl Season 2
>The Goiânia accident [ɡojˈjɐniɐ] was a radioactive contamination accident that occurred on September 13, 1987, in Goiânia, in the Brazilian state of Goiás, after a forgotten radiotherapy source was taken from an abandoned hospital site in the city. It was subsequently handled by many people, resulting in four deaths. About 112,000 people were examined for radioactive contamination and 249 were found to have significant levels of radioactive material in or on their bodies.[1][2]
>In the cleanup operation, topsoil had to be removed from several sites, and several houses were demolished. All the objects from within those houses were removed and examined. Time magazine has identified the accident as one of the world's "worst nuclear disasters" and the International Atomic Energy Agency called it "one of the world's worst radiological incidents".[3][4]
Who is that in the video?
Comrade anonov, you realise you are contradicting the entire rbmk union?
>Theft of the source
On September 13, 1987, taking advantage of the absence of the guard,[7] Roberto dos Santos Alves and Wagner Mota Pereira illegally entered the partially demolished facility. They partially disassembled the teletherapy unit, and placed the source assembly – which they thought might have some scrap value – in a wheelbarrow, taking it to Alves's home.[1] There, they began dismantling the equipment. That same evening, they both began to vomit. Nevertheless, they continued in their efforts. The following day, Pereira began to experience diarrhea and dizziness, and his left hand began to swell. He soon developed a burn on this hand in the same size and shape as the aperture – he eventually underwent partial amputation of several fingers.[8]
On September 15, Pereira visited a local clinic where his symptoms were diagnosed as the result of something he had eaten, and he was told to return home and rest.[1] Alves, however, continued with his efforts to dismantle the equipment. In the course of this effort, he eventually freed the caesium capsule from its protective rotating head. His prolonged exposure to the radioactive material led to his right forearm becoming ulcerated, requiring amputation.[9]
>Ep 1 makes it seem like everyone fucking died or was going to die soon, communists were evil bad bumbling idiots
>research later only a few people actually died
Most of the "official" death toll are ARS victims from the plant staff user, what the hell are you smoking?
>chopper crash wasn't until much later
Yes, and? It still happened in the same way. A chopper crew made delirious by radiation poisoning didn't notice where their craft was and they flew into a cable.
*inserts control rod up your bum*
yeah i dont know who to believe, but i know for sure that i enjoyed the series and even if they weren't absolutely faithful with the production, it was still a show memorial for those that died in that horrible disaster
Memes are not going down.
More control rods.
>Source is partially broken
On September 16, Alves succeeded in puncturing the capsule's aperture window with a screwdriver, allowing him to see a deep blue light coming from the tiny opening he had created.[1] He inserted the screwdriver and successfully scooped out some of the glowing substance. Thinking it was perhaps a type of gunpowder, he tried to light it, but the powder would not ignite. The exact mechanism by which the light was generated was not known at the time the IAEA report was written, though it was thought to be either ionized air glow, fluorescence or Cherenkov radiation associated with the absorption of moisture by the source; similar blue light was observed in 1988 at Oak Ridge National Laboratory during the disencapsulation of a 137Cs source.[1]
>Source is sold and dismantled
On September 18, Alves sold the items to a nearby scrapyard. That night, Devair Alves Ferreira (the owner of the scrapyard) noticed the blue glow from the punctured capsule. Thinking the capsule's contents were valuable or even supernatural, he immediately brought it into his house. Over the next three days, he invited friends and family to view the strange glowing substance.
On September 21, at the scrapyard, one of Ferreira's friends (given as EF1 in the IAEA report) succeeded in freeing several rice-sized grains of the glowing material from the capsule using a screwdriver. Ferreira began to share some of them with various friends and family members. That same day, his wife, 37-year-old Gabriela Maria Ferreira, began to fall ill. On September 25, 1987, Devair Ferreira sold the scrap metal to a second scrapyard.
What biggest and greatest absolute fuck up events would you like to see season 2 be about?
Why didn't they just use a high pressure fire hose to blast the graphite off the roof???
>Goiania
>Goi
>goy
tricky tricky
How is a fire hose going to move 110 pound blocks of concrete?
too heavy.
The sinking of the El Faro.
>Ivo and his daughter
The day before the sale to the second scrapyard, on September 24, Ivo, Devair's brother, successfully scraped some additional dust out of the source and took it to his house a short distance away. There he spread some of it on the concrete floor. His six-year-old daughter, Leide das Neves Ferreira, later ate a sandwich while sitting on this floor. She was also fascinated by the blue glow of the powder, applying it to her body and showing it off to her mother. Dust from the powder fell on the sandwich she was consuming; she eventually absorbed 1.0 GBq and received a total dose of 6.0 Gy, more than a fatal dose even with treatment.[10]
>Gabriela Maria Ferreira notifies authorities
Gabriela Maria Ferreira had been the first to notice that many people around her had become severely ill at the same time.[11] On September 28, 1987 — fifteen days after the item was found — she reclaimed the materials from the rival scrapyard and transported them to a hospital. Because the remains of the source were kept in a plastic bag, the level of contamination at the hospital was low.
We're reaching dangerously lethal memes.
The rods they do noting.
Don't be a fuckup and ignore obvious safety concerns and warning signs for goodboy promotion points.
Why are you doing this.
We were all having fun with memes and post-finale depression and you just came in with a wall of text of paranoia-fueled misinformation, destroying everything.

Why didn't they just ask graphite reeeeealy nice to decay real fast?
>She was also fascinated by the blue glow of the powder, applying it to her body and showing it off to her mother. Dust from the powder fell on the sandwich she was consuming
best part
those regulation were made BECAUSE the reactor blew up in chernobyl
If someone was to try and recover the firefighter uniform vasily wore, could it be identified?
What if we brought the uniform to his wife.
>could it be all faked and drama'd up for the sake of television?
welcome to capitalism 101
Seriously though, if slavs are pissed with Holywood adaptations (not judging, they might be completely right), they are more than welcome to adapt their own history themselves. Truth is just like most old world countries, they simply suck at adapting their own history onto the screen. They don't really have the know how. From China to France, from Portugal to Finland, you have a colossal shit ton of great amazing real History that will never see the screen. Because in the end very few people can produce this sort of risky/touchy historical show, and take this sort of gamble, and most of them are americans or brits, because the industry has been under their hegemony for decades now. So of course they are controlling the narrative, what did you expect?
It's always so fucking easy to point fingers at Holywood, but the reality is that most countries cant afford to compete with the Holywood machine. And most countries don't even want to try to because they see it as a loosing battle to begin with. Geopolitics and real-politics take precedence over poetic aspirations.
Napoleon invasion of Russia.
That's what Russians do to each other all the time.

They were going to try that, but bureaucratic infighting killed it.

>oh, and the jews. Remember that the jews are the eternal victims, goy.
Wrong.
How is a shovel?
>are we the bad guys..?
They just followed the orders.
Why didn't they use like a really long stick and push it in from a safe distance 500 meters away?
theres a video where a german guy goes into the hospital basement
his dosimeter goes apeshit

Spitak earthquake. Scherbina was there too.
Also, late soviet train explosion near Ufa.
It's the previous AZ-5 button
I want Dyatlov to leave the thread
Look at how harmless he is.

>tfw you fuck around too much, turn the pumps off, Xenon starts to poison the core and water vaporizes which leads to a steam explosion as the atoms in the core are uncontrollaly torn apart
>and AZ-5 doesn't work
It probably has his name on it somewhere since it's his uniform
>that nude mining scene
You may not like it, but this is what peak male performance looks like.
This user is delusional, get him to the infirmary
Post yfw you're on the toilet
I fucking hate what they did with Dyatlov's character, as entertaining as he was and as well acted as he was. He gave a very long interview explaining in details what exactly happened. Chances of him lying there are slim because:
1. He had no reason to
2. The explanations were very detailed and very real, and there was no sign on his face that he was lying or making stuff up.
Good thing he is dead. Otherwise he should have sued that liberal kike creator. With good reason.
The fact that we in Russia didn't manage to make a single good title about it in 30 years and some westie outsiders will make pure kino, just this fact alone would rocket commieboos' and putinbots' asses up the fucking orbit.
This, the Russian coping is painful
The conception of and your eventual birth.
damn,we should launch a expedition
Russia dose have 146,000,00 people which is double the next closest which is Germany with 80,000,00 also sex education would be shit in Russia i assume
Another question: why is AZ-5 already scratched if it was never pushed?
Comrades what is happening to the thread core?
he actually tried to say he was in the toilet and didnt order the test to continue
>no more chernobyl
why even live
fuck off
But user what about the big nuclear reactor in the sky, the sun?
the soviet union was a ruthless suppression of christian russians by a globalist cabal of bloodthirsty genocidal jews
you literally cannot refute it. the execution of the royal family was in the exact same vein, ordered and carried out by the exact same people
>poison half of yurop due to a bathroom break
then he really would eat a bullet
do you find yourself lonely most nights?
I'm a bit confused, is that how chernobyl's reactor looked like pre explosion?
>1. He had no reason to
To save his reputation. He had already been convicted in a very public trial.
>2. The explanations were very detailed and very real, and there was no sign on his face that he was lying or making stuff up.
He was a nuclear physicist, of course his bullshit is going to sound right. To his last dying breath he was trying to insist that he didn't have any blame for what happened.
>Otherwise he should have sued that liberal kike creator. With good reason.
iwonderwhocouldbebehindthispost.png
Why is it called AZ-5 when it's A3-5?
So why was Legasov thinking of Soviet Mickey while sitting in the KGB's rape dungeon? I'm sure it must be symbolic for something but I can't imagine what it is.
because it was made in the USSR
Stalin and Uncle Adolf purged the SU from Jews though.
But it was dismissed and we know it's a lie because we have Toptunov and Akimov's testimony in the show. As well as footage of the event. Which is even more disgusting as that fucking hebe blatantly accuses Dyatlov of lying.
>Chances of him lying there are slim because:
>1. He had no reason to
Hey I got a truck full of antiradiation gas masks ready to sell just for you comrade
how would does anyone rationalize colossal mistakes? i tell myself i wont be a loser some day and my regrets for the past will help guide my future
The amount of "fact checking" and unrest this show has prompted really activates the almonds about how much Russian activity is on Yea Forums. It's like spraying underneath the stove and watching all the Russian cockroaches scurry out.
yes
It's literally chernobyl part two.
It's forbidden by state to discuss aids and sex ed at all and condoms are worthy of week's dinners so yeah.
>ive given my life for this, isnt that enough?
>no
man thats brutal
You're looking at the top of the reactor unit, those are the control rods
>user gives us the rants of a crazed russian on youtube
>clearly states he thinks it's interesting 'cause it has snippets of dyatlov's own book that weren't in the show
>apologized for the spamming and contributed to the thread's own content
>RUSSIAN COPING REEEEEE PUTIN PUTIN DRUUUUUUUUUUUMPFFFFFFFFFF
You are more useless and annoying than him.
Go to the infirmary.
he should have been thinking of gorbachev's pizzza hut commercial
>comrade the condom has broke
>the condom cannot break! That is impossible!
Because you assume "never used" means "new" in USSR.
It’s symbolic of capitalism.

Oh, it is.
I knew it was coming, but I still cried.
In all seriousness why don't people move back in? They say it's contaminated for 10,000 years and yet locals still live there and eat fish from the river. The entire "containment zone" has been a waste of good space for 20 years.
It's just what happens when you get the think tank going. Tons of people who didn't care or know anything are suddenly interesting. Some are abound to be of weaponized autism grade.

Why let those people have an increased chance to get cancer? Have babies that will also get cancer? There's plenty of land elsewhere retard
that shit is honestly probably been warm from the radiation for 40 years
correct, that's what the great purge was about. jews still aligned themselves with the su where it was convenient however, they just didn't control it any more

There are plenty of them.
Right, thanks. Are they replaced manually by humans or do they stay there indefinetely?
it's mostly old people that live there, user.
too old to have cancer.
or some probably already do.
they just dont care.
moving there as a 25 years old means you will die by your 40s.
feel free to do that.
Liabilities and the radiation in Chernobyl isn't consistent. There are many hotspots you have to watch out for.

Orphanage with Chernobyl kids.
It's basically a steam engine, choo choo!
>To save his reputation. He had already been convicted in a very public trial.
Yeah... (((CONVINCTED))). You fucking communist jew. You know nothing of the Soviet system and how it works. It was a sham trial.
>He was a nuclear physicist, of course his bullshit is going to sound right
Yeah, being a nuclear scientist makes him an expert liar. Are you delusional or something? What does one have to do with the other?
>To his last dying breath he was trying to insist that he didn't have any blame for what happened.
If I'm innocent, I would, as well. What blame did he have? Have any survivors that were in the control room come out and blame him?
Because if you're a young female your ovaries are extra susceptible so if you're a young male the only way you'll score is those baba yaga looking ladies

No, big honking winches are used. The fuckers weigh 350 kg a piece.
>JOOS JOOOOOOOOOOOS JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS
Here's a switch, Ivan. Change your one track already.
>increased chance to get cancer?
What current statistics support this? The only bad shit that happened was within the first couple years. Any surrounding contamination has been washed away
There's a lot of butthurt around current state of russian film industry and obsession with propaganda shit only makes it stronger.
Why is the KGB so fucking based?
fuel is replaced when its expended, i dont know if control rods are but i would assume so.
>The entire "containment zone" has been a waste of good space for 20 years.
2600 km2 is fucking nothing relative to the surface space available. But yeah sure go ahead go settle in Chernobyl Ukraine, I hear it's a peaceful land with strong economic prospects!
>fact checking is russian activity
Holy shit murricans are retarded.
>Russia’s NTV channel has already announced that it is shooting its own “Chernobyl” series based on the premise that the CIA sent an agent to the Chernobyl zone to carry out acts of sabotage.

What made old people move back to Chernobyl?
Nothing is functioning. Let's say they lived there before the disaster and want to die there in their home town. There's no running water and all the buildings are run down.

They did seize church property and relentlessly mocked religion yet kept synagogues and left them alone which is kind of suspicious desu.

g-guys...
There was a social hierarchy of who you shouldn't send in to a radiation zone 2 days ago
Top is fertile women
Bottom is old men
Men probably suffer from temporarily reduced sperm count because their sperm is being fried, but the male body makes it's sperm

what would you do if everything was always your fault and the best scapegoat was "actually that's a lie"?
They aren't, the radiation present in the zone is only harmful nowadays if you spend literal weeks traveling through the whole area.
Hence why we can't repopulate it.
Tho it's obvious that radioactive dust can be swallowed and inhaled, especially from those retards that like to explore the buildings without gas masks.
Yes, gas masks.
There is a reason people still use them.

>IT'S FROM EXPOSURE AT THE TIME OF THE LEAK not current radiation levels
what is your fucking point? that because the core is now sort of sealed people should simply go back? Like there wouldn't be any risk to ever come across highly radioactive material in this area? You want to take your kids for a sunday stroll in the open air scrapyards at chernobyl see how much good it does to their health?
Shut the fuck up already
i dont?

Reminder that Russian information control is employed here and on reddit by Putin and they intervene in everything, trying to sway the perception of the popular opinion.
They interfere with American politics and steer what's perceived as popular and "good" in entertainment. It's only now that this behavior is extremely obvious because Chernobyl hits close to home.
They will try to deflect this post with memes and buzzwords and other inane shit because that's what kids respond to. But it is the truth that they manipulate information of all kinds. Please remember this as you continue to use the internet anonymously.

Fucking hell, how hard is it to understand that people lie to protect their reputation?
Watched it over the weekend. Would recommend. Supernatural stuff at the end mostly, some difficulty in knowing which characters are being referred to in later episodes.
I think my favourite part of this miniseries is that it makes both the tankies and the alt-right seethe
Why didn't they just send a bunch of pregnant women to clean up the mess if the baby can absorb the radiation?
Because of the Lviv choir singing

How hard is it for you to understand that not everyone is a liar and judging one as a liar when you have no evidence of speaks ill of your character. You gonna trust the word of the jew show creator rather than the man that was THERE? How stupid can you be? Or are you gonna tell me now that Ulana's character was real because Craig added her in?
boris was chad. Legasov told him he needs at least 2,000 tons of lead. boris ordered 7000 tons

So what makes you think Dyatlov lied. Or what part of his explanations didn't make sense to you?
He served half of his sentence then lost his mind, was confined in a psychiatric facility for 5 more years.
He's still alive, and like Dyatlov and Fomin spoke really harshly about the whole disaster, those guilty of it and how nuclear energy everywhere is not as safe as everyone thinks.
Two good men, sent by mistake.
I can call you moscow times reader, it's way worse but not as obvious on this bpoard.
They should've hired pregnant feminists since they're gonna abort the baby anyway.
>his signs were all in Cyrillic/Russian
It's those small details everywhere, man. All the lesser series would've had them in English, like we can't remember what he said 4 seconds ago.
It's mostly from needle junkies not homobuttsecs. When the government tried to make it go away by arresting heroin traffickers, they just created krakadil in the process.
>Stalin was a great supporter of jews
What the fuck am i reading
He's still alive, he lives in Kiev.
>Eventually, Birobidzhan, in what is now the JAO, was chosen by the Soviet leadership as the site for the Jewish region.[26] The choice of this area was a surprise to Komzet; the area had been chosen for military and economic reasons.[22] This area was often infiltrated by China, while Japan also wanted Russia to lose the provinces of the Soviet Far East. At the time, there were only about 30,000 inhabitants in the area, mostly descendants of Trans-Baikal Cossacks resettled there by tsarist authorities, Koreans, Kazakhs, and the Tungusic peoples.[27] The Soviet government wanted to increase settlement in the remote Soviet Far East, especially along the vulnerable border with China. General Pavel Sudoplatov writes about the government's rationale behind picking the area in the Far East: The establishment of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in Birobidzhan in 1928 was ordered by Stalin only as an effort to strengthen the Far Eastern border region with an outpost, not as a favour to the Jews. The area was constantly penetrated by Chinese and White Russian terrorist groups, and the idea was to shield the territory by establishing a settlement whose inhabitants would be hostile to White Russian émigrés, especially the Cossacks. The status of this region was defined shrewdly as an autonomous district, not an autonomous republic, which meant that no local legislature, high court, or government post of ministerial rank was permitted. It was an autonomous area, but a bare frontier, not a political center.
>After the war ended in 1945, there was renewed interest in the idea of Birobidzhan as a potential home for Jewish refugees. The Jewish population in the region peaked at around 46,000–50,000 Jews in 1948, around 25% of the entire population of the JAO.[39][40] However, in 1948, Stalin's anti-Jewish purges made living in the JAO unappealing.[40] Jews were no longer able to get jobs or attend graduate school.[24]
Yes, JAO was an absolute paradise.

In this 100% fictional universe the show has created, why didn't he just lie on the trial and get the list of attendees, and sent anonymous private letters to each and every one of them with the truth if he wanted the truth to be heard?

yeah there's no reason for a board like Yea Forums to be mindful of jews, not like 99% of tv and film has jewish producers/writers/actors/directors am i right?
you're a tourist
As someone born in what is currently the exclusion zone (although I was 4 at the time when we were evacuated and moved to our relatives in Moscow), the details of the soviet day-to-day life are uncannily authentic. I expected much worse from a foreign movie, drunk bears on bicycles and all that.
What I really dislike is the interpretation and the overall spin.
1) Chernobyl triggered fundamental reforms in the party and in the country in general. There were democratic/conservative/etc factions inside the CPSU after Chernobyl happened, there were people movements like the account 904, etc - it awakened the country. This movie fails to mention this, it gave me the impression that no lessons were learned, and nothing has changed. Which is absolutely wrong. Afghan war, Chernobyl, Ufa disaster, and Spitak earthquake literally shaped late 80s and 90s in (ex)USSR, and led to massive institutional and cultural shifts.
2) The general atmosphere of the time was "nobody gives a fuck" and "everybody steals everything". If you understand Russian you can listen to a song "Я вынec из зoны" by a liquidator named Sergey Uryvin youtube.com
3) The most active phase of the liquidation happened in the spring/summer/autumn of 1986, so people remember the Chernobyl as something hot and bright. The movie is post-processed as really grim and dark, which isn't what I remember about Chernobyl. Purely aesthetical and subjective, I know, but I think it speaks volumes about the intentions.
4) The overall focus on the dichotomy between the evil party and the oppressed people. See 1), it was much less black and white. Also, painting Legasov as someone who did everything while others were just standing around.
>100% fictional

And here is how /RMBK/ works and how it maintained a stable balance for over 5 weeks. A perfect balance of hot memes balanced out by cooling factors of discussion among others. It's truly the perfect thread design that will see no equal. But I'm afraid the fuel for /RBMK/ doesn't last long. After all the episodes are used up the chain reaction of memes will gradually decrease, but we will all keep the memories and friends we made along the way. I serve the Soviet Union.
The way you put it, it can be someone's fetish.

Well yeah, it's a movie. The real liquidation effort had hundreds of thousands of men involved. There'd still be dozens of people involved at the highest levels in real life. But that makes for a confusing narrative, just based on having to keep track of them all.

Great job, comrade.

THEY TRIED TO POISON CORE CHAN
>aaaah
What did the firefighter in the hospital mean with this
>his smile and optimism: irradiated
the general isn't going away fren.
not to mention the cost
employing that many people is like twice the GDP of russia
Is the Chernobyl incident the reason why slavs tend to like post-nuclear apocalyptic media like Fallout, and Stalker?
Also what's with the slav attitude of them feeling that everything is fucked up but i'll just shoulder on thing?
Read the video title, baldie's been doing this way up north in belarus at the russian border
it's not the central exclusion zone
>2015
Should be the cool wine aunt instead of normal wojak
Yeah, I do understand that.
This is a quality movie actually, it's just clear to me it's an outsider's interpretation who wasn't actually been there or lived in late 80's early 90s exUSSR. The facts may be straight, the spirit is off putting though.
How come all this radiation didn't give at least ONE Russian person some kind of mutant superpowers?
Who are you quoting?
no clue. you know, you could try it out?
>When you watch too many death stranding trailers
what was Dyatlovs address in Pripyat, would be cool to go to his apartment.
Have you heard about the Jewish doctor's plot?
perhaps the vatnik who has spent the entire thread calling everyone he doesn't like a jew
just a hunch
Like the radiation in the liquidator's bones, /RBMK/ will live on in our hearts
>They didn't break the rules here.
Pretty sure that the regulations at the time either said 15 or 30 and the number of rods in the core was around 8
based. Can you make it with russian signs too please
Not really, although it's the part of it.
The most important part is "нeдocтpoй", which is a huge number of unfinished buildings, a result of Brezhnev era of stagnation and Gorbachev's perestroika. Literally everyone played in some of those as a kid in 90s.
2016
>because it's cheaper
RIP /rbmk/
where exactly is vasilys grave/the people they buried in concrete
For first 2 eps it really felt like perspective is too shifted and whole ethical plot is written really not authentic to slav mentality, but the overall quality balances it out.
>There were democratic/conservative/etc factions inside the CPSU

Neit is not American capitalist mouse, is Maykl Mouschev, a Russian cartoon charicature.
Honestly, a recent NASA study pretty much confirmed my suspicions that radiation is overhyped, unless you're subjected to a lethal dose, your cells will adapt to elevated radiation levels and start producing more proteins and enzymes to repair damage caused by ionising radiation.
Cesium 137? Okay... How much Cesium does the body require? I know plutonium acts chemically like calcium in the body and goes to your bones which is pretty bad considering how radioactive it is(which is related to how heavy an atom is in relation to its half-life).
>Chernobyl reactors 5 and 6 were under construction when the disaster occurred
>Construction of 5 and 6 wasn't halted until two years later due to the amount of radiation limiting its potential use
The absolute madlads, they were really going to keep Chernobyl fully running despite having a destroyed reactor there
That's a translation error. They didn't officially cancel them until two years later, but after April 26 the construction site was effectively abandoned.
Why didn't they shoot the floor's support beams out in a manner that would cause the roof to cant toward the core & cause the graphite to slide in?
That'd release a lot of radioactive dust.
The Mitinskoe Cemetery.
This has nothing to do with politics. The reason why it exploded is simply because the state didn't have enough money to construct the reactors properly. They cut corners, they chose cheaper unsafer designs. In the end, everything is about money. If they had enough money, this wouldn't have happened.
>your cells will adapt to elevated radiation levels and start producing more proteins and enzymes to repair damage caused by ionising radiation.
Isn't this just the bodies natural reaction to anything that results in excessive cell loss? The response is to just increase the rate of cell production to replace the dead ones, but it won't eliminate the possibility of an damaged, mutated cell from being able to reproduce itself and thus cause cancer.
Y'all would get a big kick out of Soviet Strike
That's the red stripe on Adidas tracksuit.
The perestroika itself was a result of a failing economy
What's it like having a multilated and scarred penis?
user, the belarus exclusion zone is directly attached to the ukrainian one
This actually, the Soviet VVER reactor was inherently safer but also more expensive and required more maintenance and downtime for things like refueling.
It's such a good design in fact, they're still producing and exporting this Soviet-era reactor today and were looking at getting it approved with British and American safety organisations.
lol
40% of factory workers in the soviet union were making military equipment.
They spent all those colossal resources on weapons
It's not just about money. It's about money and priorities.
>The good kinometer from the safe burned out the moment it was turned on during this scene
чepнoбиль— хopoшo или плoхoи?
They do tours of chernobyl today, They take you into reactor hall #4.
>at the russian border
>The movie is post-processed as really grim and dark, which isn't what I remember about Chernobyl
It was shot at Lithuania (ot some other Baltic state), the climate is a bit different there.
Lies from the top of my head:
1)It is forbidden to increase power after drop to 0, not 30.
2)Upper plates weight
Harder to use for dual-use purposes as well.
1>4>2>3 and i didn't watch 6 yet.
I wonder how different the USSR would have been if it wasn't fighting an arms race, and could therefore plan its economy more evenly?
I mean, it's not as blatantly obvious, but the arms race also wrecked the American economy. How did America go from being an extremely wealthy country at the start of WWII, then getting loads of money in weapon sales and leases during WWII, and then coming out of WWII as the only first world nation with an untouched industry that's surrounded by war torn nations that are redeveloping, to then being billions of dollars in debt by the time the USSR collapsed?
The fact that the USSR was even able to compete with economies that are based around writing checks and hoping they get paid off later, while being accountable to its own production limits is pretty amazing, right?
Yep, and it was done horribly itself too. Not gradually lifting the export monopoly was a retarded thing to do, for example.
But I was speaking about the nedostroy, which was everywhere, and it was a result of both eras. Everybody who was a kid in 80s and 90s is familiar with Stalker's abandoned industrial landscape, including myself.
It had everything to do with politics. The root cause of Chernobyl disaster is an commies industrial planning failure in late 60s. The nuclear industry emerged out of nowhere, and they failed to scale the nuclear physics education, meanwhile making a reactor which could have only been used by experts. As a result, quality of everything dropped to sub-standard and Chernobyl happened. In 90s, there was a lot of changes to the industry after this.
>good or bad
Tell me you're not older than 14
Perhaps, but I'm talking about the style of post processing used.
>or some other Baltic state
come on user, there is only 3.
Pripyat is on the same latitude as Hamburg where as Vilnius is around Kopenhagen
SOMEONE MAKE A NEW THREAD BEFORE I RADIATE MYSELF
yeah man
the americans are "cheating" by writing checks that magically make food and cars appear out of thin air
poor soviets who couldn't "cheat" and had to actually make that stuff!
This qt made the entire OST for the show from sounds of other nuclear power plants. It's fucking GOAT.
She's also doing the music for the upcoming JOKER movie.
>Russia’s NTV channel has already announced that it is shooting its own “Chernobyl” series based on the premise that the CIA sent an agent to the Chernobyl zone to carry out acts of sabotage.
>As justification for the story, the film’s director, Alexei Muradov, cited fringe conspiracy theorists: “One theory holds that Americans had infiltrated the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and many historians do not deny that, on the day of the explosion, an agent of the enemy’s intelligence services was present at the station.”
>In place of a moving tribute to the heroic men and women who sacrificed everything to overcome the fallout from the Chernobyl disaster, Moscow gives us a thrilling detective film based on a conspiracy theory in which a KGB officer struggles to thwart American spies — the new villains in this national tragedy.
KEK
that fucking bitch man, she just can't shut the fuck up
money laundering the movie
Why didn't they see graphite on the roof?
Oh wow, so RBMK can actually produce some fuel as well as using it up?
If that reactor never blew up, would it have been considered a pretty good design? Because it seems cheap, efficient and scalable considering there was a 2400Mw variant in development.
>Russia’s NTV channel has already announced that it is shooting its own “Chernobyl”
Oh fuck me. HBO is full of paзвecиcтaя клюквa but NTV literally cannot make anything except the worst quality propaganda shit.
>1)It is forbidden to increase power after drop to 0, not 30.
but power never drops below 0 in an RBMK reactor. When you stop the chain reaction completely, you still get 30 MW just from the normal decay of uranium, you can't stop nuclear fuel from decaying.
HOW DOES A RMBK REACTOR EXPLODE?
>Implying America hasn't been able to pay for such R&D through allowing corporations to fiddle their money to make it seem like they have more than they really do. Therefore justifying larger and larger loans.
I meant, below 30, not below 0, obviously.
